I switched to this pill from a 3 month pill that caused me to gain 10+ pounds, have heavy bleeding, and bad mood swings. In the 3 months that I have been on this pill, I have not spotted, experienced cramps, or had mood swings. I may have gained a pound or two since starting this pill, but other than that, its great. I would definitely recommend this pill.

I was diagnosed with PCOS and started on Ortho-Cyclen soon afterwards, the periods now come regularly and not heavy at all! I used to have severe cramping and ever since starting on OrthoCyclen I haven't had a cramp problem at all. My pms symptoms are 70% better in terms of mood swings but some anger still comes through and one or two pimples as well.overall I'm very happy with this medication! beware though that the generic is more expensive then the brand for some odd reason.

I was prescribed this medication to help with my PCOS. After the first week of being on the pill, I started spotting and did so for 9 days. During the first two weeks I was nauseous to the point that I couldn't eat and have lost weight because of it.

Good but causes spotting during intercourse.

I switched to this pill due to lack of insurance, and in the first 5 days, I've gained almost 5 lbs and I just feel awful overall. I was planning to get off the pill after my wedding in September, but I am seriously thinking about stopping it now.

I have just started taking Ortho-Cyclen and I absolutely hate it! I woke up the first night with extreme nausea and a dizzy migraine couldnt sleep and the next night I woke up with nausea little less of a headache ,but still same side effect. Havent been sleeping

Orth-Cyclen & it's generic brand, used as birth control, is wonderful! I have been on it for several months now. I have no negative side effects. It's very effective on preventing pregnancy! In my family we are all extremely fertile women, and my fiance and I started having unprotected sex a couple months ago, and I haven't had any issues with this birth control. It's also lightened my periods (which used to be extremely heavy and painful) to the point that I don't need to take pain reducers for cramps anymore! This is an excellent birth control, I would recommend it to any woman who can remember to take a pill every day. IVE TAKEN THIS PILL FOR ONLY 3 DAYS AND DECIDED TO LOOK FOR OTHER OPTIONS. THE NAUSEA IS UNBEARABLE AND IT IS HOURS AFTER TAKING THE PILL 8-12 AFTER TAKING THE PILL I FEEL THE EFFECTS. I work a graveyard shift and i couldnt even stay at work. It made me lose my appetite so all I had for lunch was berries cause thats all i could stomach within 20 min i threw up the berries ! Ive been on bc before and this is not what i experienced looks like ill have to call up my old doctors office..

My acne has become out of control. I am so nauseated I have a hard time functioning at work. No one should feel so sick on a birth control pill. And I should mention, I've lost all interest in sex!

I switched from Ortho Tri Cyclen Low to this because the Low caused me to have cysts. Once I switched to this medicine my cysts went away and I have had no symptoms and no pregnancy since I have been on this medicine for 3+ years now! Love it.

Been on this pill for 11 days now and I don't like it because my breast seem swollen and tender, and I feel like I have gained weight. I have been on birth control before and never had this issue. I had to change to this pill because they don't carry the other kind I was on. I have also noticed spotting.

This is the second time that I have tried Ortho-cyclen, and both times I had negative side effects. In each case, I was on it for at least three months, in order to see if the side effects would abate, which they did not. My side effects included: sudden weight gain (15-20 lbs), mood swings, deep cystic acne on my chin (as opposed to my normally clear skin), heavier periods, and increased period length. I've been on this pill for exactly three days, and I already hate it. It makes me feel bloated, and my face is breakout CITY--I don't even want to give this pill a month or so to settle into my system or anything, sacrificing my skin isn't worth it! I was on Junel FE 1.5/30 before, and I'm going to be switching back as soon as I can get an appointment with my doc!

Pros: No pregnancy (yet), No moodiness, No over-eating. Cons: Constant Itchy skin/rashes, Hair thinned out, Stretch mark type marks on arms, heart burn after consuming certain foods. Overall I am content with this birth control, I am feeling that my hair is being affected and seems to have thinned out and I don't usually straighten my hair or dye my hair. Aside from the rashes I haven't gotten pregnant. My period is pretty much normal but a little lighter. This is the first birth control I have ever taken. I have been taking Ortho Cyclen for 5 months now, and I have experienced side effects. I have not gotten pregnant, so I suppose it has been successful. Also, I have shorter periods, which is a plus. However, it does cause me nausea and has caused stomache cramps. I have gained 12-15 lbs without the ability to lose it. Normally, I can lose weight by changing my diet. This time it did not work. My age is probably a factor as well though. I have experienced mood swings, as I cry at almost everything. I can get down and anxious, which is not normal for me. I have also experienced a dry vaginal region, and breast tenderness almost all the time, which is quite irritating. I am going to stay on this pill until I finish what I have, but I will be speaking with my doctor about other options.Read More Read Less

No nausea, no acne, no weight gain, as others have reported. I originally was prescribed this pill to regulate my rare periods. It does not lessen hair growth as some hope. I am unsure if mood swings are attributed to this pill or to other reasons.

I went from being a happy girl everyday to being mad at the world and crying for no apparent reason, maybe one time a week. I am still currently taking it, but I am for sure looking up a different pill to use.

This product made me gain 25 pounds, made it nearly impossible to lose weight, elevated my blood pressure from 120/60 to 140/80, made my ankles swell and made me tired all the time. Years later I still can't reverse the effects and medical science isn't offering any solutions. Diet and exercise are only marginally effective and the results easily reverse. Using this product is one of the worst things that I've ever done to my body. Be careful.

I started to take Ortho Cyclen when my acne started to act up. I was on Ortho Cyclen for about 1.5 years, then noticed no vaginal discharge or lubrication. My OBGYN decided to put my on Ortho Tri Cylcen, I was on this for 6 months. Both helped with the acne, but I still had vaginal discomfort. I wouldn't suggest this pill to anyone. It took a toll on my three year relationship, and threatened my new one. I have been off birth control for about 2 weeks, and already have see a huge difference.
