I've taken 3 doses, one month apart. My hips and joints are killing me. I have been migraine free, however I am so uncomfortable. I was told the only side effects were regarding the injection site. That is impossible, since all drugs can have various side effects It wasn't until I read other reviews that I correlated my joint pain to this drug.

Day 14, the headache is felt worse upon awaking. Today like a 6. Not working for me. Plus, my left hand is hurting for no reason. Like a tendinitis or something and no reason for that to occur.

Horrible side effects. I have an autoimmune disease. Was told by my Dr this med has no side effects and would not hurt my autoimmune condition or make worse. Since starting this medication 3 months ago I have seen horrible side effects related to pain in my body. I already dealt with joint pain on a daily basis but now I have constant daily muscle pain in every part of my body. I feel a constant need to stretch my muscles and I cannot get any relief from the pain. I contacted my neurologist today because I am pretty sure this is related to this med. I have had autoimmune issues since I was a child and this pain is completely different as it is muscle related. I will no longer take this medication. I did get some relief in intensity of migraine for about three weeks and then the 4th week my migraines were so intense until I took the shot again.Read More Read Less

the month I started this rx I had only 2 migraines, the next month 4, the month after 4, this month is 10 days in and I've had 5 already. While the pain is less intense and the duration has lessened, I am concerned by the increasing frequency of headaches over time. I have another month to go on my prescription before making a final judgment. Though I haven't come across any articles that mention becoming resistant to or building a tolerance against Emgality, I wonder if it could be a possibility. Read More Read Less

I was getting about 25 migraines/month and my body wasn't responding to any medication my doctors were prescribing (maxalt, butabital, ketorolac). I had really high hopes for this to work but I'm on month 4 and my migraines have somehow gotten worse. I get insanely nauseated to the point I have to refill my zofran prescription twice/month. I'm getting really bad anxiety, veritgo has developed and my toes cramp after the injection. I feel like by month 4 these should be getting better and not making my life worse?? I've had zero relief from this.Read More Read Less

Helped my migraines but about 5 months in started to cause HORRIBLE side effects, brain fog, severe anxiety, insomnia, etc. Please do your research before trying this drug.

Works great for my migraines. I just couldn't handle the anxiety side effects! I could work with my migraines if I powered through. The anxiety was so overwhelming! I couldn't leave the house at times and would start to feel like my whole body was vibrating as one would in an emergency situation but nothing was going on. Unbearable for me. Had to stop taking the shots

I have had headaches for 20 years and was using 15 Imitrex a month. I started Emgality 3 months ago and have had to take ONE Imitrex in the past 90 days!!! I want to yell and advertise how much this has changed my life... no side effects, no triggers for migraine - I can drink alcohol and wake up totally fine.. LIFE CHANGING

I went from having migraines for 2/3 of the month to 0 since taking Emgality. I am on my 2nd month of taking this and have had absolutely no side effects or headaches (migraine or cluster) of any kind. Even my normal triggers aren't triggering a migraine. I feel like wearing a shirt that says "I <3 Emgality".

Terrible side effects from Emgality. I think they need to rename it ANXIETY! The anxiety has been life altering, I have had to change my plans and alter my schedule just to deal with the crippling anxiety. It causes irritability, itchy skin-all over, and just a nervousness that is hard to explain. I am eager for this crap to get out of my system, I want to be myself again. Very disappointed with this drug that my doctor said "has no side effects." I think it wasn't researched enough. Sad, so much promise of help, only to cause worse problems. Migraines are bad, but it is better to hurt than to feel like you are losing your mind. Run from this sham of a medicine!Read More Read Less

The medicine works great, my issue is with the Emgality coupon savings department. I have had headaches/migraines every day for the last 20 yrs or more, within a week of taking the first dose I was headache/migraine free until they refused to fill my prescription saying the pre-authorization had to be sent in. After 2 weeks of calling daily I still don't have a resolution and have had 2 migraines and multiple headaches.

After 10 plus years of having many migraines per month, I was having 10 or so per month and ready to try anything. I've been on Emgality for five months, and my migraines have slowly decreased down to none! I have not had one now for 6 weeks, and last month was the first time in 10 years that I did not have a migraine associated with my period. I have experienced no side effects but am very leery of what the long term effects could be. I keep my eyes open and do my research to find out anything the professionals are learning about negative long term issues. However, this has drastically improved my daily life and I'm very thankful for it.Read More Read Less

After years of daily migraines, my Neurologist suggested this medication. I can not express how much I regret agreeing to do so! My neurologist stated that this med had no reported side effects. I’m learning that was due to a lack of medical trials. My initial shot and booster went fine. Now I’m having migraines that last 3-4 days and bring about nonstop vomiting (I never vomited with my migraines prior to this). The worst part is that upon this realization all I can do is wait for the medication to run it’s course and leave my system!!!! Don’t serve as one of their guinea pigs!!!! Don’t repeat my mistake.....Read More Read Less

I’ve been on Emgality now for a few months. The week after the shot I tend to feel exhausted a little flu like feeling and my kidneys are colicky but it has almost completely kicked my migraines to the curb. I’m trying to be patient as the medical community doesn’t know how these meds interact with all bodily systems at this point. I’m not angry with my doctors as many are because I know this is a new drug and I took it at my own risk. I will say that as months have gone by, my symptoms have gotten somewhat better and my migraines continue to decrease. There seems to be a wide variety of symptoms people are experiencing, and to that I say keep posting everyone. The more we share our experiences, the more we will learn and the quicker we will learn it. Good luck to all of us!Read More Read Less

I have chronic pain from an accident and also neuropathy in both feet, "Non-Diabetic, Large Nerve type". I take an opioid and Lyrica daily to combat this. I was given two shots of this med as a "Loading Dose". Four hours later my pain began to increase. 24 hours after the initial dose my nerve pain in both feet became very nearly, "Unbearable". "Lily", the drug company whom makes this has a, "Help line". It turned out to be the antithesis of it's own name. Apparently there is "No Known Way", to counteract this drug once given! This according to Lili's, "Help Line". They could not even tell me the drugs- "Half-Life". Because they do not know. I really wish that this had been disclosed "BEFORE" the shots were administered. So beware! Any problems which you happen to incur during the drugs initial use? You are now stuck with! For me that's allot of pain.Read More Read Less

Was in the 4th week of a cluster which means the migraine were rapidly increasing in strength until they are unbearable. Tried Emgality and the headaches disappeared in 3 days. Completely gone. And the cluster disappeared instead of what would have been 2 more weeks of the worst migraines possible. I don't know if the cluster will start again in a few months, but it's been 9 months of monthly dosing and I've not had a migraine yet. I won't really know for sure for another 6 months, but if the clusters really are gone for good, it's nothing short of a miracle. Been having clusters once a year lasting 5 weeks for 35 years. Let's find out. Zero side effects, too. Anyone thinking of trying this med for cluster migraines, run to your doctor and stop suffering. No, I don't work for the drugs company even though this sounds like I do. :)Read More Read Less
