I am 30 years old and I was prescribed Tamiflu after being diagnosed with the flu. I felt better within a few hours of taking it. I was amazed. I was really sick and was worried that I may have to be hospitalized. I had been running a high fever and could hardly breathe. The only downside were the side effects. They were pretty bad. It left a terrible taste in my mouth and made everything I ate a...

my 4 year old daughter got the flu and i had to give the medicine to her twice a day. She threw up everyday and her fever was up and down. At first i thought the medicine was not helping until the sixth day. she took the medicine for five days and the next morning, she was herself. Bouncing off the walls.TAmiflu does help but dont skip a dose.

My six year old daughter took this medication I gave her crackers like the label directed me. But she just threw up. I've given the medicine three times and everytime she gets sick. I just threw it away.

The side effects from this drug are horrible and a bit disturbing. Although I was feeling some better after the 2nd dose I just don't know if I can handle another dose or not. This is the third day I've taken it but the side effects seem to be getting worse...vomiting, dizziness, being whacked out of my gourd, feeling kinda like I was having an out of body experience, changes in my breathing when I was able to sleep, and a terrible headache which isn't listed as a side effect but I wonder if it is. I just feel funny all over. I did take the flu shot both last year and this year as well and have had the flu 2 years in a row. Last year I didn't take tamiflu because it was so expensive and dr. though it may be a little late for it to be as effective...started taking this time within 24 hours but I'm thinkin I'd rather have just toughed it out. I don't really know if it has helped me. I came into the doctor with sore muscles, a stomach ache, headache, sore throat, cough, the works... I took it and in addition to the symptoms I had before I couldn't sleep the first night because I was so nauseous, even taking it with food, although I had no appetite. The next morning I threw up after 2 hours of sleep. I still missed 3 days of school, only the stomach ache went away, although it did come back for a day. My aches are gone now I have 4 pills left. All other symptoms are gone, other than diarrhea, but I have an awful severe cough, I think it's bronchitis. I cant tell if Tamiflu has worked for me or not since taking it the cough has gotten way worse and it has heightened my anxiety.Read More Read Less

My 22 month old daughter was diagnosed with influenza B. Her first and second doses (30ml) were immediately thrown up. I ended up mixing it with her juice. Upon calling our pharmacist, she said that it is one of the major problems with this medication. My daughter was able to keep it down with juice and I started to see her feeling better within hours.

Tamiflu was prescribed for our 6 year old son after having been diagnosed with the flu. He received his first does around noon the first day and his second dose approx. 9 hours later. About an hour or so after his second dose, while he was asleep, he woke up extremely confused and disoriented. He kept saying that things were flying around his head and that there were strings in his head. He babbled and rambled on and off for most of the night and at times was very scared. Needless to say, we discontinued the Tamiflu and will unfortunately just have to let the flu run it's course. We were very alarmed and disappointed with the results of the Tamiflu and would not consider using it again.Read More Read Less

It works fine for me. No side effects. I tested positive for Influenza Type A. I think most people had problems with this because they should never have been prescribed it. Some said they weren't even tested for the flu, just prescribed it as a precaution. There is a difference between Influenza and "The Stomach Flu" which is really Gastroenteritis. It is expensive, I paid $117 and some change, but it was well worth it if you have the real Influenza virus. It really helps for the side effects. I'm glad I didn't listen to the pharmacist who almost talked me out of getting it. It has done wonders for me. My only side effect is it makes me really sleepy and I fall asleep almost within seconds of taking it. I love Tamiflu. Read More Read Less

It left a terrible taste in my mouth and made everything I ate and drank taste terrible, like the medicine. I also felt very strange. I was very anxious, and had tense muscles with random tremors. My vision was a little blurry and everything just seemed to look weird or different. It is hard to explain, but it was very uncomfortable. I also felt confused a lot and I was having very strange thoughts, sometimes disturbing. This all may sound strange, but it is true. I want this to get out there so people can hear from someone that has had an unpleasant experience. I have been taking it for four days and still have one day left (two pills). I think I am going to skip the last two doses because I feel much better (from the flu symptoms) but I am growing more anxious the longer I take the medicine. Looking back, I'm not sure if I would have taken it knowing what I know now. I was feeling so strange that I did some research and discovered all this stuff about Tamiflu. It definitely made me feel better, but I traded that for a few days of semi-madness. I think I'll just get a flu vaccine next time so I don't have to worry about it. If I still get sick, I might just take my chances without the Tamiflu. I feel like I am on some kind of bad drug and I am close to losing control. Not a good feeling. Plus it cost me $100 for ten pills. I hope this helps anyone who may have questions or curiosities.Read More Read Less

Doctor told me "no cure for the flu, we can just stop it in it's tracks". Found out my husband and I were infected by a friend we bowled with two nights before. I chose the Tamiflu, my husband decided to sweat it out - literally. Threw up after the first dosage. After the second dosage (eating a snack before taking this time) got diarrea. But my symptoms slowly dissapeared. So did my husbands though with just some over the counter drugs. Oh Well. Hopefully my symptoms will clear up before his after spending the $45 for the drug.Read More Read Less

I quit after 2 doses. Nausea and head to toe bright red rash covering my whole body. Swollen ankles and toes. Am still recovering after going to emergency for help days later. Terrible. I threw the rest away.

Although I was happy to get rid of my flu symptoms in around 3 days, I'm not sure if the trade-in was worth it. Right now, I am suffering from bronchitis and severe insomnia. However, these are not the most common side-effects, so for most this seems like a great option.

Although I'm not sure if I would have gotten the flu had I not taken the flu, I took it and it was fairly harmless. It's easy to take and since it is only once a day, you can take it before or after work or school. The only recommendation I have is that you take it on a full stomach or towards the end of the day. I was fine the first 4 days I took the drug because I'd been taking it in the middle of the day however on the 5th day, I was back to work after holiday vacation. I did not want to forget to take the medication so I took it before I left the house (before breakfast). Bad idea. I began feeling naucious about an hour after I took it and finally vomitted when I got to work. Another person in my family who had to take the pill because she was exposed to the same flu infected person as I was, also vomitted because she took it on an empty stomach. Don't listen to the box. Always take this medication once you already have food in you!Read More Read Less

Doctor prescribed this for my flu like symptoms. For the first three days I had chills then fever every 3-4 hours during the day. usually around 10 PM or so I would get real hot and the fever would break and I thought that was it, but in a few hours the cycle started again and I barely slept. On the fourth day in the afternoon, like a veil being lifted almost all of my symptoms went away. I am in the last day of the 5-day course and now seem to have a decent case of bronchitis. I don't have the chills and fevers but I do have "sweating" sessions, went through 4 shirts during the fourth night. Mediocre results for me.Read More Read Less

I gave this medicine to my then 4 year old daughter and she feel asleep within minutes when she woke up about 30 minutes later she was halicinating and grabbing at the air as if there was something there. She was very tearful and didn't seem to know what was going on. I never gave her another does I would rather deal with two more days of symptoms than watch my preschooler behave like she is on LSD!
