I am 30 years old and I was prescribed Tamiflu after being diagnosed with the flu. I felt better within a few hours of taking it. I was amazed. I was really sick and was worried that I may have to be hospitalized. I had been running a high fever and could hardly breathe. The only downside were the side effects. They were pretty bad. It left a terrible taste in my mouth and made everything I ate a...

My daughter was given tamiflu for early treatment of the flu. She took 3 doses and had to hospitalized due to her liver function test being almost triple the normal and she had a very depressed white blood cell count. the leaflet they give in the package does not say anything about these side affects but the Roche laboratories website for tamiflu has them listed adviseing that they did not find th...

I experienced absolutely terrible side effects from Tamiflu. I would have rather had the flu for months than take Tamiflu. After taking 4 pills (2 pills twice a day), I started experiencing pins and needles in both my legs, which eventually led to numbness, and then to muscle pain and full on leg spasms. I also experienced insomnia, extreme anxiety, and a decline in mental "awareness". I thought I had conversations that never happened and had some very disturbing intrusive thoughts. I didn't sleep for 4 nights straight and I've never had a problem sleeping before. During the 4 days after stopping taking the tamiflu, I couldn't eat as well, due to the extreme anxiety. I originally thought this was just all the flu, but my doctor said this was actually all side effects from taking Tamiflu. More than a week later after stopping tamiflu, I'm still dealing with all the above issues, particularly the anxiety and insomnia. Doctor thinks it could be a month until I'm back to normal.Read More Read Less

I have nothing bad to say about this drug. This is my second time being prescribed this medication and it once again working wonderfully for me. Within 48 hours I was up and around with minor flu symptoms. I am on day-4 of a 5-day dose ... and no side effects at all.

I went to the doctor on Thursday night. Had the flu. Dr prescribed tamiflu. I'm on the 4th round and I'm feeling almost 100% better! I did get a little bit of the side effects like vomiting and diahrrea. But if you actually have the flu you won't mind the side effects to get rid of it.

I had no issues other than everything tastes extremely salty. But I feel 100% better. On day 2 of the pill. If anything changes I will write again. Pete

Stay far away from this drug. I honestly canâ??t believe they give this to children and adults. Tamiflu has very bad side effects. I couldnâ??t figure out why I was vomiting all day. It makes your body so weak, light headed, and I had bad chills. I rather fight off the infection by myself before I think about taking this drug. Be aware!!!

I took this med as prescribed for 5 days. My temp and chills disappeared next day. On day 3 I developed an itchy red rash, very clearly visible on my torso and both arms. I read the enclosed leaflet that came in the package and it clearly stated that this may cause a rash if you were allergic to it. I've never had allergies before. It itched so badly I managed to take capsules for 5 days but had to stop. This is the first day after no medication and my head feels very thick, I'm tired and I haven't any appetite. This is day 6 since I realized I had the flu so since I can't continue meds, I'll keep drinking ginger tea so I don't become dehydrated and just stick close to home since my thinking feels extremely dull. I am a very young 88 years old. I don't recommend this medication and am disappointed my VIP doctor didn't warn me about side effects--but then he never does. end. Read More Read Less

So had s bout with the flu. I was prescribed Tamiflu and I can say from the first dose I started feeling much better, however once I took the 4th dose the next night, (you take one in the morning and one at night) that is when the issues started. I literally could not sleep at night and at first I could not figure out why. I had a strong feeling of nervousness, anxiety, some depression and the feeling of no matter what I did I could not get comfortable which contributed to mood swings. I‘ve never had any physiological issues ever but this drug is something else. My empathy for people who have persistent psychological issue has went up %1000. Yes it works but be aware of your mental fitness using this drug. I would even say take it once a day in the morning and leave it at that.Read More Read Less

Was prescribed this when 24wks pregnant and diagnosed with Flu A. Not sure if it worked to reduce time ill as it was over 3 days in and starting to feel a little better anyway but may have reduced complications developing as had none. Really stressed myself out over possible side effects being worse than the results, however, just want to share that apart from a little head fuzziness (which may have been the flu anyway) I had no side effects. Made sure I took then with food and plenty of fluids, all was fine so I think worth a try as may have prevented further complications which is what they aim to avoid when prescribed in pregnancy.Read More Read Less

Diagnosed with the Flu and started Tamiflu within 48 hours after 2 days on it I had rapid improvement. I tend to be sensitive to medications and side effects but have had no issues taking this.

My husband was diagnosed with the flu after swab test. The doctor said I could take Tamiflu once a day and that would prevent me from getting the flu. I took it with food but still had three hours of nausea and extreme fatigue. All day I would feel drugged, sluggish. After two days, I switched to taking it at night before bed. That took care of the nausea but all I want to do is sleep! I am also struggling to stay focused and keep my emotions in check. I haven't become sick with the flu but I don't know how much longer I can function like this. I can't imagine my misery if I was taking it twice a day! There's no way I would tolerate it.Read More Read Less

I had flu symptoms and sharp pains in chest and didn’t want to get pneumonia again so the doctor prescribed this at the hospital the first symptoms started with a mild vomiting the next day and it was slight yellow skin on my face that went away but I felt really weird and vision became sensitive By the third day I was ok from the flu but I noticed these side effects must be the tamiflu I then had a massive nose bleed and I decided to go back to hospital they then did a blood test told me to stop taking it that it’s now caused my liver problems ! And I need further test to see what it did so after 45$ and taking 5 pills out of 10 i will be investigating this medication! Read More Read Less

I was diagnosed with the flu on a Thursday. I began to immediately take it. I did have diarrhea as a side effect, as well as dizziness and headache. I do have a weak stomach, so I expected the GI distress. I didn't mind taking it at night, but it was difficult taking it during the day. Not sure if it even shortened my flu (had it Wednesday night - Monday). It did give me night sweats, especially toward the end of my illness. I'm not sure if I would take it again if I got the flu.

I will never take this medicine at night ever again. I could not sleep, and when I did, my dreams were disturbing and felt as if I was coming in and out of my dreams. Not that I was hallucinating, but I would be awake and yet still feel I was in my dream. It caused confusion, and as I mentioned prior, some really disturbing thoughts. Just take caution while on this medication. I would take it again because it was effective, however, I will not take it twice a day.

My first pill was given to me in the er. Got home fell asleep right away. Woke up later in the day took my second dose fell asleep for a little while. After I woke up I couldn't stop coughing. I also had a runny nose with constant sneezing. Haven't slept since I woke up and definitely feel like I can't or won't. I do have a funny taste in my mouth almost like I've been throwing up. I did have a moment where stuff tasted like raspberries. And it has turned the mucus in my sinus cavity to liquid. I definitely felt better after the first dose and a lot better after the second dose. However the bizarre side effects I'm experiencing I'm not so sure what to expect as I continue the treatment. I will say it works but to what cost is based on the individual.Read More Read Less

We had to go to the ER in the night because my 11 year old son couldn't breathe, 103 degree temp, weird croupy cough. He tested positive for Influenza A and was given a breathing treatment and Tamiflu. Couldn't keep the Tamiflu down (especially with all of the mucus pouring into his stomach) so we added Zofran 30 min before each dose with food. He acts weird on it but he's alive. He still had two days of coughing where we did steam every 4 hrs to loosen up chest but coughwaa at least productive, now just stuffy nose and little cough. This all set in in just 3 hours and it's a very aggressive virus. The rest of us started the prophylactic dose. It makes us feel odd- blurry vision, upset stomach, a little disoriented. After seeing what our son went through we're all willing to push on. If side effects are manageable stick with it. If not, stop. If you truly have an aggressive strain of Influenza A, there's a short window to start this, and remember the virus is causing symptoms too. Drink tons of water and eat with it. Read More Read Less

I woke up after poor sleep at 5 am with chest tightness and coughing up mucus, wheezing, and feeling feverish. I have a lot of health issues, just got over a viral illness. Hadn't felt like this suddenly in a long time. I have asthma so I did my steroid inhaler and albuterol, and aromatherapy, and took Mucinex DM for chest congestion to loosen mucus and suppress some of the cough and make it more productive so I could cough up the mucus and get it out. I also used nasal saline spray and flonase (fluticasone ) nasal spray, which I do daily anyway to avoid illnesses, flush out allergens, prevent sinus infections. Which works, as I used to get them years back, and I don’t touch my face, rub my eyes, use good hand washing, etc. But I did this for a day, and a night, woke up after split sleep feeling no better if not worse. Called the dr office got appt for afternoon. Thought it was chest stuff maybe sinus too, I’m a retired family nurse practitioner, RN since ‘93 also having seen this a lot they did give me shot of steroid and shot of antibiotic and because my ears hurt and I have autoimmune, Am high risk, yes did get flu shot, got Rx for Levaqin as pneumonia can be life threatening to me as I was on immunosuppressive meds for 10 years to try and half the damage to my body the issues I had. At the dr office after water and Tylenol my temp was still upper 99.9. So last thing did Flu swab. I lay my head back on the wall thinking last time I felt this bad I had the flu and strep, ear infection and high temp, no Tamiflu just antibiotic This time. Diagnosed with Influenza A. Started feeling better even though only got 3 hr 50 min sleep, coughing, asthma stuff, flu symptoms gone, second dose, fever going away, well worth it. Just because one person has negative reaction doesn’t mean the other will. Also check drug interactions, and flu risk/benefit. Last flu had bad, no Tamiflu ‘01 returned after week off had grand mal seizure-dehydration Read More Read Less

I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have minor side effects from tamiflu. Within 12 hours of taking my first dose, I felt 75% better. If it wasn't for the cough I still have, I wouldn't even know I had the flu. Worst side effect for me is anxiety. My pulse is kinda high (100+) and I'm sweating and typically out of breath, but I do have chest congestion so it may actually just be the flu symptoms themselves giving me these side effects, not the drug. Honestly though, I'd rather trip balls than die of pneumonia or sepsis, so even if I did get worse side effects, I'd still take the meds. The flu is no joke. I was pretty sick before starting tamiflu and 48 hours later, I'm not.Read More Read Less

Read the list of side effects from this medicine. It sent my husband to the hospital with hallucinations, red/purple rash covering his body from head to toe, shortness of breath and extremely high fever. He was in the hospital for four days due to adverse reactions to Tamiflu.

After 4 days of taking tamiflu, my flu symptoms are gone. However. I'm dizzy and have heart palpitations. Not taking the last pill. I will be getting flu shot. Do not like how I feel on tamiflu.
