I am 30 years old and I was prescribed Tamiflu after being diagnosed with the flu. I felt better within a few hours of taking it. I was amazed. I was really sick and was worried that I may have to be hospitalized. I had been running a high fever and could hardly breathe. The only downside were the side effects. They were pretty bad. It left a terrible taste in my mouth and made everything I ate a...

My daughter was given tamiflu for early treatment of the flu. She took 3 doses and had to hospitalized due to her liver function test being almost triple the normal and she had a very depressed white blood cell count. the leaflet they give in the package does not say anything about these side affects but the Roche laboratories website for tamiflu has them listed adviseing that they did not find th...

I was very sick with the flu. My doctor suggested Tamiflu since I was at risk for pneumonia. After three doses, I began feeling like my flu was getting worse. I had periods of extreme sweating. The second night on Tamiflu I woke up after 2 hours and felt disoriented and anxious. I could not get back to sleep. I began to feel a sense of hopelessness. I even told my wife there was nothing she could do to help me. I decided to delay my sixth dose and the further time went by the better I felt. I have no doubt I was fighting the effects of the Tamiflu rather than the flu by then. I do believe the Tamiflu helped me. I think I recovered from the flu very quickly, but the side effects from the Tamiflu were some of the worst I've ever experienced. I'm not going to take my last 5 doses and hope I don't relapse with the flu.Read More Read Less

I now believe that the pharmaceutical department is a business this medication is the worst do not take. Took for 3 days and it was the worst thing I could have done dizziness vomiting nauseated headache it's the flu itself.. I rather wait a few days to feel better.. SERIOUSLY.. this is not a med that should be taken for 5 days 1day is enough..

Only side effect I have noticed was insomnia. I was wondering why I had the flu (got from my mom who tested positive for Influenza A) and I was only sleeping between 3 and 5 hours a night (I wasn't even tired. I had to force myself to sleep). My usual is between 9 and 10 hours. But make no mistake about it, this medication appears to have alleviated my symptoms from progressing anywhere past a mildly sore throat, a mild cough, and a hoarse voice. Flu symptoms only lasted for 2 days. The only bothersome thing for me is that this medication is obviously CNS active based on the side effects that I experienced and that I have read online, but I have found no research on this drug's CNS effects. I doubt anyone knows what this drug does in the brain, and I doubt anyone bothered to do much research on this aspect of the drug. In fact, data on this drug appears to be more limited than what I would have hoped. Thankfully, it has been safe for me this time around.Read More Read Less

My 10yr daughter was perscribed this drug after exhibiting signs of flu( test was neg) brother had tested positive for flu 3days earlier. I gave her 4-5 doses. It was THE WORST thing I could have gave her. It has been over 2 1/2 weeks and she still has high levels of anxiety, she has not walked correctly since taking it. She holds onto walls or anything to help support her. Even crawls. Nightmares, not able to go to sleep or stay asleep for long. She has expressed signs of depression. She had 3 random nose bleeds in 1 afternoon. Constant dizziness. And im sure that not everything. I am very scared that this drug has changed my daughter in so many ways and i dont know if she can recover or if its permanent. DO NOT TAKE THIS DRUG! IT ONLY SHORTENS SICKNESS BY HOURS. NOTHING I HAVE READ ABOUT OR EXPERIENCED. MY LITTLE GIRL IS NOT OKAY!Read More Read Less

I've taken 4 doses of tamiflu & am stopping this medication because of side effects. The first 2 nights with the flu (before I started to take tamiflu) I didn't get any night sweats. Once I started the tamiflu, the 2 nights since starting this medication I have constant severe night sweats. After just 30-50 minutes of sleeping I wake up drenched in sweat. The first night I changed t-shirts 3 times & had to lay a bath towel under me while I slept. The second night I layed a towel down before I even went to bed, soaked through the first t-shirt in 40 minutes of sleep & after that just stayed naked. Still couldn't sleep longer than 50 minutes at a time & would then be awake for 2 hours until me & my bedding had dried. Everything was do soaked & it's winter so it was so cold & uncomfortable I couldn't sleep at all. The first night on tamiflu I could sleep only because I was so exhausted from fighting the flu. Tamiflu is making my situation worse if I can't get any sleep at night because of the severe night sweats. I'm stopping this medication & I'll never take it again & will never encourage anyone to take this medication. Especially after reading reviews of what others have experienced with tamiflu, I don't know why doctors prescribe this to so many patients. It's very negligent for doctors to prescribe this medication to patients who don't have a serious need for it (like weakened immune system etc). Read More Read Less

From a both patient and caregiver viewpoint I must emphasis that the risks and side effects in our experience do seem legitimate. My 10 year old daughter, with first dose won day two of symptononset began violently puking within about 30 min of taking the medicine along with extreme dizziness, and confusion (this is the same reaction she had ar around 2 yes of age with the medication.. I had thought with that experience perhaps it was her age, or the flu itself).. I was RXd this go around as well as preventative and have experienced headache, extreme dizziness, eyes burning bad, confusion flush sweats, rapid heartbeat and chest pains when I attempt to take a deep breath.. I will not be bringing the medication into our home again.. for our family the side effects do not put weigh any potential benefit this medication may have.. Read More Read Less

I was near the 48 hour mark when diagnosed with the flu. Upon taking Tamiflu, my symptoms subsided overnight (I took tamiflu at 6pm and in the morning my symptoms had subsided). I have the side effect of nausea, but that was expected as I get upset stomach easily and one of the common side effect for this drug is nausea.

My husband and myself have taken this drug for 8 days with no problems. Was worth taking and not getting the flu. My 3 year old grandson really benifited from it. He most likely would have been in the hospital.

I already had the flu, and my symptoms had decreased significantly around day three. That night, however, I started hallucinating and vomiting. By day five, my dad had to carry me to his truck, then into the ER, as I was unable to walk on my own. After the third bag of fluids, I was back to my pre-flu self, and was advised to discard the remainder of the medication.

This drug is an absolute joke. Gave me a horrific cough and I’ve barely been able to sleep a wink since I started taking it. Had no idea about these side effects until I was four days in. Just got outa bed and dumped the last capsule out into the trash. Never in a million years would I EVER consider taking this medication again. Please beware!!! Just power through if you’ve got the flu...I promise you’ll be better off.

Tamiflu was prescribed for my almost 4 mo old baby with confirmed case Of flu since sheâ??s so young/high risk. She was wired for a solid 12 hr post 1st dose administration, prompting me to further research side effects/ect. Things are looking up for her so needless to say, will not continue with this med. I pray Iâ??m doing the right thing.

I had hallucinations at night of a dark figure standing outside my bedroom, severe anxiety, insomnia, sore throat, extreme dizziness, nausea. It was horrible. I thought I was just really sick with the flu so I kept taking it. On the last day, I felt so horrible that I finally read these side effects. Wish I could’ve read them sooner because I didn’t realize that the drug caused such terrible, scary side effects.

My husband took Tamiflu in February 2018 to help fight flu. He lost his sense of smell and taste while taking the drug. Per his ENT doctor this is side effect of the drug. He is not expected to get his sense of smell and taste back.

On Monday night I could tell something was off. By Tuesday morning The Flu had arrived - fever promptly spiking to 102, incessant runny nose and cough, body stiffness and total lack of energy. I started taking Tamiflu Wednesday evening and there was a noticeable improvement on Thursday - fever and cough not as out of hand, and a general feeling that I was going to turn a corner shortly. And today, Friday, fever below 100.4 without Tylenol. Victory! I plan on going back to work on Sunday. I think without Tamiflu recovery without have been slow and incremental. I am really glad I took it even though all the reviews listing crazy side effects scared me. This is why I wanted to review this medication: All I experienced in terms of side effects were a bit of loose stool (once) and an ongoing metallic taste in the mouth. And the packaging is a pain. All worthwhile given how utterly miserable I was just a few days ago!Read More Read Less

Tamiflu is amazing. Started treatment within 20 hours of symptoms starting. Within 2 hours I felt almost completely cured. Body aches, chills, and fever all gone. The only remaining flu symptoms were a slight sore throat and some congestion. I did not have any side effects.

I came down with symptoms on Sunday. I do not like to run to the doctor for every ache, preferring to be more natural in my healthcare. But by Wed, I begged my husband to take me to the ER. My 15-yr-old was having body aches that afternoon, so he went, too. I tested positive for the Flu. Although I was way past the 48 hr mark, the Dr. gave us 3 Rx for Tamiflu. My husband was already feeling swelling in his lymph nodes. I can't honestly say if it helped me. I feel that Wed. was the peak and I would get better from there, but since I was having a hard time breathing, the Dr. wanted to make sure it didn't go into pneumonia. I will say that it was totally worth it as prevention for my husb and son. My son was down for 2-3 days, "out-of-it" but never full-blown sick, and my husb never did get ill. $100 is a lot for prevention, but you have to decide if it's worth it to not miss up to 2 weeks of work while feeling like death. As a note on side-effects...do NOT take on empty stomach. I ate just a little with my first dose and was slightly nauseated a couple of hours later. I was so thirsty, I drank a full glass of water and it went away. Remembering that, I never had nausea issues again.Read More Read Less

Horrible! Got diagnosed with the flu yesterday and got prescribed Tamiflu to help reduce symptoms. I was told to eat with it, even though it says on the box it can be taken with or without food. I made sure I ate with it anyways to help avoid side effects. About an hour later, I woke up with the worst stomach ache and shortly after that, I threw up about 5 times. The stomach ache lasted the entire rest of the day and I had no appetite what so ever after that. I decided that that side effect alone was enough for me to discontinue using Tamiflu. The other side effects are bad enough as well. I will be letting my body heal on its own.Read More Read Less

Diagnosed with the flu and give Tamiflu. But the Tamiflu seems to be mimicking pregnancy symptoms. Heightened sense of smell, and painful, swollen breasts with slight discharge from nipples. Definitely not pregnant. Don't know what is going on.

Terrible side effects. Blurred vision, fAtigue, anxious, bad dreams. But the worst is the bad taste in my mouth. It has been two weeks since I took any tamiflu. All my food tastes bad, my nasal passages have a terrible smell. The taste is like spoiled milk all the time. There have been several times Icould barely keep food down because it smells and tastes so bad. I had never taken tamiflu before and will never take tamiflu again.
