I've had post-viral syndrome for 9 months and migraines came with it. I am having 4 sinus migraines a day and Topomax and Fioricet just made it worse. Baclofen was a horror as I could not function at all, and I'm already on Effexor, which doesn't help, either. I was hoping with Nurcet being a new drug, that it would be some type of breakthrough. Judging from the other reviews it apparently helps...

I was prescribed this medication to take every other day. It does make migraines better but I find it takes several hours to gain relief. It does cause severe stomach upset for me and it causes drowsiness for me as well.

After my migraines became unbearable I went to a pain doctor who gave me some samples of Nurtec. I then went to a Neurologist who recommended that it was the correct medication for me to continue taking. I took it every other day, had no side effects, and my migraines went away. This lasted for many months until my prescription refills expired. Around a month later I started experiencing migraines again on a daily basis. I have gotten a prescription to start taking it again and am hoping that I will have the same fantastic results that I previously experienced. With the ease of opening the package (unlike Sumatriptan which is very difficult, especially when experiencing a migraine), and then just putting it under your tongue, I don’t know how it could be any easier to use. Has worked wonders for me and I am thankful that I am one of the lucky ones that it works for. Read More Read Less

After trying and failing with Emgality shots for 3 months, doc started Nurtec. It's been 2 weeks of taking it every other day. I am now on 6th straight day of migraine, which does not usually go more than 4 days in a row. Apparently, it does not work for me. I am giving up on the CGRP's. It seems like a scam to me.

Started taking this medication as a preventative so every other day. Started end of October 2021. After a week or so on the medicine i started having joint pain for no reason. Never associated it with Nurtec. By the end of January i was having extreme crippling joint pain that would last all day, go away for a day or two and then come back someplace else. I have had joint pain in the top of my feet, both my ankles, both knees both shoulders both sides of my neck, both wrists, and both index fingers and thumbs. The last straw was when i came out of my doctors appt one day and literally limped out. (I walked in fine). By the time i got to my car my right wrist had suddenly swelled up and i could barely touch it, it was that painful. I could barely steer my car home, had to use my left hand. I finally connected the dots and confirmed it when i went on another website and found other people were having sudden suspicious joint pain. I have now been off for a week and have a little pain here and there but nothing that is disabling like before. I’m hoping it will resolve 100 % in the near future. Will be talking to my neurologist about this. Overall the Nurtec helped my migraines and kept them away longer but the joint pain is not worth it. Read More Read Less

I have had chronic migraine headaches with nausea for about 40 years. I have tried just about every treatment, but nothing worked until I started taking Nurtec about two months ago. I agree that it is miraculous. I take it at the first sign that a migraine is building. It starts working after about an hour and completely eliminates all headache pain. Sometimes nausea persists, but no head pain.

To be fair, I've only finished my first 8 tablets (which is two weeks over one every other day). So far I've not noticed it preventing migraines (in fact, I believe one day it triggered migraine, although I can't prove that). As for treating my migraines, nope. I've had to use my Imitrex injection. I hope it's just a matter of the medication needing to "kick in," but I'm totally bummed out so far. So disappointing.

I have suffered from migraines since I was 16. I've been taking Zomig (zolmitriptan) for over 20 years and it has worked wonders for me, but my doctor thought that, because of the vasoconstrictive effects of triptans and my increasing age, I should try something else. She recommended Nurtec. I've been trying it for 2 months and it doesn't do a thing for my migraines, nor does it work as a preventative.

Taken every other day as a preventative. Worked great until my third dose. I ended up in emergency room due to severe chest pain and continual vomiting. After multiple tests including ct scan, ekgs, etc I was “cleared” to go home with some dissipation of symptoms and told to stop taking nurtec.

My doctor prescribed Nurtec first as an abortive medication , and it did absolutely nothing! My doctor then told me that it can also be used as a preventative migraine medication. She had me take one every other day. I'm still having daily chronic migraine. I do notice that after I take it it can actually ignite a migraine, I think that's because they have added sucralose in the inactive ingredients. There are migraine sufferers, like me, who cannot take any artificial sweeteners. Foolish to put that in this medication for migraine sufferers! Also, when they have a Kardashian, and Whoopi Goldberg doing commercials for them, that raises a flag to me right there!. How much money do you think they're making to endorse this medication? The pharmaceutical companies are really deceptive and are out for their billions and billions! I'm very glad it works for some people, just wondering down the road what kind of long-term side effects this medication may have? Pharmaceutical companies are not required by the FDA to test medications long-term before they are put on the market! We find out about all the negative stuff after they are on the market , usually years later! Good example is Zantac! And I was told all of that by the FDA when I called them. I frequently call them when my doctors want to give me any new medication so I can get the real Lowdown! The pharmaceutical companies post a lot of things about these medications that are false, and like to make them sound much better than they really are. They leave out a lot of information as well. I hate that because of my desperation I feel like I am at the mercy of these billion dollar pharmaceutical companies.Read More Read Less

I have been suffering from hormone migraines since i started perimenopause about 4 years ago. I can not take acetaminophen due to overuse and ibuprofen is not an option with my ulcerative colitis. I have tried all the triptans and they made migraines worse. After several trips to the ER, a long awaited appointment with a neurologist and three other drugs, she tried Nurtec. I have taken it on 2 occasions and both times it completely resolved the migraines. I take Zolfran before taking the Nurtec as a preventative for the nausea and vomiting and have not had any. I was nervous and anxious because of previous experiences with other drugs, but so far so good. I am very happy to be migraine free. It is wonderful to not have migraines for several months now. Tried this after some research. 45-year migraine sufferer. I have tried every prescription, dietary restrictions for triggers... done it all. Tried this thinking it probably would not help and it helped. I would like to take it for preventative since I have daily headaches, but insurance will only pay for 8 tablets per month and cost out of pocket is over $1000... Hoping by contacting Nurtec, I can get them filled for preventative use!

I have suffered really bad menstrual migraines for over 30 years. Nurtec works really well for me. I have taken them right when I feel i may start to get one and the migraine doesn't develop. I feel fresh and energetic throughout the day. No sleepy feelings like I did with triptans. I did have some nausea the first time I took Nurtec but the second one resolved the nausea. Its working really well for me. I downloaded the savings card from the Website and its was a Zero copay. Give it to your pharmacist and they will know what to do. This is a good product to try especially for menstrual migraines. Read More Read Less

YES. Success. Resolves in a hour. Fully-functional days. Clear thinking. Active life. After 24 hours - a little rebound headache as the med wears off. My approach is do all the healthy prevention there is (magnesium, riboflavin, sleep, hydration, etc.). Many months this approach avoids a migraine. Nurtec is my security. Nolonger living in fear of being down and in tortured pain for 3 days. No side effects. And the melt-in-mouth is key if you can barely open eyes or move due to migraine. The sooner I take it, the faster it works and the better it returns me to life. So grateful. Past: All the "iptans"... (imi, ele, frovo, etc) just put me in a coma for 3 days. Not really a solution. And took longer to work. Read More Read Less

Received 4 samples of Nurtec ODT given to me by my neurologist. One of the least affective I've used, although I've had no adverse affects either. Just nothing all together. Overall I've tried MANY, Relpax never seems to fail. Everyone is different, so I hope this works for you better than it did me.

Now on 3rd month of Nurtec. First few times taking it no noticeable side effects, but now I am starting to experience some nasty ones. After taking it, it usually does make me somewhat lethargic and sometimes it makes me so weak and tired I literally can't keep my eyes open. Also get terrible heartburn and sharp pains in my stomach and gut. It does affect my mood somewhat with depressive and anxious periods that come and go. I also have periods of feeling very restless. Another side effect I'm starting to notice is some joint pain and stiffness. Nurtec does work for me and effectively ends my migraines but I'm really starting to wonder how safe it is. Oh and I also only take 1/2 of a tablet. Works just as well as the full tablet but still gives me these side effects so I don't think I'm going to continue taking it. Zolmitriptan 2.5mg works better for me and has fewer, shorter lasting side effects. Read More Read Less

Since Botox stopped working for me, I have tried many, many preventatives and rescue meds. Luckily, Sumatriptan oral has always work for me when I need one. Preventatives, another story. I have tried Ajovy and Aimovig. Neither one works enough to stay with it. My Neuro gave me a sample of Nurtec today. As I woke up "headachy" but not with a full migraine, I took the Zurtec after the appointment. My headache just got worse as the day went on. I would take a Sumatriptan now, but I don't think I should. I'll wait it out until morning. And so - the search goes on.Read More Read Less

It did nothing as an abortive and nothing as a preventative. While there is a sub-population of migraineurs who get good results with the new CGRP meds, it must be noted that all of them perform very poorly in clinical trials -- barely beating placebo.

This drug has been a miracle for me. I have been getting migraines with aura and nausea for 15+ years. They are genetic and run in my family. With nurtec I am able to return to my daily functioning self with no pain in as little as 30 minutes. THANK YOU! I have experienced 0 side effects. I do not get a rush of needles sensation like I typically would from an Imitrex (Sumatriptan) injection. Also imitrex is not always able to stop the pain. Nurtec has a very clean profile (no noticeable sensations or side effects) and can quickly stop the pain and lift the brain fog! I have been using it steadily for the past 8 months and it still continues to work. Read More Read Less
