I started using Yazmin about 3 mos ago..I have since stopped. As soon as I started taking it I would have severe cramping with my cycles. I only gained two pounds, but that was good because I am underweight..also my breasts were sore everyday..I stopped using it a few weeks ago and immediately suffered fever and headaches for a WHOLE week!

I've had good results with Yasmin, has anyone tried the generic yet? Any unanticipated side effects?

I had to stop taking this medication for a couple reasons. I had really bad nausea, almost a complete lack of appetite (I had NO desire to eat for 2-2.5 weeks), I lost 10 lbs on it (may be great for some, but I would have weighed below a normal wt), and the depression it caused me was pretty bad. I'm sure if I continued to finish the pack or try the full 3 weeks I would have been pretty malnourished. As soon as I stopped taking it I regained an appeitite and I was no longer depressed.

I'm 22 and I used to have severe acne, I started using Yasmin when I was about 19 and within a short period of time it all went away! My periods are also shorter, no cramps, and is probably the best birth control I have ever used! The first month is tough, nauseau is horrible. I usually have to eat something before I take it at night otherwise I feel really sick in the morning, thats the only downfall.

I have been on Yasmin for about 5 years now. It has been wonderful. Never have I had to worry about getting pregnant while on this drug. Did take a while for my body to adjust. Was nauseous the first 3 months and I have to be sure to take after I've eaten or I will get sick. Has significantly reduced my periods and cramping. Cleared up my skin and did not gain any extra weight. Very excited that it is finally available as a generic.

LADIES! I have been on Yasmin for 3 years now, and I love it. I have no complaints. I always paid 20-25 dollars a month for it( insurance change). I use Target as my pharmacy and I went in today and there is now a GENERIC! It is called Ocella. It is not on webMD yet, i just checked, but I paid 10 dollars for it! AMAZING!

I have gained so much weight. My sex drive is almost gone and I have been taking it for almost 2 years.

As with many other reviewers I noticed.. Yasmin 28 killed my sex drive too. I used to be a 6x a week girl, and now I'm lucky if I have desire for once or twice. This side effect was almost immediate, as I have only been on yasmin 28 for 2 weeks. A little dissappointed. :(

I've been on Yasmin for 7 months now and realy like it. POSITIVE: cramps are nowhere as horrible as they used to be, period is light and short, not pregnant yet :-), I've lost 20 lbs, acne is gone, periods are regulated, moods during cycle are tamed down NEGATIVE: feel more tired, back aches, high price, 1st month was a nightmare- I was a crazy woman, decreased sex drive With all this said, every med has side efects, but I feel the positive out weighs the negative. Yasmin has done wonders for me. I have used other birth control pills and my periods were about the same as whenI am not taking the pill and on Yasmin they have let up some and are shorter.

I LOVE IT!!! I have been on this drug for 6 years and have not had any issues with it. This was the first birth control that I tried and I guess I got lucky with it. I stopped taking it for a little while and had HORRIBLE acne after the extra hormones left my system. And I hate that I have to pay $58 a month for it with out insurance. No issues with weight gain, hair loss, sex drive, etc. I have also grown to hate the alarm I have set on my phone to remind me to take my pill everyday. I was really satisfied with Yasmin and thought I had finally found the perfect birth control. I never had any side effects until after taking it for about 5 years. I noticed a drastic decrease in sex drive and after thinking that there was something wrong with me for months I started reading online about side effects of Yasmin. I am calling my doctor to discuss other options.

I started taking this drug to help with my irregularity. Made me regular. No more agonizing cramps. Light bleeding. Shorter period. Then I developed a blood clot. Dr said it was very rare and probably not a blood clot. ER confirmed it was..... Would not recommend this to anyone unless they were fully aware of ALL the side effects and knew what to look for. Listen to your body and get a second opinion if you need to. There's always an alternative.

Positive: regular, lighter periods, reduced cramping, prevents pregnancy, no pms, clear skin, no weight gain Negative: dry eyes, consistent headaches, decreased sex drive, darkened upper lip, frequent yeast infections. Everything seemingly has some kind of side effects, and it seems to differ from person to person.

I believe I am having some leg and foot muscle (spasum afterwards the pain lasts for days )pain due to this med. i am going to call my MD today. Otherwise I love it.

I used to have very heavy painful and long periods. When I went to the doctor for birth control she prescribed yasmin to help with my menstrual cycles. My pain was reduced to nothing and the severity of my periods were reduced to half of what they were. I have not experienced any negative side effects with this drug. The hardest thing about it was to remember to take it on a daily bases, but once I did I would never take anything else.

After a decade of failed treatments for acne - including Accutane - Yasmin is the only thing that has worked. I also have very short, light periods and no cramps (I used to curl up on the bathroom floor because of cramps previously.) My boobs grew two cup sizes! I gained a significant amount of weight, but also changed my eating habits for the worse, so I can't attribute it to the pill. I haven't had any negative side effects. It's VERY expensive unless insurance covers most of it.

This medication completely killed my sex drive!!! Also, I got very very frequent yeast infections from this medication so I have since switched to something else! Although it was gentle on my stomach and made my craps better ... I would not still recommend this product.
