I am 26 year old woman living in California. I have been on medication for Hypothyroidism for 2 years. For the first year my doctor, as most of the doctors, put me on Synthroid. I did not like this medicine for nothing, because it's three times more expensive than Armour, I was constantly loosing hair (I was lietrally getting bold) and I was very miserable and depressed, and my face was puffy and...

I've been taking Armour for over a year, and at first it worked great. But the past 4 months all of my original symptoms have returned (constipation, stubborn weight loss, weight gain, fogginess, fatigue, dry skin) I researched and found that the pharmaceutical company that makes armour has changed and apparently so has their formula. I am going to see my doctor at the end of this month for a bloodwork and a medication change. I will ask for NP Thyroid or Naturethroid. I have heard bad side effects when taking synthroid and so I am fearful of taking it. Good Luck everyone. Read More Read Less

For those not happy with Armour, one mistake doctors make is not raising the dose fast enough to optimal levels. I am on 90mg. and feeling like my life is coming back again. My hair has been restored, and my heart palpitations are gone. I also found that my ferritin and estrogen were low, and am supplementing those.

Been on 60 mg for almost 10 years. Couldn't be happier. Insurance won't cover it. Don't know why. Price has been rising and I think I'm getting "screwed".

I have been on this medication for over a year since I quitted levothyroxine medication for two years because it almost killed me. I will never go back to chemical medication as they called Label medication which I am not supporting that idea to feed on people who are naive about this levothyroxine medication. I strongly encouraged people to be on natural medication or find a cure for our thyroid problem. This armour medication is champ but.... it did not help to solve the hair loss or skin, nails. Weight is sticky situation because nowadays people eat overdo with their food portion. That is where I am not too sure about weight gain. I have been working out and be able to lose some weight. Like I said it is hard to know. Other than that, this medication is wonderful. My headache went gone. My concentration is back normal than ever. No more foggy or foggy in my eyes. No more depressed medication which I knew it. No more special headache medication. Why? They are chemical medication and they are the most dangerous thing on the planet. Why the chemical medication industry thinks it is okay to feed us like that? I think it is not right! I am here to shout my voice and spread the words to people to be on natural medication and deal with it and find a solution to improve our hair loss, etc and eat right foods like natural foods, no junks, no chemical foods. It would help you guys. I am trying my best to keep this constantly as possible as i can. It is not easy but it works for me! Read More Read Less

Have had Hypothyroidism for decades, treated with Synthroid but never felt truly well. My Chiropractor suggested a Dr. who specialized in natural hormones, he put me on Armour medication, bad mistake. I felt terrible, when I called him, he told me to treble the dose! My hands swelled up like baseball mitts. Most probably a really lousy Dr. I followed this with a visit to a Endrochronologist at Emory University hoping for a resolution. She put me right back on Synthrouid. So here I am 35 with years of Hypothyroidism, regular tests, yet chronic fatigue, foggy thinking etc. Suppose I'm stuck with life this way, unless anyone has any helpful suggestions.Read More Read Less

I have been on this medication since 4/30. My doctor only prescribed 15mg once a day. I still feel tired in the afternoon. The joints in my feet don't hurt nearly as bad. I've lowered my calorie intake, but still can't lose the weight. I feel extremely hot in my feet, hands, and trunk right before I go to bed. I was having some of those symptoms before and they're not going away. Was wondering if I need to talk to my doctor about increasing my dose. Any insight would be appreciated.

I have been suffering an unusual side effect of this drug, a stiff neck with pain to the neck and head at the base of my skull. This pain starts within six to eight hours after taking it. I think the dose is too high, have to wait for another blood test for any adjustment to the drug or dosage. Hit and miss for these Docs!! Very frustrating...

I was on this medication for 15yrs until they had trouble w/sick pigs. My then Dr. Tried me on others & I only got worse...colder, hair loss etc. I had been on 135 and was really doing well. I was dropped down by another Dr. to 90, then another took me back up to the 120 and I was doing pretty good with that after signing wavers that she wasn't responsible for my hear, bones etc. Well, she decided to drop me down even further to 105, and I began having the very same problems that put me on the meds int eh first place, major weight gain, hair loss, always freezing. Then she wanted me to go from 105 to 90 on alternate days. I had no success with her so after getting yelled at for second options Some genius took me off totally to see if it was the parathyroid causing the trouble. Ruined my entire summer and now my life will never be the same. I am rapidly gaining more weight. I finally found another doctor who is trying me on Tyrosint but after almost 1mo. on 50mcg, I am still gaining weight, freezing intolerable, have high blood pressure etc. swollen hands and feet. I should also say that I have Secondary Hypothermia which is why I was on a higher dose of the Armour and that actually worked for me but now nobody wants to help me get back to that place my Dr. now after hearing my problems tells me I'll never be the same again. THANKS!! Now I don't want to be on anything and I just fillled the prescription after the first sample box and am all swollen. I give up.Nobody cares, nobody wants to help. They don't want to go back to Armour as they feel it isn't stable with the T3& T4 but I believe the Tyrosint is mainly T4. I wish someone gave a damn to help. I can't get out of my own way. Barely get out of house by 1 in afternoon.Read More Read Less

I have hypothyroidism and was prescribed Armour Thyroid 120mg on Jan 16, 2015, 10 weeks now since starting it. I've had positive results and no side effects at all. I feel less tired in the daytime where I used to nearly fall asleep and could barely keep my eyes opened. In the last month I've lost a pound a week with no dieting, just eating what I normally do. This must be an indication that my metabolism is working correctly again. In the last 4 years, after dieting to lose and I did lose 40lbs w/ diet and exercise, only to regain it dramatically, such as 7 lbs in one day and then another 7 lbs, on and on, for no reason, and when still dieting and exercising. In 1987 I was originally diagnosed with hypothyroidism and took Synthroid, levothroid, levothyroxid, 250mg until late 2011 and adjusting the dosage myself, up and down for several weeks since I had no Dr. to where I moved. Because I was regaining all that weight mentioned above and stopped taking it altogether until I was re-diagnosed in Dec 2014 and still had hypothyroidism, and 1/1/2015 and at my request prescribed Armour Thyroid 120mg which I had never tried before and instead of the Synthroid.Read More Read Less

I've been on Armour 60 mg. for 8 months and I really feel as tired as when I was on Synthroid and Levothyroxin although my recent labs indicate the Armour is working. I have to agree with the one reader who's appetite increased. I am always hungry and have gained about 8 lbs within the last 6 months. I'm going to have to try and skip a dose and see if that helps with the weight gain. And I will as my doctor if increasing the dosage may help with the fatigue but am afraid if I do I may eat everything in sight!Read More Read Less

Had tt 6/13 and was put on synthroid. Did OK altho still had side effects of hair loss, weight gain, gas, bloating and but doc wanted to raise me from 112 to 125mcg. Said no and wanted to switch to Armour. Almost 3 months on it, tiltrated up to 60 and 1 week later, have had horrible gas pains, bloating, toe and foot cramps, irregular/high heart rate (70s to 90s), unsteadiness, moody, depressed, sweating yet cold extremities, diarrhea and/or multiple bowel movements, muscle pain in upper arms (since disappeared). End of2nd week on 60 and blood work showed low normal on Ft4 (1.2)and high normal on FT3 at 4.0 when high is 4.4. He says I am hypo bec TSH is too high and that's why I feel lousy. Sending me to endo. Good lord. Was better on 45mg dose. Why can't they listen to treat clinically & not by the labs. Not all people react the same to drugs and thyroid replacement should be clinical not lab oriented. Can't function or run a business the way I have felt the past two weeks ever since going on the higher dose. Don't know if this endo will prescribe armour but synthroid is out entirely. Could not handle side effects of that (hair loss, weight gain, bloating, gas and foggy brain). So much for having the thyroid removed thanks to Graves. Should have kept in and kept on the methimazole. Handled that better that this. Miserable for almost a year now. Word of advise to all...you know your body better than the doc and better than pharma. Follow your gut instinct. Read More Read Less

Was allergic to Synthroid rash and itchy went on Armour felt good right away. Ask Pharmacist to recommend Doctors who will prescribe. Just discovered that Vit D3 taken 2 hours after taking helps with clearing head and absorption. Take vitamins C E B Complex time release Chewable Calcium with zinc magnesium Drink EmergenC Vitamin Drink Tropical flavor. Split dose of Armour take 60 mg in am then 30 mg in afternoon to dinnertime. Original formula worked the best for me. Tried other NDT's and they would make me weak after 1-2 weeks. Armour worked the best. If get foggy take Selenium,Adrenal Complex or DHEA. Don't take late in day. Getting older affects absorptionRead More Read Less

After a solid year of extreme fatigue I am finally feeling like my old self again. I was diagnosed with Hashimotos disease earlier in the year and was put on Synthroid and did not receive any benefits from the drug. I was also diagnosed with leaky gut, and my thyroid antibody counts were through the roof. Since taking Amour Thyroid, within a couple of weeks, I had noticed an significant difference in my energy level and sense of well being. I started feeling like the old me. I am extremely active and work out 5 days a week and eat extremely healthy. Low carb, high (healthy) fats and moderate protein, no grains whatsoever and very low sugar if any at all. I would recommend this product to anyone who is struggling to get the help they need or if you find that the medication your currently on isn't helping. I got my quality of life back. I feel normal for the first time in a long time and my hair is not falling out anymore. Because I have a friend that is a naturopath, she has been able to muscle test me for the correct dose, so I have not had the difficult time some have had at finding the right level. I went to a clinic that practices alternative medicine along with western medicine because the average doctor doesn't seem to be very aware of Armour thyroid, even the pharmacist gave me a hard time, saying that "do you know this stuff is from pigs?" Of course I know, and if she knew anything, she would know that pig glands are the most like human glands and therefore is more easily assimilated in our bodies unlike the synthetic stuff that is foreign to our bodies. So thankful for Armour!Read More Read Less

I started taking Armour Thyroid 30 mg in August, I am now on 120 mg. I didn't see much difference in the way of improved energy until I got up to 90 mg. And then it was like magic! Like others I felt like I got my life back! I struggled with my doctor for 3 months before he finally decided to give Armour Thyroid a try for me. My tests showed "normal" like so many others. It has made a HUGE difference in my life

I have been on Armour Thyroid for 6+ years. It has literally given me my life back. It does take some time (can be up to a year) to get leveled out on the correct dose, but once you are on the right one you'll feel so... normal. I used to feel so incredibly tired during/after work. I could make it through maybe 5 hours of a work day, but after that I could barely manage to keep myself in tact for the remainder of the day. I lived less than a mile from my job and I could barely feel alive enough to make it across town to get home. I often considered pulling over and taking a nap just blocks from my house. I had absolutely no energy at all! I always thought I was just lazy. Since I have been leveled out on Armour, I no longer feel so exhausted. If you decide to switch from your Synthroid to Armour, give it some time to level out. It will work wondersRead More Read Less
