I have been taking 2mg of doxazosin for the past 2 years. My urgency to urinate has decreased drastically and getting up in the middle of the night happens occasionally. For me, when I sit for a long period of time, I have to go to the bathroom more often. Overall, I am pretty satisfied with this treatment with no side effects.

It doesn't seem to be working and I'm not sure how much damage it may be causing my internal organs. I really think most prescriptions are written so the doctor can get their 'kick backs', i.e., money from the drug companies...if it actually works for the patient...great!

Medication decreased my urges and my frequency of urination at night. I am able to control my urges and have not had a lot of pressure to urinate, but can comfortably go.

Been using this for three weeks,2 mg. Havent seen a lot of change. still wake to urinate 3/4 times a night.Doctor hasn't said but i am thinking the prostate cancer may be negating the effect.

I am taking this with Avodart for urgency/frequency issues. DOXAZOSIN (4mg)seems to work as I only get up once during the night and about 530-600am which would be okay if I was working; but having recently retired it is like getting up again. I do have low energy issues and some issues getting to sleep. I am better off taking it than not.

I have taken 4mg of Doxazosin for more than 10 years primarily for bladder control and blood pressure. My BP is lower but I think that it may be due to Lippitor and Mega fish oil. I'm going to see if my doctor will take me off completely.

I initially had heart palpitations, so took a half pill for 6 days and whole pill for remainder of one month. Saw some improvement(minimal) in strength of stream, but not enough to continue use. Still went frequently at night.

After reading all of your comments, I notice that I am the only woman listed. I cannot tell whether this med has helped my blood pressure or not but, as I tell the pharmacist, my prostate has never felt better. I wonder why a FEMALE doctor would put another female on an obviously MALE-intended drug???

I was getting up 4-5 times a night, and after a week it's once. Getting up so many times was a living hell and never felt rested.

I only took one tab (4 mg) once before bed and had to get up to the bathroom early a.m. Almost fainted while urinating - ended up on floor. Called doc. - he agreed to discontinue use.

I've been on 1mg Doxazosin for about 6 months. I found that it has made a difference in my BPH condition. Don't expect an overnight miracle nor a total change. Your body is always changing, keeping in touch with your body and your doctor should be your goal.
