I have been taking 2mg of doxazosin for the past 2 years. My urgency to urinate has decreased drastically and getting up in the middle of the night happens occasionally. For me, when I sit for a long period of time, I have to go to the bathroom more often. Overall, I am pretty satisfied with this treatment with no side effects.

It doesn't seem to be working and I'm not sure how much damage it may be causing my internal organs. I really think most prescriptions are written so the doctor can get their 'kick backs', i.e., money from the drug companies...if it actually works for the patient...great!

I've been taking 4mg a night with 50mg of Atenolol for my high blood pressure and it hasn't done a thing for me. I am also on Effexor for depression and my psychiatrist pointed out to me that for every 100mgs of Effexor you take that will also raise your blood pressure. I am also urinating all the time day and night. Thank god I go in for my yearly physical in two weeks. I also have not had any other side effects.

i ask my doctor to switch me from flomax to another drug..he came up with doxazosin generic for cardura..i'm so happy i could shout..flomax caused my ejackulations to back up to my kidneys..with this cardura i get erection and am able to ejackulate normally...going to bathroom is easier using this drug..frankly, on flomax i was going to bathroom 2/3 times on cardura once and only occassionally twice... nightly..absolutely no side effects for me!!!i believe that doctors write flomas scriptions for some obvious reasons..gentlemen do your homework and tell your doctor you want to try this drug..for me it was a winner and at walmart i pay 10.00 dollars for 90 day supply..sometime doctors will say there is nothing else on market, just tell him your insurance is running out on this drug and watch how quickly he changes you to doxazosin.... difficulty going to urinate..starting..i am diabetic and was on flomax but flomax interferred with my sex...flomax caused my ejection to back up rather than come out..it took less than thirty days for me to see improvement in going to urinate with ease, and sex improved...

I started taking 4mg of flow max nightly. I was changed to doxazosin 8 mg nightly for the last 2 yr. For the most part I think it works ok but I still have days that are uncomfortable. When I forget to take pill it's all most unbearable. Bloods pressure good 132-72. One of the side effects was lack of ejectulation fluids which left sexual experance less than fullfilling. After talking with the dr. and he explained it is a natural thing you just learn to live with it.

I was using the bathroom on a frequent basis and by taking this medication it has reduced the activity by 75%. This was a perfect match for me.

I started taking 2mg a day about a year ago. It started out ok, but then it's effectivness seemed to wane. Dosage was increased to 4mg at my one year checkup and results were much improved. No more urgency, weak stream, etc. BUT, and here's my problem, after about 3 months, sympthoms are all back. It seems like I build up an immunity to it. No side effects at all.

2mg at bedtime since July 2007. It has pretty much eliminated the night-time urge to urinate anda the stream is usually pretty steady sometimes a bit weak. I've seen no real improvement in BP which has stayed around 140/85. Sometimes I wake up in the middle of the night feeling as if blood is pounding through my body. Anyone else experiencing this? It's a little scary but with a few deep breaths the pounding subsides. Is this a sign of another issue?

Wondering if anyone else may have these symptoms. Have been taking this med for around 3 years or so, any feedback from others out there?

Dosage: Started with 2 mg (numbers slightly lowered) and now at 4 mg. Also, taking drug for Enlarged Prostate. After 3 weeks: SYS Blood pressure is lower (140-155), and DIA is near 80. Prostate problem -- nightly need to urinate seems to be lessened.
