It's taken about 6 months to get my dosage right. I now take 80mg. 3 times a day and the swelling in my ankles and legs is gone. I lost a total of 50 pounds. My B.P. is down to 170/95 from 200/105 and now the doc is starting me on other BP meds for that.

I am not sure if I am taking enough "mg". It is hard forms to loose the water gain. Because I am taking testosterone, I have edema in my legs.

I have taken Lasix for 6 mths. It seems the longer I take it the more side effects I get. To date there are 7. Shortness of breath, Tiredness, Weakness, No energy, Tingling in hands/feet, Soles of feet very sore to walk on, Rash/itching, Sometimes, Pressure in chest/bloating in stomach. Did lose the swelling in my feet/ankles, but no wieght loss. Will see my DR. in a few days, hope she has some answers for me.

Cronic pain from spine-disc degeneration for 30+ years. Taking 260mg of MS Contin/day with 4 ES/7.5 Vicodin/day which caused serious water retention, mostly in the legs, feet, torso. Also taking Aldactone. After 1-year water retention was under control. However, one, or both water pills created a condition that prevented the discarge of enough urine. Finally, it resulted in urinary tract infections. Extenisve blood and urine tests indicated zero irregularities, including tests for STD's. I stopped the daily use of both medications, and started using Organic cranberry extract/juice mix. Occasionally 1-Lasix is needed when the bladder does not empty and swelling starts again. At best, a few days a week is all the relief gained before a Lasix 40mg is needed. Read More Read Less
