I was on Premarin for several years and my doctor switched me to Estradiol (generic for Estrace) 1.5 mg and I have never felt this good. No more hot flashes, sad moods, headaches, etc. This switch was the best thing that ever happened for me! I know that everyone reacts differently to medication but I would highly recommend Estradiol if you are experiencing issues with your current medication!

I took Estradiol 1 mg. every 3 days. Kept away the hot flashes. I recently stopped cuz my insurance company would not pay for. Is Estradiol in this dosage really that dangerous? Now I am having horrible hot flashes sometimes 3 in one hour. I went on OTC Estroven or something like that, but it is worthless. What can I do? Oh, I am 72 yrs. of age - WHY AM I STILL GETTING HOT FLASHES!

I am 51 and had a partial hysterectomy in 2010. I just started taking this Rx 3 months ago because my ovaries have stopped working as effectively following my hysterectomy. This Rx has been working well for me so far. Hot flashes, night sweats and sleep has improved. I have noticed a slight change in pain in my calves and vaginal discharge. I have not gained weight on it at all in fact my weight improved once I got on it because following my surgery I had gained 30 lbs and i have now lost 25 with diet and exercise and I wasn't able to see any weight changes til I started this Rx. I feel my hormone imbalance was prohibiting any weight loss. I am taking 1mg daily. It does concern me reading the side effects others on this site have experienced but I am noticing it is the individuals that have been on it over 10 years. So only time will tell in the future how it pans out for me. I do not like the fact that some many are taking over 1mg. I asked my dr to put me on the lowest dose in fact i asked for .5 mg but she said that is only utilized when they are ready to ween me of the Rx. I am prayerful that I can always remain on 1mg and not have to increase the dosage in the future. I am going to continue to research for other alternatives since many of my friends feel it is not safe for me to be on this Rx. Read More Read Less

I started taking after a complete hysterectomy. 1mg a day for a year with the only side effect was a little enlargement of breasts. Then I reduced to 1/2 mg a day for a year. With no issues. But when trying to stopcompletely I experience mood swings and mild hot flashes. I consulted my doctor and I reduced to taking only 1/2 every other day to see how it worked and I have been doing great for me this past several months.

I'm amazed at the positive comments on this product. Twice now I have been forced by my insurance co. to use it. The first time I had spotting and cramps. This time I either get night sweats with .5 mgs, or sore breasts with 1 mg. I've got to get something else. I absolutly hate it!

I had a hysterectomy at the age of 45, I am 52 was placed on estrodoil hormonal replacement. It does take away the hot flashes. The downside-it also making me loose hair, thinning, brittle and breaks off. I have gained 40 lbs. and struggling to take it off. I am taking myself off. I will deal with the hot flashes. I want my long hair and my waistline back.

I have had terrible hot flashes and night sweats for years and have been taking estradiol for 15 years and it has helped tremendously. I can sleep at night and can function well during the day. The flashes were very draining. I have had no side effects at all. Discussions with my ob/gyn have made me comfortable taking it for this long. I have constant exams, mammograms, bone density tests, etc. and have had no side effects at all. This has helped me feel better and able to cope with everyday problems.Read More Read Less

I had a partial hysterectomy in 1993. I still have my ovaries and 3 years ago began going through the change of life. My hot flashes and night sweats were out of control!!!! After about a week of being on this all symptoms stopped. I have an occasional hot flash (like maybe once a month) but overall this drug is a LIFE SAVER!!!!! Love it!!!! I have experienced NO weight gain, NO mood swings....nothing changed except I no longer have hot flashes and can sleep without drowning in a pool of sweat. Read More Read Less
