I was on Premarin for several years and my doctor switched me to Estradiol (generic for Estrace) 1.5 mg and I have never felt this good. No more hot flashes, sad moods, headaches, etc. This switch was the best thing that ever happened for me! I know that everyone reacts differently to medication but I would highly recommend Estradiol if you are experiencing issues with your current medication!

Had a partial hysterectomy and kept one ovary in 2007. I am 48 and recently have gotten slammed with hot flashes and no sleep. Went to my Dr. and she put me on 1mg Estradiol. At first I noticed it was giving me headaches, but I soon realized I MUST EAT BEFORE taking this med. Once I made sure I had food first, I have not had anymore headaches. All the other symptoms have gotten must better. No more hot flashes or vaginal dryness. I have noticed an increase in appetite...so I am now trying to focus on portion control and eating HEALTHY! I have read a lot of reviews that mention the headache...so I recommend eating first. I am going to ask my doctor if we change the dose to .5 if I still will feel the same relief. Good luck Ladies!Read More Read Less

Took it for 10 years after a complete hysterectomy at 50. No problems other than no recovery of my ability to focus and calculate mathematically, ( I lost that in the operation). Estradiol helped me feel better than I had ever felt in my whole life! Doctor took me off of it 7 years ago I'm now crying and having hot flashes as well as fuzzy thinking. So I'm going Doctor shopping for help to get back on it! :)) Im done with the politics and opinions. I know my body and a anti-depressant isn't the answer! :))Read More Read Less

My insurance made me switch because of cost of Premarin, and I have been happy with this drug. I should be past menopause so I think I will try doing without for awhile because I had a knee injury and got bilateral pulmonary emboli. I hat having to take warfarin and am going in for a total knee replacement next month. I think a few hot flashes would be more bearable than the body aches with warfarin. I will follow up later to let you know how it goes.

I have been taking this for just a year now and it's completely relieved all of my symptoms. I have found that I have an allergy to the dye used in the 2mg tabs FD&C Blue #1 I have been told by my GYN this is very safe but you should not remain on it for more than a few years, until those symptoms would normally pass. Glad to have my sleep, wits about me, no hot flashes, and feel good. a little weight gain is a downfall however but that also goes along with the diagnosis so have to work a bit harder to keep it off.Read More Read Less

I did very well on estradiol oral, in fact it was great. Then I had a stroke. Doctors took me off estradiol and indicated it was the cause of the stroke. I lost all of my right side. I was very luck to get 99% back within a few hours. I life a healthy life style and always have. I have never smoked, no extra weight and a full time competitive athlete. Now I am on a estradiol cream. It is ok.

Started taking this 6 months after full hysterectomy to help with mood swings. Gained 10 pounds after only 1 month of use. Initially asked my dr if this was a side-effect and he said it should not affect my weight. Stopping med immediately. Not worth the benefit of helping with sleep and hot flashes.

For low libido reasons, i started taking Estradial 6 months ago. Headaches all the time, moodiness, emotional, anxiety, weight gain, shortness of breath. Quit 2 days ago and my breathing is getting better. I do not like this medication at all.

I don't know what I would have done without this hormone treatment. It has literally saved my sanity! I feel great at age 64 and have used hormone therapy since 1999. I would never want to go back to the horrible symptoms that I was experiencing before taking Estradiol treatment. My menopausal symptoms were off the hook! I couldn't do anything comfortably and was miserable all the time.

It took care of the hot flashes, but the bloating and weight gain were too much. I stopped taking the pills 3 weeks ago; still no hot flashes, but stuggling to lose the 15 lbs I put on. I think I will stick with Black Cohosh.

Im a healthy 53 yr old. Complete hysterectomy in 2011. I have been taking 1mg daily for 2 years. My experience is dissatisfaction due to hairloss, nail breakage, weight gain, moodiness, lack of interest in about everything, bloating, breast tenderness,insomnia...doctor says to continue them. Life has to be better at 53! I quit taking 3 weeks ago and immediately lost 14 lbs & sleeping much better! No hot flashes as of yet, but I can deal with them no prob!!

I have been using 1 mg since my complete hysterectomy 12 years ago Yes of course you get hot flashes once in a while. But over all, it is great! I was off one month - night sweats, hot flashes, and a yeast infection Ran to my dr get me back on.
