As a RA patient, my doctor and I looked at many scrips for this disease, didn't like the chance of all the side effects of some, this seemed easy to use with the least amount of side effects. After taking the meds for 3 years, my doctor pronounced me : In Remission : and told me to come back in 6 months. All I heard was the words, In Remission, and then quit taking the meds that day. I went alo...

I'm being treated for sjogrens. I have been on the drug for over 2 years and have not had a paratoid flare up in those 2 years. I was prescribed this drug to keep the sjogrens in check and believe it is working. I have increased my activity level to 4 hours of running and have started to notice muscle and joint pain in the legs. I will continue my course of treatment because my fatigue is better and I can function at work. No side effects.

I've been on this medication for over 12 years and it has provided me much relief. For past year though, I've had to add additional meds to deal with pain

i have unspecified connective tissue disease, before taking this medication i could barely walk. i still have trouble sleeping, and do still have pain on occasion. the pain comes without warning so it is very hard to make plans. it has greatly reduced the pain overall, but not completely.

I have negative serum RA. It took 6 mos. to work completely. Pain level 0-.5, some thinning of hair, eyes seem to be ok at this point. I am finally back to the old me. Probably because I am sleeping again & most of the time pain free! The rest remains to be seen

When I first started on this med, it took several months to build up in my system. I was on it for a year and a half, and although I still had arthritis type symptoms, the severity greatly lessened once I started on this drug. Unfortunately, my last eye exam showed that my eyesight was being greatly effected and doctors discontinued the med immediately. In 3 more months, I will go back and have my eyes checked again to see if my eyesight has returned, but I can already tell a difference with the double vision and blury spots. Had it not been so severe, I would have stayed with this drug as it helped sx quite a bit. Now I get to experiment with the other drugs out there...please say a prayer new drugs are developed soon! I was diagnosed with Mixed Connective Tissue Disorder (MCTD), which includes, at any given time, Rheumatoid Arthritis, Lupus, and sjogrens disease. I have been on Plaquenal/Hydroxychloroquine for more than 7 years, and it has enabled me to live a very normal life. I wouldn't say I am 100% pain free, but certainly 80%. I have my eyes checked regularly, due to the side effects, and have not had any issues there. In order to get going on this medication, which takes up to 6 months to be effective, I started on Sulindac, which was fantastic.Read More Read Less

I have had Discoid Lupus Erythematosus and had this disease for about 10 years now. I started on plagenil for about a month and then Triamcinolone cream 0.1% for a bit then I had the lesions stuck with steriod shots, had a few lesions removed.since getting out of the navy, the Vetrans Affairs had me on Hydroxychloroquine (with no side effects) medication and these creams like Triamcinolone cream 0.1%. Ive used the Clobetasol Propionate 0.05% and now I'm on the Triamcinolone cream 0.025% for the most part they clear up but not a 100% I also use coppertone 70 spf when im at workRead More Read Less

I have been taking this medication for 2 months. Before I couldn't walk or move around too much without severe joint and muscle pain. I had severe fatigue but now I can work an 8 hour day and still cook dinner for my family without have to sit down or go to bed. I haven't experienced too many side effects. I do get the occasional upset stomache but nothing else. This medication is an extreme life safer for me.

I have been on Plaquenil since I turned 16 yrs old (now 28). I have had less flares with the drug but no real pain or joint relief for a few years now. It does, however, seem to keep me in remission. Developing night sweats in past few months.
