I experienced severe edema and fluid leakage from my lower legs. My skin was breaking down and my calves were covered in blisters and ulcers. At hospital I was given Lasix as an IV along with antibiotics. My script was for a 20mg dose of furosemide once daily. The results were unbelievable! Within 5 days my condition was in full blown reversal. Oh, I urinated a lot...every hour or so. The fluid st...

This is the first time using this brand. I have used a different brand before that just a half pill would work immediately. This has not done a thing.

I too have severe food allergies, hay fever. My doctor gave me furosemide to help with fluid retention. My eyes would swell and itch so I took this for swelling. My legs began to hurt and tingle to the point it would wake me up at nite. My blood work was okay, since I take alot of vit./minerals, I was fine. But the pain was so severe, I had to cut way back on it, I was only taking 20-30- mg 4 days a week. I am a long distance runner and heavy exerciser, so the pain in my legs was not good. I just live with the water retention bcause the medicine caused problems. Read More Read Less

I have severe allergies and my eyes would swell and headaches, despite the fact I looked awful with eye bags. I loved what it did for that area, but it makes my lower legs hurt and burn, almost like swelling, and I am a long dist, runner and cannot deal with the pain. It wakes me up at nite. It got that bad for me and I was only taking 20-30 mg. every OTHER day maybe. ihave to stop taking it as much, I cannot live with the pain, numbness, and tingling in my legs.

I take this medication for serious edema in both feet and lower legs. Lasik was not working. My legs swelled so badly, my right lower leg began weeping. My Dr. put me on the midication and I cannot believe the difference. The swelling has gone down a lot, but there is still some swelling and redness. Dr. says I have cellulitis.

Once they finally got the dosage correct it worked like a charm. No problems at all. I temporarily had to take 80mg in the morning and 40 in the afternoon but once it kick-started the system I was able to cut back to 40 and 40 and that is doing fine.

be very careful, this med made me pee like a racehorse and resulted in severe depleted sodium, requiring in-hosp. treatment and messed up my potassium levels... if you use it, make sure you monitor sodium, you may require salt tablets with, and of course, that raises your blood pressure...catch 22?

I started taking Furosemide after I had a TIA in 2001. Everything was fine for about 5 years other than the annoying having to work around my schedule to make sure I was close to a bathroom for a few hours. Then I started to have recurring urinary tract infections over and over for a year. Finally doc and I tried no Furosemide (cardiologist said no signs of CHF with other medications) and strangely enough the urinary infections stopped? Been 9 months and so far so good.
