So first let me say I’ve looked at many reviews and some say the cramping didn’t start for hours. I’ve saw a few that said the cramping started immediately or within 30 minutes, and they had horrible experiences. Maybe it’s related, maybe it’s not. I was about 10 weeks pregnant. Years ago I got the procedure abortion and it was so painful, I considered myself lucky to be able to get access to the medication in time so I wouldn’t have to go through that again. Last night when I took the medication, I wished I had the procedure. I took the first pill in office around 3:30 pm. The next day, yesterday, I took my ibuprofen and nausea medicine 30 min prior as my doctor recommended, then I put 4 pills in my cheeks to dissolve- around 5pm. Within 30 minutes, I started to feel light cramping. Feeling tired from the nausea medicine, I laid down and slept for about 2 hours, waiting. I woke up cramping, heating pads were doing little to nothing (I had one on my stomach and one on my back, I couldn’t tell where the pain was coming from at times). I ended up getting in the shower which gave me a little relief. I did vomit 3-4 times, but I’ve had terrible morning sickness and hadn’t eaten since 4pm. I laid back down and the cramping subsided, but then my 4 hour timer for my next dose of Misoprostol went off. I remembered what the nurse said to me when giving instructions the day before, “you’re not going to want to take the rest of the medicine, but you need to”. She was right. I didn’t, but I knew I had to. I actually dozed off while I was waiting for them to dissolve. I was in a very light sleep and kept checking the clock. After 30 minutes, I swallowed the rest of the medicine. Soon after I vomited again (probably because I took it on an empty stomach, was afraid to eat). Once again the cramping started soon after, and that, my friends, is when the real show began. It went from persistent cramping to what felt like contractions. Only a few seconds apart, they would build and then stop. I would scream out in pain each time, but I found that laying on a heating pad on my stomach and having my partner put pressure on my lower back helped some of the pain. It was excruciating and almost unbearable. Then again, I have a low pain tolerance. My partner wanted to take me to the hospital but I declined, knowing there was nothing they could do. I was offered pain medication at the doctor but cannot take it, so keep that in mind. So I started this process at 5pm yesterday, and I was finally able to fall into a deep, painless sleep around 4am and haven’t had terrible pain since, I did sleep off and on from 1-3am, but I still woke to some painful cramps here and there and kept going to the bathroom to push the blood out. Another review said they’d close their eyes when they flush, but I checked each and every time because blood clots seemed like a good sign. A lot of others said once they pushed out the clots they felt relief. So that’s something to keep in mind. I dozed off around 4 am, woke up at 7 when my partner went to work, and I felt fine. I went back to sleep soon after and slept until 12:30pm. I’m not bleeding right now, but I’m sure it will start back. I think the worst part is over though.
I didn’t write all of this to scare other women, just to remind that you will get through it. The pain is temporary. I kept telling myself it was temporary and necessary. It definitely helps to have someone with you. Be prepared, have all of your medicine within arms reach. Drink fluids and rest. You can do this. Just breathe. Read More Read Less
