DO NOT take this medicine!! I watched this medicine slowly take my mother away from me. She was on it for 7 months and only off of it for 2 weeks until she finally commited suicide. Yes, she killed herself from this medicine. This medication NEEDS TO BE TAKEN OFF OF THE MARKET!! She had anxiety, depression, confusion, muscle ticks, suicidal thoughts, no appetite, constant diarrhea and lost down to...

I was given this medicine after being taken to the ER for a migraine and nausea. I requested it to not be given to me but the nurse said that It would help my nausea & headache. I was given it through my IV with benadryl, as soon as it hit my system, which was probably 30 secs. later I begin to feel anxiety and was feeling like I was going crazy. The nurse laughed and said Oh yes it causes anxiety. After that one dose, I experienced depression & heavy anxiety AND it affected my ability to work and I had to take a leave of absence from work. The doctors didnt believe that it affected me that way by just that one dose, but it did. I was prescribed Xanax and Lexapro to help with anxiety & depression. I stopped taking it all. So now Im getting back to normal after 2 months of being given Reglan. Im still not 100% but with prayer Im headed that way. I would never suggest anyone to take this medicine it is awful and it can change your life. There are other alternatives to help. I filed a report with the FDA. Please stay away from it, its not worth its use and should be off the market. Read More Read Less

We just came home from the hospital after my 20 year old daughter was transported to for a distonic reaction to this drug. Let's start by saying this drug was very effective for severe nausea. She took it PRN. She would go weeks without needing it then she might need it for a day or two. That said...the ER doc had never seen this before. This was extremely frightening and this drug has been destroyed from our cabinet. Never again. To watch her body become contorted and her jaws lock up is something that I don't ever want to witness again. Read More Read Less

My mother who is 74 yrs old with dementia and Diabeties and in a nursing home for rehab. She was put on it to increase her appetite and it did that but has caused so many horrible side effects and they took her off of it abruptly and she is having bad withdrawals and having psychotic episodes and not her self at all. DO NOT take this drug and it should be taken off the market. I hope my mom goes back to her self but the Drs said she may never be the same again

I've been taking this for approx.3 years, with good results. I was vomiting all the time, due to gastroparesis. It has worked very well,at a low dose once per day. However I am disappointed because my physician will no longer prescribe it due to the potential serious side affect, although I show no symptoms. Now I am afraid of getting sick again!

Terrible medication; please read side effects, they are true. After 4 doses (1 day) I had such high anxiety; unable to sit, had to keep moving, was unable to sleep till the medication wore off. I would not advise anyone to take medication with such bad side effects.

While frightened by the side effects list I find it helps me a great deal with GERD which contributes to my un-controlled asthma.

I began to gain weight on this medication immediately, to such a degree, by the time I was told not to take Reglan anymore (6 months later), I went from 105 pounds to 190 lbs (first month) and continued to gain, until I finally stopped gaining weight at 253 lbs. At the same time, lactation started plus extremely high prolactin levels. The doctors suspected I may have a pituitary tumor. This led to X-rays, CT scan etc. I was sent to an Endocrinologist and Internists, who discovered it was the Reglan. I was always under weight, very athletic and prior to this drug had trouble gaining weight, even after having 3 babies. My rings went from size 4 to now size 9. This medication destroyed my career due to all the health issues. The physician who prescribed the drug was unaware of the side effects of this medication and was shocked to see what occurred. The lactation continued until I had a radical hysterectomy 10 years later. I now have gastroparesis and I am diabetic (still unable to control blood sugar) taking 3-4 needles a day while eating only 1 1/2 meals per day. I gained 13 lbs. on insulin when it was increased this month. Walking 5 miles a day, aerobics, swimming laps and doing weights & machines did nothing to change my weight and health issues today. Now I have developed a rare bone marrow disorder. When I am told to go on a diet to control my diabetes, I find I am always lumped into the category of "you must be eating too much and sedentary." There is still a lack of knowledge out there about this drug. This is why I am informing anyone considering taking this medication, ask and research all complications before taking any medication. Reglan such a cute nick name for such a dangerous drug. Metoclopromine isn't so cute. Read More Read Less

I was put on this med because I could no longer move food from my stomach. I took it for about 1 1/2 years. It was horrible I have lost of my memory and the 5 to 8 years I was taking it. Panic/anixity attacks often. only one hour of very disturbed sleep until I was put on 3 different anti-depressants. all I could think of every moment of the day was killing myself. The only thing that stopped me was knowing my wife would be in bad shape without my SS income. When I went to the Dr.'s office I had to wait in my car or a empty room. I couldn't stand to be in a room with more than one person talking. To make a long story short I was waiting to see a blood DR and had to wait in the lounge out front, he asked why and I told him. He suggested Erythromycin. It was real cheap at that time because there were many labs making it. Well now it seems only one lab makes it and it is sky high (almost 2K USD) for a month supply (one with meals and snacks. so I take 1/2 of the dose and eat once a day so that it lasts almost 6 months. It looks like I will have to pay the whole amount my self because it throws me into the "donut hole" what a crappy Medicare D policy. Read More Read Less

I only took this medicine three times over a two day period, but had an extreme reaction and ended up in the ER. I was at work and became very dizzy and had to lay down. It also hurt every time I took a breath. I thought I was having a heart attack. I was in the ER for over five hours and in the end had to be given morphine for the pain. It never occurred to me that I could have such an extreme reaction to a drug I had taken for such a short time. Today, when I started reading the reviews I was truly amazed that this drug is still on the market despite these terrifying side effects. Please stay away from this drug!!!!Read More Read Less

I was put on Reglan due to severe gastroparesis caused by long term use of oxycontin for chronic pain. I was dehydrated, down to 95 lbs, nauseated, severely bloated and constipated. Initially I took 1 5mg tab 3 times a day, but I was extremely drowsy, and producing too much serotonin due to my anti-depressants. I was VERY antsy, irritable, crabby, and hyper. I was able to eat more normal, but the side effects were greatly outweighing the benefits. My Dr. reduced my dose to 1/2 of a 5 mg. tablet a few hours after dinner, EVERY OTHER day. After about 1 week, the side effects disappeared, but my severe bloating, constipation,& nausea were MUCH improved,I felt human again for the first time in years! I am also taking Lactulose, as well as Amitiza for my narcotic induced constipation, but overall my quality of life has improved dramatically! I admit I remain extremely vigilant in watching for any side effects from the Reglan, but hopefully this extremely low dose will be enough to keep me comfortable for awhile. I hope others can find the same relief that I have.Read More Read Less

WORSE MEDICINE EVER!!!! Involuntary movements of the muscle, painful all over body craps, face disfigured, affected FOR LIFE after this medication. Back then since it was a new medication my symptoms were ruled as a "panic attack"; but it was NOT. In fact, I was one of the first cases to be reported to have the involuntary movements & all those negative reaction to the FDA, now there's tons of cases reported (way too many). It happened 4 times & it almost killed me; it also left permanent damages. AVOID THIS MEDICATION there's many others that doesn't have these horrible side effects...PERMANENT side effects! Like many have already posted, within a very short time this drug caused SEVERE psycho-emotional side effects. I had suicidal thoughts, homicidal thoughts, depression, hysteria - this drug should be BANNED. The possible good is almost certainly outweighed by the negative side effects. On a positive note, after taking it only a short time, when I stopped taking it I have NOT continued to have these problems, thankfully, but from the reports of many here that is not always the case.

I was on this med for 1 week. I noticed something right away, but did not associate it with this drug. No appetite, no sleep, restless, irritable. After a week I talked to my doctor about the symptoms, and he told me to stop taking it. I was not feeling like myself. I had no desire to do anything. I am a very outgoing person. I was taking Protonix along with this and it was doing the same thing. I stopped taking both. I looked at the reviews on here and I realized that my conditions were from these medications. I was having shortness of breath after I had surgery, and the doctors did not know why. One doctor subscribed this because he thought that the heaviness that I was feeling was from GERD. I told them that I never had that problem before. I wish that I had saw these reviews before, I never would have started taking these drugs. I have to go back to work soon, so i am fighting the withdrawal symptoms and going back on my iron, which I believe was the cause for the shortness of breath, because I was told to stop taking iron.Read More Read Less
