I've been using Nuvaring for 8 years now and have had no other side effects than going from a C cup to a D cup, but no weight gain anywhere else! It's very effective and no mood swings. And my sex drive is still very much in tact- never been affected. Much lighter periods are a plus (3 days or less), no more pain with periods at all and not having to worry whether I took the pill at the right time...

Well yes, nuvaring will keep your from getting pregnant. It will also make you an emotional basketcase to the point that a guy who claims he loves you "can't handle it" and runs off with an emotionally unavailable slut. Works wonders in preventing babies though.

Before I started the NuvaRing I was a happy and laid back girl. The NuvaRing completely changed me as a person and made me depressed and weepy every day. I would cry and fight with my boyfriend and I knew my behavior was hormonal and not like me. After I took it out, I gradually began to feel better. I know it works for some people, but I wanted to validate other girls this happened to.

Best birth control on the planet, not only does the Mrs have zero desire for me, I now avoid her like the plague... complete abstinence means no more kids.

I have only been on the NuvaRing for 2 weeks and I can safely say that I do not like it at all. I was instructed at my 6 week postpartum visit to insert the ring on the first day of my period as it would be effective immediately if inserted during that time. I have since then never stopped bleeding. Apparently this is normal and is called â??breakthroughâ? bleeding. I called my OB and was informed that it is normal and can possibly last for up to THREE MONTHS and to leave it in. I did as I was told, but have noticed that I am extremely moody and distant from my loved ones. Iâ??ve found myself sad for no reason at times and the only thing that is different is the birth control. So I am taking it out and will be following up with my OB soon for a different birth control option. Read More Read Less

Iâ??ve been extremely happy using the NuvaRing and would not want to use any other kind of contraception. I wanted a low-hormonal birth control and didnâ??t like the idea of an IUD because of the painful insertion. The only negative side affect I experienced was within the first three months, my vagina/labia became extremely itchy for a week or two. Cleared up and never happened again. My partner can feel it during sex, but itâ??s easy to take out and put back in. A few times I have forgotten to put it back in overnight, but itâ??s not a problem unless itâ??s out for more than 48 hours. Gives me the option to have a predictable period or no period at all. Know that the negative side affects are few and far between - itâ??s not for everyone, but overall, Iâ??ve only known other women who have had positive experiences with the ring. Read More Read Less

I began the Nuvaring about 6 months into my new relationship and I wish I never did. The Nuvaring gave me the most intense mood swings I have ever experienced in my adult life. Every month for a week I began to feel a lack of connection with the people around me as well as super depressed but couldn't put my finger on what I was sad about. I began starting huge fights with my boyfriend, my friends, my family. In addition to this, I have had close to zero sexual drive, about one week a month I feel like having sex and that's it and also extreme vaginal dryness. I haven't had any weight gain but every month my boobs grow a cup size the week before I take the ring out and then go back to normal after my period. The ring leaves me feeling extremely fatigued constantly, having to take naps close to everyday and not being able to wake up before noon anymore. It also began to give me pain in my arms and legs, that I can only describe as feeling like my blood was having a hard time getting through my veins like my veins were aching. Overall I would not recommend this birth control, it really messed me up and caused huge problems in my life. Read More Read Less

It was very easy for me to put in and once I put it in I never had to adjust it or anything, I couldn’t feel it either BUT I got not one but TWO UTIs in the 3 weeks I had it in. I never get UTIs so after getting two in such a short amount of time I decided to take the nuvaring out and not use it anymore.

I absolutely loved the nuvaring at first. The. One day I was getting really bad chest pain, I went into the hospital because I just knew something was wrong. They diagnosed me as having a pulmonary embolism. I was only 21 years old! I could’ve died. This happened 8 years ago. So no I do not recommend this birth control!

Iâ??ve, personally, had a great experience with Nuvaring. Iâ??ve been using it for 2 months and itâ??s the first form of hormonal birth control Iâ??ve tried. I couldnâ??t imagine relying on remembering a pill everyday so I thought Iâ??d give it a try. Itâ??s super easy to use and I downloaded an app that tracks the insertion and removal dates so forgetting is not a problem! The only side effects Iâ??ve noticed were mild cramping and breast tenderness for the first month, and now just before my period each month. My periods are lighter and more consistent and Iâ??ve had no adverse side effects. While it might not be right for everyone, I love the ease of use of the product and that itâ??s a lower dose of hormones in comparison to the pill. Definitely would recommend trying it out! I have only been on the nuvaring for approximately half a year however I have found that it has caused my sex drive to decrease substantially. Both my boyfriend and I can feel the ring during intercourse and I find that I feel the ring rubbing when I am walking around. I get intermittent pain to my cervix & I have tried repositioning the ring etc however I still have irritation. Has anyone had similar experiences? I have found that I don't get any breakthrough bleeding with the ring which I love as I had a lot of trouble with spotting while on the pill. Read More Read Less

PLEASE DON'T USE. I'm honestly surprised this hasn't been discontinued. Of course, when I started using Nuvaring it was new, so hopefully some time soon doctors realize the horrible long term effects. It was great at first, no mood swings, no weight gain, acne went away, it was easy to use and didn't think about the pill. However. 2 years after using it, I started to bleed (a lot) every time I had sex. After two months of this, I stopped taking Nuvaring. Then I bled the whole month..for 6months now, during and after sex. The doctor said my cervix bleeds every time it is touched, and they don't have any clue why because all tests have come back negative for STD, HIV, etc. Makes sense that my cervix is irritated considering there was a hormonal ring hanging out next to it for two years. It seems great at first but is not worth it in the long run, I would never in a million years even consider taking birth control again, that's how bad this has effected me.Read More Read Less

I LOVE nuvaring!!! I used it from age 17-20 (then got a copper IUD, had complications and a surgery) and I'm now using nuvaring again in my 30s. I forget it's there to be honest. It's important to check it's there atleast 1x a week but I've never had it fall out. It doesn't make me sick (like the patch) no weight gain or other side effects. If you use it right it works! A side note, everything has side effects, so don't let these stories scare you. Birth control is on the market for a reason, its worth it not to have an unwanted pregnancy! Thought this birth control needed more positivity:)Read More Read Less

For reference, I was previously taking Tri-Sprintec which stopped agreeing with my body - I started to experience breakthrough bleeding during weeks 2 and 3. I was then switched to Sprintec, which also had the same side effects along with constant hunger. I thought I’d give Nuvaring a try as I liked the idea of not having to remember to take a pill everyday. I do not feel it at all at any point, I’ve had no issues with it falling out, no hunger or other side effects and my period is the lightest it’s ever been and down to about 3 days. Very happy. I know most people only leave reviews when they’re unhappy with something. I wanted to be sure the positive is also shared as everyone is different. Read More Read Less

I am writing this for my 19 year old daughter Shelby Pepin. Shelby died from a pulmonary embolism caused by the NuvaRing. Shelby had no warning signs that anything was wrong and died instantly. Please do not take a chance with your life there are many other safe methods of birth control. Make sure you are aware of what you're putting in your body and don't ignore any unusual indications that something's not right.

I have used NuvaRing for years now and not had any major problems with it. I did not experience weight gain or depression or even a lowered sex drive! The only thing I don't like about it is that sometimes during sex it will come out randomly or the guy will feel it and it weirds him out. I'm also not a fan of putting it in/taking it out but that's a personal preference on your body.
