Every birth control pill is different. Seriously. I have been on 3 different types of birth control pills and all three gave me different reactions. Everyone reacts differently to each different pill. I have researched horror stories on every pill that I've ever been on, and each time it's the same, "OH IT'S POISON!". Blah, blah, blah. This was really frustrating for me, as a woman, to try t...

This drug is horrible, i advise ANYONE to steer clear of this Birth Control, it has given me DISFIGURING acne on my shoulders, chest, back and face. I was extremely depressed on the pill. I just wanted to die from the acne. I contimplated suicide. Im off of the drug now, but obviously im left with the horrible acne, which i now think is getting worse from having to adjust back to my regular hormon...

UPDATE: I've been on Alesse 28 for almost two years now, my previous review was in July 2014. For birth control, Alesse is still working well for me - I haven't had any side effects or weird symptoms, and sexual drive is still normal. For acne - now this is big! My acne has IMPROVED SO MUCH! My skin is clear and I just occasionally get one or two breakouts here and there during my period. However, my period is lighter now and starts a week earlier then it suppose to (suppose to come during my 'sugar' pill week) which seems a little irregular? Not sure. Another note: There was a time in between renewing my prescription where I didn't have my pills for 2 months, and my acne returned (unfortunately) and then when I started the pill again, I had a lot of hair loss - it wasn't in chunks or anything, but I was losing a lot of strands (more than normal) which made me reconsider renewing my next prescription. The only thing is that I love how my skin looks right now and I don't want to go back to having acne.Read More Read Less

I'm 21 and I've been on Alesse for over 4 years now and I LOVE IT!! I haven't had any problems with it and I find that I have no cramps, clear skin, and I still have my sex drive.. I was reading these reviews and a lot of them are negative??? I was wondering if anyone likes the product as much as I do??

I have been on Alesse for about 6 months now. I'm 20, 5'3. Unfortunately I have had some side effects such as weight gain and headaches. However, the worst one for me has been managing my emotions. I never used to be an emotional person. I hardly ever cried. Now, that is literally all I do. For reasons that aren't even worth being upset about. So other than crying 24/7 it's a pretty good product.

I am 25 and have had light acne and moderate to severe period cramps for as long as I can remember. However, this past summer I began having bad acne breakouts on my forehead and cheeks, coupled with severe period cramps that required me to stay home from work and take pain killers. My doctor prescribed me Alesse, citing that it has been known to help with hormonal acne and lessening the severity of menstrual cramping and blood flow. I have taken it for a little over a month and just had my first period on it, and I am happy to report that I had no cramping and my flow was very light (could get away with just using a panty liner). I am still getting pimples here and there, but my face is much better than where it was a month ago. I have experienced no side-effects using Alesse. Read More Read Less

I've taken Alesse for 3 years and decided to stop. I took it more for helping with my extremely painful cramps. However, it only helped with regulating my periods and clearing up acne. Side effects: bloating, headache, mood swings, depression and weight gain.

I have been on Alysena-28 for five days and so far it is a little bit discomforting. I have had abdominal pain for about 6 straight hours, mind you, it's not constant but kind of comes in waves. It's very uncomfortable but I'm thinking it is a minor side effect. I have never experienced side effects to any drug before, I was previously on TRI-cyclen lo for five years.

Been on this Alysena for 1.5 years now, but am going to discontinue with the product. It's been great for clearing my acne and making my period regular. But my side effects have been gradually getting worse. Some bad side effects I've experienced include: menstrual cramps, headaches, mood changes, and depression. The headaches and depression in particular have been getting worse with the use of the product.

Almost finished my second pack. No weight gain nor increase in cup size, acne has been the same or if anything gotten worse. I do enjoy the regular periods and the absence of cramps for the most part (there is just minor cramps occasionally during the placebo pills). Did experience heavy spotting my entire first pack until i finished the placebo pills, i actually wore a pad everyday for 3 weeks because there was so much, but now theres no spotting at all.

I started this drug as I was having very painful periods and fibroids. I gained 10-15 lbs with a very healthy and active lifestyle. I cannot lose it. I can't hug people for two weeks every month as my breasts are so tender. The worst is after three months of no spotting I went to periods that lasted 2 weeks. Not enjoyable at all. Switching pills to one that has worse reviews as what my pharmacy seems to have in stock is what I get. Never match's the prescription pad.

I have never been so nauseous until I took this pill. It could be different for other women but I seriously do not reccommend this pill. I was so sick to the point that The nausea would wake me up at 3 in the morning and I would be up for 3 hours with puking and the worst nausea I've ever felt. I even would eat right before I took it to try and prevent sickness...guess that didn't work.

Alysena 21, been taking for about 2 years. Switched pills because I felt sick in the morning, boobs were always sore, zero sex drive, and minor depression. Plus side; clear skin, period same day every month, went from B cup to a C cup. Todays day 1 on Ortho 777 and the reviews aren't awesome so heres hoping I'm an exception :/

I have been on Alysena 28 for just over one month now, my experience has been good so far. I have had a few side effects but they were minor. My skin broke out at first but quickly cleared up actually improved my skin greatly. I have had no weight gain, or moodiness with this drug. I have had minor spotting but nothing serious. Overall I am happy with this birth control however it effects everyone differently so keep that in mind.

I started taking Alesse because I had severe acne. Within 6 months I was completely clear like I never had been in a while. Unfortunately it lasted a 1.5 year and then my acne came back even if I was still on Alesse.. I'm now moving on to Yaz in the hope it's going to get clear again !

First birth control I've ever taken. Tiniest pill in the world, not chalky, easy to swallow. I've been on it for 3 weeks and I've gained 6 pounds due to excessive hunger and NEVER feeling full, I've been super moody and irritable, I have absolutely no sex drive, I can't sleep and somehow I'm fully functional on 2 hours of sleep, and I'm now waking up to a new little pimple farm on my face every morning. It's like being on my period all the time sans craps and heavier bleeding. Switching asap.

I've been on this pill for 3 months now & this is the first birth control pill I've ever been on. Other people have been talking about weight gain & acne break outs, but I haven't experienced either of these. I've always had pretty clear skin, getting one or two pimples on my face here & there & this pill has not made a difference in this or made me have bad break outs or anything. I'm about 110 pounds & haven't gained any weight on it & I eat pretty much whatever I want & don't exercise very regularly either.. I haven't used any other method of birth control for the past 2 months & I haven't become pregnant so I'm confident it works well. I haven't had any mood changes or tiredness like some other people have mentioned either. In conclusion, I like this pill.. it does what it's supposed to & I have not noticed any negative side effects at all & I will continue to use it. Read More Read Less

I have been using this pill for 3.5 weeks and it has caused me heavy cramping and a LOT of spot bleeding. I have bled every day so far that I taken it. It's been so much bleeding that it's been like a 3.5 week long period. I feel very demotivated to be active (I'm usually really active), I but suddenly I'd rather sleep than hike or bike ride etc. Like someone else mentioned, I am now nauseous after drinking coffee. I love coffee and have never felt like this before. I'll be stopping this pill at the end of the week even though I bought a 3 month supply and will have to go back to the doctor for a new prescription. I should mention that I have taken other pills before on and off with no side effects.Read More Read Less
