This drug is horrible, i advise ANYONE to steer clear of this Birth Control, it has given me DISFIGURING acne on my shoulders, chest, back and face. I was extremely depressed on the pill. I just wanted to die from the acne. I contimplated suicide. Im off of the drug now, but obviously im left with the horrible acne, which i now think is getting worse from having to adjust back to my regular hormon...

Alesse 28 was the first birth control that I've ben on. I had very irregular periods before and I wanted to get rid of the surprises and the stress that would come when I didn't get my period. I was on the pill for about 2 months, in terms of having a regular period it worked awesome! I've had to stop taking it because I suffered from severe mood swings, constant headaches and migraines. I was always nauseous and had severe abdominal pain. However, we believe that I only suffered from this because I couldn't handle the estrogen. It worked fantastic for the reasons that I needed it to it just started to negatively affect my health so it was time to switch.Read More Read Less

I used this medication for skin breakout, which it pretty much cleared up which is good but it made me sooo moody. I would be very easily annoyed by everything and everyone. I had to get off it because I always felt so awful and mad and upset. It also gave me very very severe headaches and bloating. Throwing up and weight gain also came at the beginning of it. Only lasted a moth on it. If this affects you with these side affects try talking to your Dr for a lower mg prescription. Hope this helped! Read More Read Less

Feeling angry and moody since taking the first pill. Headaches, terrible breast pain and constant nausea. This drug was not for me. I am also spotting. WTH? I will deal with my cysts and heavy bleeding another way. I can't believe with such a low dose I had these side effects right away. Just returned these pills to the pharmacist.

I have had no side effects from this pill! No weight loss, no illness or discomfort, no changes in skin appearance or feeling, and without changing anything in my lifestyle. I feel exactly like I did before I started using it and have been on it for several years. I started BC in HS due to some family history issues and was concerned. I heard about it increasing breast size (I am a 34DD with a size 3 dress size, it was a scary thought) and haven't had any of that. My skin is still the way it was (clear) and even my contacts are unaffected, which was the biggest concern among my doctors. I am the same me that I always, I just also know that I am taking care of my body/health by being prepared for anything a woman may experience.Read More Read Less

Still in "trial" mode. Other than loss of appetite and nausea it has been great.

I used Alesse for almost a year and it worked but had one strange minor side effect. I would feel nauseous after I would drink coffee or eat peanut butter. Since I stopped taking it, the effects have stopped which is a pretty good indication that they had something to do with the medication.

Alesse is the worst birth control I have ever used - I started using it to regulate my period. I now how massive welt-like pimples all over my chin, they won't pop either, they just fill back up with liquid bacteria and stay (visibly) under my skin for weeks. I am also incredibly hormonal, manic, rude, tired, and in turn - newly single THANKS A LOT ALESSE. Do not trust this company or medication.

I am on the generic brand of alesse, called avaine. I have been on it for a month now. So far everything has been alright no side effects, except I have been extremely itchy. I have heard that some differnt kinds of BC can cause that, so I don't know if it is because of the avaine or something else. Has anyone else had this problem?

A recent comment stated the generic Alesse Lutera did not work for her,I take a generic form of Alesse called Aviane-28. This is the combination pill of levonorgestrel and ethinyl estradiol USP 0.10mg/0.02mg.I have no complaints as I have been taking this for the past 8 yrs.

I only took it for 3 weeks and about mid-way through the third week, I started having SEVERE anxiety. It was causing me to have panic attacks. Although I had some things going on in my life at the time to worry about, this made me blow them out of proportion. I also had leg cramping & my heart was racing all the time. I'm not sure if that was separate or related to the anxiety, though.

I started on Alesse when I was 17 for painful and heavy periods. I went over a year with no side effects and was very satisfied with it. I didn’t experience any weight gain, breast tenderness or nausea and my skin cleared up within 3 weeks. Although I did have minor cramping the first day of my period, it was a tremendous improvement from having to take prescription painkillers for cramps. In hindsight I did tend to get very emotional the first day of my period, but was fine the rest of the month. I never once worried about pregnancy and trusted it as a birth control because I never had any side effects that mimicked early pregnancy. I switched from Alesse to Seasonale under my physicians advice because they both contain the same hormone and we thought that having 4 periods a year would be more convenient. The side effects were horrible because of the increase in estrogen levels between the two pills. I switched back to Alesse after 2 months because I couldn’t take the insane side effects (ranging from severe acne to yeast infections to anxiety attacks). I would definitely recommend Alesse, especially to those who have had problems with Ortho-tri-cyclen and Seasonale because of the lower estrogen level. Read More Read Less

I've been on it for almost a year. No side effect and the greatest thing besides not getting pregnant is the my periods are really short and light now.

I had tried several pills but i really liked this one cause it addressed my painful periods, acne, regulated my flow, my mood swings stablized and i did well with a light breakfast. Only downside was I gained some weight but the positives out weigh the weight gain.

I have been on alesse on and off for the past 8 years to 10 years. Im 99% accurate on taking it everyday. Have never gotten pregnant, have regular periods, have gained a few lbs anytime I restarted it, never have had nausea. Only curiosity is if maybe it has decreased my sex drive, but that may just be something else. Every once in a blue moon I will have irregular bleeding. My only complaint is my periods still last between 6 and 8 days normally. Seems alittle long but if it keeps me from having a baby right now I'm good. =) Read More Read Less

Every birth control pill is different. Seriously. I have been on 3 different types of birth control pills and all three gave me different reactions. Everyone reacts differently to each different pill. I have researched horror stories on every pill that I've ever been on, and each time it's the same, "OH IT'S POISON!". Blah, blah, blah. This was really frustrating for me, as a woman, to try to figure out which pill would work for me. I started on Ortho Tri Cyclen-Lo which was new and expensive and supposedly the "best" birth conrol to be on. Not only was it expensive, I was very nauseated in the mornings. After a month, I switched to Tri-Sprintec which is the generic version of Ortho Tri-Cyclen. I was on it for about four months (because you need to give the bc pills at least a month) and I began getting horrible yeast infections and headaches. I was so upset, that I quit the pill altogether. However, after a broken condom, the morning after pill, and another horrible yeast infection due to the high dose of estrogen that Plan B uses, I decided I had to go back on the pill. I spoke with my provider and told her that I'm incredibly sensitive to estrogen, and that it gives me awful yeast infections. So she picked out Alesse which has a lower dose of progestin and estrogen. I have been on Alesse for a little while now, and I have to say, it is by far, THE BEST pill that I've ever been on. I had limited nausea and weight gain. (Sorry ladies, no matter what pill you're on, you're bound to gain weight). Just be healthy. Eat healthy and exercise. I haven't had a yeast infection since being on it and my migraines have not increased. So basically, I recommend this drug to women, like me, who are very sensitive to other birth control pills. It will not work for everyone, but it is most certainly working for me. All in all, A+.Read More Read Less

When I began using Alesse for birth control it made me feel really nauseated and dizzy. I thought that was just normal hormone adjustment. I do not recommend this drug for anyone. I had hair loss shortly after beginning this medication. The hair on the nape of my neck began to rapidly fall out and moved a couple inches up. This whole area is extremely smooth and has never grown back! It has been eight years. I STRONGLY do not recommend this medication.

I developed severe depression and an anxiety disorder while on this drug. I also lost a serious amount of weight, to the point of being dangerously underweight. I began cramping severely, vomiting, and believe I developed liver problems that were never diagnosed.
