Every birth control pill is different. Seriously. I have been on 3 different types of birth control pills and all three gave me different reactions. Everyone reacts differently to each different pill. I have researched horror stories on every pill that I've ever been on, and each time it's the same, "OH IT'S POISON!". Blah, blah, blah. This was really frustrating for me, as a woman, to try t...

This drug is horrible, i advise ANYONE to steer clear of this Birth Control, it has given me DISFIGURING acne on my shoulders, chest, back and face. I was extremely depressed on the pill. I just wanted to die from the acne. I contimplated suicide. Im off of the drug now, but obviously im left with the horrible acne, which i now think is getting worse from having to adjust back to my regular hormon...

This birth control is WACK!! DO NOT RECOMMEND!! It made my vagina burn for two weeks over Christmas and itâ??s made me so depressed to the point where I wanna kill myself sometimes. My period is wack too. Iâ??ve been on my period for a month straight now with cramps and all. My vagina burns from time to time and itâ??s so terrible I wouldnâ??t wish it upon my worst enemy. Pls just take my advice this birth control is absolute garbage. I mean i havenâ??t gotten pregnant but none of these side effects are worth it. Absolute rubbish. And the depression is insane! Iâ??ve been so damn sad for the three months that Iâ??ve been on it to the point where I just donâ??t wanna live anymore. Highly Not recommended!! Read More Read Less

I was put on this birth control for my acne which has always been present in my adult years but had recently flared up slightly (I had just gone through a stressful few weeks and my period was two weeks late so I told myself it would get better) but I was visiting my mom and she couldn't believe my breakouts and convinced me to go to the doctor. They prescribed me this. Immediately after starting I broke out worse than I have in my entire life. It is the most painful, cystic acne and the most dense I've ever had it! I promised myself I'd wait till the 3 month mark and hope that my body was just adjusting and would improve, but I'm now halfway through the second pack and it's getting WORSE and I'm super emotional with no appetite at all. So after reading these reviews I'm quitting. If you are prescribed this for acne DO YOUR RESEARCH FIRST!! Let's just hope my skin can recover now and I don't have too much scarring. Biggest mistake I ever made!Read More Read Less

I didn’t know if I would like this pill considering some of the reviews that I saw online. This pill for the first week gave me slightest headaches but other than that this pill has worked perfect for me.

Works fine with little side effects as long as you take it EXACTLY as prescribed. If you plan on skipping your period or taking less than the 7 sugar pills I would avoid this BC at all costs. Gave me brown discharge/blood for a month straight from skipping period, and then again for a couple of weeks when I took 5 sugar pills instead of 7. Also there seems to be recalls for this bc every couple of months for chipped pills.

Alysena (Alesse generic) works as a birth control pill and prevents pregnancy if you take is as prescribed, however, it caused all sorts of side-effects for me, which made the first 3 months a nightmare until I switched to Yasmin which stopped my issues immediately. First of all, Alysena caused a huge amount of painful acne in my face, which made me look like a teen. I had issues with acne before but not to this extent and hoped that the pill would cure it, however, after three months, there was no improvement with Alysena. In the first month of taking Alysena, I had horrible breakthrough bleeding; my body simply could not adapt to the cycle of the pills. These unpredictable bleedings would not stop until the third month or pack; it was hard to tell if the bleeding was breakthrough bleeding or an actual period at times since it was very heavy and accompanied by typical menstrual pain and cravings; at times, I also thought the irregular spotting was implantation bleeding and I went through three pregnancy tests at my doctor to be sure the birth control is actually working. In the third month/pack, the acne was unchanged, the bleeding got less, but suddenly, a new side-effect appeared, my stomach got very upset that whenever I was eating something, I almost had to vomit, which, again, made me believe I was pregnant and I went for another pregnancy test. Depression is another issue provoked by Alysena. Eventually, I switched to Yasmin and had no side-effects since starting the first pack. I had no irregular bleeding since Yasmin, no pain, less mood swings, unless they were PMS-related. My acne has gotten a slightly better, but it's far from perfect, yet, but I hope, it's only a matter of time with Yasmin, which is also prescribed as a regular acne treatment. Read More Read Less

I've been on this medication for 3-4 months and it works great for my abnormal periods. Made me normal with minimal cramping. It did however give me acne on my chest, back and face that I didn't have before. I also had an increase in headaches once I started the medication. So I am switching to another pill to see if the side effects are less.

I've been taking alesse for 2 months now and I couldn't be happier with it. It gives me peace of mind and has proved to be very effective. It's a very small pill, so it's really easy to take. The only side effects I experienced were breast tenderness and a few mood swings. Nothing extreme, and I'm very happy with it!

I've was on Alesse for about 14 months until two weeks ago I decided to get off it. I'm 25, in a lo term relationship and felt st ease knowing I was taking some preventive ,erasures towards pregnancy. However, I just could not bare the side effects. I had migraines every other day(sometimes daily), my libido was lessened; I barely had any sex drive, my periods were very confusing and most of all- I was really emotional. I could not control my emotions while using this drug. It was coming in between my own personal life (relationships, work) and I couldn't take it any more. Since I've been off Alesse, I feel my spirits uplifted. I'm hornier than I ever was on the pill and my headaches reduced about 75%. I'm happy I'm off but I'm going to a clinic to maybe talk about another brand. I still want to protect myself but bottom line, Alesse did not work for me, health wise. Read More Read Less

I have been on Alesse for 3 months now to help with severe menstrual cramps. Unfortunately, I have been experiencing several side effects including headaches, mood swings, low libido, minor depression and anxiety. My cramps have gone away but the side effects are taking a toll on my mental health. Everyone is different but this pill definitely wasn't for me!

I've been on this for 4 months. I took this for my acne and now have much more severe, red, swollen pimples on my chin and cheeks. My sex drive is not doing well and I gained around 5 pounds. I have bad mood swings and cry a lot. I do not recommend

I spot every month. It's like having a period for a month but it's very light and I don't notice it. It's still better then not having time between periods

Alesse 28 is the first birth control pill my doctor prescribed and the only pill I have ever taken and is still currently taking. I chose to go on the pill because I believe it is best option and the most convenient for me to prevent pregnancy while regulating my period. My average period cycle is 36-39days and tends to be irregular than most. I have been on the pill for almost 2 weeks now and so far, so good. My body seem to have adjusted well to Alesse 28. The only side effects I experienced was very mild headaches, and nausea during the first 2 days of starting the pill. I also experienced a little breast tenderness during the first week. No mood swings, or weight gain/loss and my sex drive has remained the same. Overall, great birth control pill.Read More Read Less

DO NOT TAKE ALYSENA. I was 17 when I took Alysena 28 for about 5/6 months and throughout that time I was not myself. Even though I realize that I'm a teenager and we get moody, I never get moody like this. I would constantly be mad at my boyfriend for the most ridiculous reasons. I became very moody, anxious and depressed all of the time. It was as if I was pms-ing ALL of the time EXCEPT when I was on my actual period!!! (I actually felt happier once I got my period and was on the sugar pills which should be saying something!!) Everyone of my friends I have spoken to who used to take Alysena had the same experience. Don't waste your time and ask your doctor for a different alternative if you can.Read More Read Less

Didn't experience many side effects, although i will say i had major discharge and spotting for the first month so i had to wear a pad everyday. But other then that i've experienced frequent mild headaches (only last a few mins), acne has stayed the same. Overall a pretty good pill and fixed my issue of painful and irregular periods. Also during the sugar pill period i do get minor cramps but nowhere near what i had before.

I'm 20 and have been taking alesse for 8 months. It cleared up my skin, my sex drive has remained normal, it prevented any pregnancy, I attribute no weight gain to this drug, sugar pill week periods are lighter and I do not get as moody or as many cramps during that time. I haven't experience any personality change (which was a concerning side effect for me); I haven't become girlier, moodier or lethargic. All drugs affect people different due to differences in thier natrual body chemistry, regardless I would recommend this BC.Read More Read Less

I've been using Alesse 28 for 4 years and I've never experienced a single side effect or problem. Absolutely a great medication and I have nothing bad to say about it ! It really helps with a lot of the pains that come with your monthly flow.

I love my period ever since I started birth control! Before I started birth control I had a medium- heavy flow. Although it doesn't completely make it lighter it helps to control when you get your period etc. I had cup size of 32B and my boobs grew after two whole months to a 32D. It has helped make my skin acne free. Downside of this is when I started, the first whole week I was an emotional wreck. I cried about everything but I got over it after a week or so. I definitely recommend.

I started this birth control because I had abnormal periods that were heavy and some ranged between 4 days up to 2 weeks. I've been on this for three months and I think I'm done with it. It wasn't bad starting off. The past two months have been hell. I have been very emotional, sad and upset. I am normally a very happy person. This pill has made me become into something I'm not. It has increased my anxiety levels through the roof and I get upset about everything. Other than that, it's good for periods. Read More Read Less

Just quit Alesse after 4 months. I tried to tough it out and give it time but it just wasn't working. I was always hungry (alwyas craved sweet stuff), then I would eat and feel constantly nautious and bloated. I had no energy and felt tired. Didn't really gain much weight, no more than 5 pounds. But that was mostly water weight in my boobs and hip/tummy area. My boobs went up a cup size but they were always super sore. I got bad mood swings. I was depressed and anxious often. I got lots of headaches, this pill also made my acne worse (cystic acne on my chin, chest and back), and much lower sex drive, was also dry down there often. After those I told myself to give it another month, so I started my fourth month pack, and after 10 days I quit, I got bad leg cramps, I was losing strands of hair and I had a lot of teeth plaque. This was all so weird to me because Alesse is "ultra low dose", but I was fed up so I decided to quit. It's been 3 days off of this pill and I can honestly say that my mood has improved tremendously. I have SO much energy now, I'm never tired anymore and I can finally eat without feeling so sick. I'm glad it works for some people but please consider the risks you could be taking with this pill.Read More Read Less
