After years of being treated unsuccessfully for depression, my family doctor diagnosed me with ADD. I have only been on this medication for 1 month, but I want to know - is this what life is like for other people? Can life truly be this effortless? Gone are the constant extraneous thoughts. I can listen to people all the way through a whole sentence, and feel much more connected to the world....

I am a 45 year old female, recently diagnosed with ADHD, which I knew I had my whole life. I have often felt paralyzed and overwhelmed with so many things to do and can't stay on one task. I am opening a photography studio soon and am fearing failure due to my lack of organization. Strattera is the third med I have tried. Although it has calmed we way down, I feel I am too tired and not ambito...

I absolutely hated this drug. The drug would last for about an hour then i would crash and become extremely tired to the point where I would doze off. It made me not want to talk to anyone and feel like a zombie. I'd also get goosebumps randomly. I tried different doses but all of them didn't work. I recommend adderall or focalin XR.

I am ADHD and never felt so sick and tired, literally, in my life. Strattera isn't helping my deficiency with my attention. It does help me be sleepy and want to vomit everyday. I told my DR that I am used to Adderall and Adderall worked completely! I hope he prescribes me Adderall instead of this Strattera stuff. I recommend to severe ADHD people (like myself)to try Adderall over Strattera, you will be satisfied.

Strattera can work really well, but you MUST start at a VERY low dose and titrate up SLOOOOOOOOOOOOWLY. This is so much more true with Strattera than with any other drug I have ever tried or heard of. If you go too high and/or too fast with dosage, you can get a train wreck. You'll decide that it isn't for you when it could actually make a lot of difference in your condition, which is what happened to me. I'm probably going back on it again, but I'm going to be so careful about not taking too much, too fast. Read More Read Less

I had been on medication for anxiety disorder but after several years I new there was something missing, I was diagnosed with ADD. The switch was made to Strattera. I became very tired all the time and was unable to function because of dizziness. I decided to live with my ADD and learn skills to manage the condition.

I experienced significant sexual side effects with this drug and had to discontinue use. Apparently others have these problems as well, but Strattera says they are "rare." I've never had this reaction to any medication, and as soon as I got off (probably 2 years ago) I've not had these problems again.

I am 38 and have been told many times that I should see a doctor and then I was diagnosed. I've been taken the medication for a couple of months and have noticed a difference. I don't like feeling the tingling in my body it's like iam on a diet. I've been super hungry and feel like I am not getting enough nutrients. I am tired all day but can't sleep but can at night.

I have tried this with a morning dose of a minimal 25mg for ADD with distractibility and no hyperactivity. I am ending the second week, still at 25mg and have to stop the medication. Overall tingling sensation and tightness in chest and throat for the first two days, then the tingling stopped and I felt much better. Settled into focus and work and felt uplifted mood. Occassionally, however, the tightness in chest increased, physical activity felt began to feel like slow motion, unsteadiness, along with extreme fatigue in the afternoon and sleeplessness and anxiety at night. No matter how much I like being able to concentrate, the extreme side effects are discouraging.Read More Read Less

Initial side effects were really bad. I experienced constant nausea and debilitating cramps with my period. It took a while to adjust to the medication.

Straterra was incredibly effective for me at first. I felt a focus and drive I could not recall having experienced before. Over time, however, the effectiveness declined. Increased dosage seemed to help, but eventually faded. After a coupleyears, I no longer sensed any effectiveness, and stopped taking it.

I started strattera about 5 months ago, and I can barely tell a difference in my ability to concentrate or perform in school. It's almost like I haven't taken any medication at all. I tried Concerta as well with the same effects, which were unfortunatley none at all. However, for a patient who is worried about becoming dependent upon a medicine for ADHD, strattera is very non habit forming. The worst side effect is the mood swings that occur when you don't take the medication at the same time every day, they are very severe.Read More Read Less

After taking this drug for about 2 months, i had to go to the hospital because i had excruciating pain in my abdomen. I was also throwing up a lot and had a fever constantly. I was dehydrated, and itchy as well. I was good as new 3 days after i stopped taking strattera.

Strattera was ok, don't get me wrong. When it worked, it worked wonders...but I struggled with mood swings for the first several months, almost everyday and always at 8pm. It was odd, I would just fly into a rage for no reason, and if I did actually have a reason...oh man, watch out. I thought the suicidal thoughts as a side effect were laughable until I started having them. It was totally unemotional, just a matter of fact telling myself I needed to kill myself. Nothing would happen to set off these thoughts and I never had them before or since stopping the medication. On the plus side, when starting the med or when the dose was adjusted I had fantastic results. Focus was not a problem and I did better than ever in my classes(I'm in college). The results wouldn't fade into the late hours of studying and I was thrilled with that. The dosage only lasted for about a week or 2 though. I finally worked my way up to 100mg in the morning and the final 18 at lunch(I'm small, it was a lot, but I had worked up to that dose slowly), when I was getting sick after taking the pills and not having good concentration plus seriously cosidering suicide when I finally realized that I should have stopped it a long time before I did. I say give it a shot, most people don't have serious problems like me...but if your having mood issues stop it IMMEDIATELY! Your life is way more important than being able to focus through the day...there are other medication options.Read More Read Less
