This drug has worked fabulously for controlling my daughter's asthma. HOWEVER,it's side effects have been a nightmare. Began taking it after 3rd birthday, would not longer sleep in her bed, up numerous times /night, horrible temper tantrums, weepy, moody/irritable. Everyone thought she was just "going through a phase." Docs assured me could not be because of meds. They increased her dosage when s...

I've developed a respiratory infection because of untreated allergies. Went to the local clinic and they prescribed antibiotics and Singulair. Very easy to take and worked a little bit in the first couple days, but 9 days after starting it I had to stop because of severe side effects and ineffectiveness. Singulair has caused me to hallucinate, engage in unusual compulsive behaviors, and contemplate suicide whereas before I was perfectly fine. Severely negatively impacted my work and mental state. Would not recommend this at all.Read More Read Less

FAST HEART RATE / PANIC ATTACKS Ask your doctor for some "Metoprolol Tartrate". i also had these attacks. it keeps your heart rate down and blood pressure in a safe area. i found these attacks to happen most often after Eating. Avoid spicy foods They stopped after 10 days of Quitting Montelukast QVAR inhaler seemed to make it worse, its a bad combo. Also i had Bronchial Exertion in my chest. Shortness of breath, Burning, Ache and pain This lasted much longer, around 3 weeks or more Keep a Rescue Inhaler handy. Albuterol Avoid stress, arguments and emotional situations No violent video games. or Movies REST. Dont excersize / workout . try not to get up and do stuff Avoid smoke, air freshener and cleaners / cologne, perfume Just relax and watch comedy shows and wait, it will get betterRead More Read Less

Staying at home through this pandemic means 24 hrs a day exposure to my cat - and I now know how allergic I am to him! Within a week I was wheezing, especially at night, itchy throat, eyes, sneezing constantly. Called the doc and was given a scrip for Singulair and an albuterol inhaler. After reading reviews of both drugs, I was too scared to use either. After another week of wheezing, I finally tried the inhaler and it worked instantly, but I needed it several times a day which I didn't like doing. After another week of struggling to breathe I was desperate enough to set aside the horror story reviews of Singular that I read here and finally took one. I FELT BETTER THE NEXT MORNING. I've been taking Singulair every evening for 10 days now and the wheezing is gone, I can take deep breaths and sleep soundly for the first time in a while. I still take Allegra as well, as I find the Singulair doesn't help with sneezing and itchy nose/throat. I have experienced NO side effects from Singulair. My advice is to give it a chance. I know many have had serious terrible side effects but please don't just read the scary reviews and think they will happen to you. Read More Read Less

Tried every steroid and inhaler on the market and nothing work as well as this. No depression issues but maybe some dizziness. It's been a life changer for me.

This was excellent for my allergy-induced asthma & alleregy symptoms but the level of depression is beyond explanation. Basically I was overcome with feelings of meaninglessness - myself, my job, basically everything. Which is really too bad because it provided such relief of my allergies and asthma.

I broke out in the worst case of HIVES that you could imagine!!!!!!..... It was DEFINITELY the Singular/MONTELUKAST which I reported, with photographs, to the FDA (Food and Drug Administration). This should be taken off the market!!!!... There should be a place here in the Review Section for sharing photographs of physical reactions to drugs because I still have mine and would love to show everyone how UNBELIEVABLY SEVERE my reaction was!!!!!!!

I have allergy induced asthma, worse in the fall season. I started taking montelukast towards the end of August in preparation for my allergy season and started to have 4-5 severe panic attacks per day along with changes in my mood and suicidal thoughts after about 3 days. I even ended up in the ER scared thinking I was having a heart attack. I stopped taking it for a few days when I finished my first prescription and started to feel like I was finally recovering from these acute panic attacks which I had no idea what the cause was. Sure enough, after getting a refill on the montelukast and taking it for 2 days, I had another panic attack. Thatâ??s what helped me make the connection and I googled the reviews and saw I was not the only one. Yes, the drug helped with my asthma I was not using my inhaler at all, but I would rather have shortness of breath than suffer the way I did mentally on this drug. Read More Read Less

My daughter was on this medication from age 6 to 13. She had suicidal thoughts, massive depression and we admitted her to behavioral hospital. I stumbled across info on this medication and stopped medication. She now continues with depression and has short term memory loss. I wish the doctors had told me about these side effects. My daughter is just not the same. DO NOT GIVE TO CHILDREN. We are battling this everyday. I am hoping these effects will go away at some point. She has been off the medicine now for 7 months. I was diagnosed with allergic rhinitis. I was told to use flonase use and allergy pills that never seemed to really work. I suffered terribly and after just 2 days on singulair i can sleep breathing through both nostrils for the first time in forever. Now after 2 weeks on it i barely blow my nose. I love it and can't believe how well it has worked for me. The only side affects i have noticed is it sometimes is harder for me to fall asleep and i tend to dream a bit more than i normally would which is odd. I feel like i have more energy but I'm sure that's because i can finally breathe again. I would recommend this to anyone suffering from allergic rhinitis. Read More Read Less

I?ve been taking this drug for about two or three weeks and Ive noticed that I have been having migraines, numbness in my fingers, depression, excessive out of place anger, suicidal thoughts over stupid things like getting a bad grade, more asthma attacks than when Im off the medication using an inhaler, forgetfulness (one day I even woke up and didnt remember what my mom looked like for about ten minutes) , confusion, flu like symptoms, heart rate increase, problems with random pains, and what i can eat without getting sick. This medication should NEVER be given to a child or anyone for that matter. I can?t believe they haven?t banned this drug yet because every other review Ive found anywhere validates what I?ve been experiencing I cannot find a single good review anywhere for this drug. If youve been prescribed this refuse it. Read More Read Less

The medicine helped with my allergic asthma symptoms, but wow my anxiety increased to much and ended up having to take anti-anxiety medications to much for comfort. I felt great the first few weeks but by the end of the month felt like I was ready to jump out of skin. The medicine was very beneficial helping me with my asthma and allergy problems.

I was given this medication because I'm having bad sinus symptoms due to allergies. I took it for about a week, and I felt slightly better. Less congestion, but I still had some sinus pain. What made me stop taking it was urinary issues. I wet the bed one night. This does happen to me on occasion, especially when I pee in a dream, which is what happened. I didn't think much of it at first. But then it happened again only two nights later. Never have I had two incidences so close together. It's usually pretty rare. Read More Read Less

Asthmatic since baby. Started singular as soon as it came on market. When it went generic, found out the hard way that sandoz manufacturer didn't work. They gave me camber manufacturer and big difference.

My doctor treated me with this drug just last month after having a bout of bronchitis and living with asthma (diagnosed in my late 30's) I have suffered for YEARS with wheezing, coughing, phlegm and chest tightness always thinking it was just asthma. He said, "I think something else is going on", hence Singulair. I LOVE it! No more tissues in my hand 24-hours a day, no more chest tightness, less wheezing, little coughing and NO side effects. This has literally been a God Send for me. I wish someone had prescribed it years ago so I could have been happier and healthier. Thank you, doctor/Captain! Read More Read Less
