This drug has worked fabulously for controlling my daughter's asthma. HOWEVER,it's side effects have been a nightmare. Began taking it after 3rd birthday, would not longer sleep in her bed, up numerous times /night, horrible temper tantrums, weepy, moody/irritable. Everyone thought she was just "going through a phase." Docs assured me could not be because of meds. They increased her dosage when s...

My doctor prescribed this after I'd been sick and the tightness in my chest wasn't going away, thinking it's probably allergies. I do have asthma, although it's not chronic, mostly cat-induced. I've been on it for a month and I don't notice any difference.

This medication that I've taken for almost 10 years has altered my mood, made me react in anger over minor things, and caused a rise in my blood pressure (see prior anger issue). Besides not liking myself, it has caused me to be distant from others. It occurred to me one day that my "negative voices" in my head and my anger could be related. I stopped the medication and in three days could tell a huge difference. I'll take my chances with over the counter stuff. I'm done with this medication. I got my life back.Read More Read Less

This med has been a blessing. I use this along with Allegra and can now be around dogs and cats without a problem. Previously, I would develop asthma symptoms within a few days of being with animals.

The medication is easy to take and very inexpensive. It hasn't been very effective for management if my asthma. The only side effect I have noticed is strangenurinary issues beginning day 2 or 3 - I cannot easily empty my bladder and even when I think I have I tend to continue "leaking" for quite some time. Twice I have woken up to use the bathroom in the middle of the night and wake hours later to feel wet. I don't wet the bed, so to speak, but the leakage is significant. Around 24 hours after discontinuation of the medication this resolves. But I have not taken the medication for more than 3 days straight, so I don't know if the side effect would resolve on it's own.Read More Read Less

My gp prescribed generic singular to lessen my use of benedryl to control my allergy symptoms to grass, trees, and mold. In week one, I was surprised by mystery stabbing pains in my right foot. I was also feeling highly agitated, as if I had lots of caffeine, which I avoid because I am sensitive to caffeine, but I attributed that agitated feeling to the stress of my mom being hospitalized for two months. My energy level was very low. Then, the congestion with a hacking cough went way overboard. I thought that I had been exposed to the latest viral crud. After two days of misery, my husband pointed out the fact that my symptoms worsened when I started this new pill. I went to my clinic where I received a steroid injection and a script for steroid pills. I could not tell that the steroids had any effect. My temp was normal, no pneumonia or bronchitis. My dr declared that he has been prescribing singular, always the generic, for years and he had never seen any adverse side effects. Lucky me, to be the first. In the past eleven days accompanied with laryngitis since I stopped taking this pill, the congestion level is slowly, and I mean, very slowly, returning to "normal for me." The feeling of being highly agitated subsided in twenty four hours after stopping the pill. I want to thank the people who posted their negative experiences with generic singular because their posts helped me to realize that what I was experiencing was totally due to this medication and not because of some viral crud. As others have noted, this started working almost immediately, within an hour of my first dose. The tightness in my chest that is ALWAYS there went away almost completely. Then about 5 hours later the agitation/anxiety kicked in. And dizziness. And sleeplessness. After 6 days I just couldn't take the side effects anymore and had to stop using it. Very disappointing, because it DOES help the asthma, and my nebulizer and inhaled steroid don't really do anything anymore.

I had taken singulair since I could remember. I switched to generic once my pharmacy started to offer it. During my time on it, I didn't notice much difference in my breathing but was quick to change mood and developed anxiety. I'm not sure it was the medicine alone but it did not help.

I have had no side effects, and this medication has been like a miracle drug for my allergy symptoms. I have also noticed that when I have a cold, my symptoms are milder than they were before I began taking this medication.

I have a history of on and off depression, so I was afraid to take this drug. There are days, however, where my allergies make me feel terrible, with sinus pressure and heavy lungs. On the days where I am beyond miserable, I will take one tablet of Singulair, just to break the symptom cycle. The medicine starts to work within an hour, and other than some initial mild stomach pain and maybe some tiredness, I feel great. I can finally breathe! It's awesome! That being said, will not be taking this medicine regularly, I just don't want to take any chances with my mental health. Read More Read Less

I have been taking this medicine for about a month or two. I have experimented all of the side effects, as soon as i started taking it. No one else takes this medication in my family but me. I am the only one with these side effects in my family. I would not recommend this medication.

This drug is DANGEROUS!!!! Read the reviews and proceed with caution my friends! You are not going crazy! After two crazy insane nights on this DEVIL drug I thought I was losing my mind- hallucinations like you would not believe, foggy brain throughout the day, general "what the hell did I take feelings?"... I spoke to my pharmacist, and she said, "no one has complained to me about any adverse effects of this drug"- let me enlighten you to my experience. Well, welcome to my reality and the reality of hundreds of other users when you search for the truth of this drug's affects on users who have experienced adverse side affects. It is especially harmful to children...so sad!!! Research it yourself and find the truth. Praise God, my nightmare only lasted a couple days!Read More Read Less
