I was diagnosed with Pseudotumor Cererbi in Nov 2009. I went to the eye DR for a flashing in my left eye and went from there. My eye test at that time was great 20/20 so no vision issues at that time. I went to see the neuro opthamologist and he did few test including a field vision test and my vision was fine but the fluid was bad in the left eye(flashing eye) and moderate in the right. In D...

I have been taking Diamox for over 15 yrs. It has saved my life! I could not function without it. I am leading a very active life today. I was taking 500mg once a day and now I am on 500mg just twice a week. My symptoms are very mild. I am grateful to have this!

Just returned from a hike on the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu in Peru. Was advised by MD that Diamox could prevent altitude sickness. I experienced no symptoms of altitude sickness, but did have some tingling in fingers and toes (also upper lip). These effects were mild. The trek was wonderful. Would recommend to anyone climbing trekking the Inca Trail.

this treatment has been working well with my IIH, but it makes my arms turn red when right after i take my first dose. I learned i had to eat with this medication very quickly, due to the medicine making my stomach upset. overall im pleased with it, just wish my Pharmacy's carried it. it's very hard to locate in my area the quantiy i need.

I have been taking diamox 4 times a day for about a month for benign inter cranial hypertension and I have had all the side effects magnified it seems (tingleing hands/feet& face, altered taste with carbinated beverages, cotton mouth, fatigue) it seems to be helping the disease but the side effects suck and are not getting any better.

Took diamox a couple of times with great success. Last time it was not effective. Any suggestions as to what may have caused this?? (I was at the same altitude each time)

i have been on diamox for almost a year now and have had little results from it. It stated out working good and then the headaches and stiffness in the neck came back so my dr. uped it from 250 mg 1x day to 250mg 2x day, same thing happend a few months later symptoms came back, so now i am on 500mg 2x a day and the symptoms are coming back. I have had on spinal tap done and it only helped for about a day or two my dr wants to do another but i am hesitant because the first one didnt work. seriously thinking screw the medicine and just go ahead with the shunt, I have every side affect there is for this pill tingling in the hands feet and even my upper lip, stay tired have a consatnt headache, i am sesitive to light and anything else u could think of. I climbed Kili and didn't want to take the chance of severe altitude sickness and was quite pleased with the drug. I did not vomit (which can be common) and no real sign of headaches except on the summit day (but nothing until about 17k feet altitude). I was concerned with taking the drug after reading the side effects - yes there is tingling in the feet and hands, but nothing severe. Also - the first couple days I felt very tired and cranky, but after that no real mood/energy side effects. I would recommend this for any true high altitude hiking/climbing.Read More Read Less

I have a form of paroxymal dystonia, which did not respond to the medications typically used to treat this condition. For 25 years, I have taken Diamox or the generic form of Diamox with very good results. There are some side effects, but they are minimal compared to complete disability, which I experienced prior to treatment.

I have been takin med for about a week so not long. I am taking it to prevent migraines which so far hasn't worked but it's side effects are what get to me most. I don't mind loss of appetite as I need to lose weight. The increased urination is bothersome as embarrassing as this is I wet my bed :( I take in mornin to avoid this prob but it didn't work. Tingling hands and lips, nausea, and I've heard of people getting muscle pain but my knee is so bad I can barely walk and wake up in pain. I'm unsure if that's related but can't think of what I couldve done to hurt it this badly. The pain has me in tears :( put call in to doc for answers as I am sensitive to all meds and typically I get the side effects as well as rare side effects. So for me the side effects outweigh benefit. Oh and I can't drink any carbonated beverage it tastes so bad and sour seems more intense.Read More Read Less

Due to Arnold Chiari Malformation Type one, I have had severe headaches for the past 15 years. I also have a shunt because I developed hydrocephalus. I have tried MANY different meds but I get ammune to everything. I have been on Diamox for almost 7 months now and it has been great. I take 3 550mg pills a day. I do have the annoying side effects of the pins and needles in feet, hands and face. I can not taste soft drinks and I have to force myself to eat. I will continue to deal with the side effects as long as it helps my headaches.Read More Read Less

I went to see the neuro opthamologist and he did few test including a field vision test and my vision was fine but the fluid was bad in the left eye(flashing eye) and moderate in the right. In Dec to check the pressure I had a spinal tap which also helped with the pressure and I started the medication right after that. I started taking Diamox 1 a day 250MG for a week uping the dosage each week until within a month I got to 4 a day. I took 4 a day until March when I went for a follow up and the fluid was WAY down. He dropped me to 3 a day then and this past Friday May 21 I went back and it is WAY down again I am down to 2 a day. The tingling was bad at first but almost totally stopped, ANY carbonated drinks taste HORRIBLE which is OK since I should not be drinking soda anyway. I do feel fatigued late in the afternoon which is also a side effect. My Neuro Opthamologist has said that I am very responsive to this medication, I have a follow up in August and may be able to totally come off the meds. For me any small issues like tingling are not really any issue when faced with possible going blind. This medication really really worked for me. Read More Read Less

I have been taking Diamox for a month now, and my headaches are all gone. At first I did have tingling in fingers and toes, but that went away. I am taking the long lasting capusal 500gm 2x a day, and at first it was hard for me to rememeber to take them, but I just set my alarm clock for the times I need to take them. I am peeing more, and I do have cotton mouth, but it is helping me lose weight at the same time.

I have been on the Diamox for about a month now, I am taking 250mg 3x a day. So far the medication has worked for me. I still get the occasional headache here and there, but so far they are manageable. The only side effects I have had are loss of appetite, tingling in my fingers and toes, and I cannot drink ANY carbonated beverage, they taste awful. My primary Dr. said to cut the pill in half, so I'm trying that starting today,to see if that helps at all.

I was on this medication when i was first diagnosed. It was not effective, I was losing my vision and I ended up getting a shunt. I had my first shunt put in 2 yrs ago that shunt malfunctioned so I got another one and now the second shunt which was installed over a year ago doesnt seem to be working completely because i recently began getting the horrible headaches again where I think my head is going to explode. my doctor put me back on diamox for the time being. It seems to work in combonation with the shunt. i do have the horrible side effects of tingling in my hands and feet, fatigue(I could sleep all day), change in taste especially with soda, decreased appetite (I have lost 12 lbs in 2 weeks). If you can deal with the side effects this medication does seem to work. My headaches are still present but less frequent and less intense. My vision is doing much better. Each person will have their own side effects so it is important to follow your doctors orders and report side effects if they occur.Read More Read Less

I began taking this for a chronic vestibular migraine condition. I had a bunch of migraine-related symptoms but no headaches--dizziness, extreme sensitivity to sound and motion, confusion, difficulty following conversations and anxiety. I slowly increased the dose to 500mg out of a possible 1000mg. Side effects--increased frequency of urination and feeling jittery/wound up. It didn't seem to be working and the doc said it's OK to quit cold turkey. Did so a few days ago and now have increased dizziness and splitting headaches right between the eyes that last for hours. Began taking nortryptaline (sp?) yesterday so hopefully that will work.Read More Read Less
