My DR. perscribed 40mg as needed for anxiety (I am anxious often). My very first use (1/2 a pill, 20mg) was a home run. It worked so good that what I used to think was impossible (speaking in front of others) is now very peaceful. My heart does not race out of my chest, thus a more relaxing life.--- I am, just recently experiancing some dizziness which is a reaction, but it might be due to aler...

Been on it for one month. Not worth the side effects. Gained 7 lbs, got my period twice after not having it for 20 months and having chest pains.

I started having anxiety about 6 mths ago, then I developed PVC's. Had to have a 24hr holter monitor. My doctor prescribed Propranolol (generic of Inderal) which is used to treat mild anxiety and irregular heart beats which PVC's are. I am so thankful for this medication. I have never taken any medication before in my life and I have only been taking this for 3 weeks, but I have had no side effects, I can sleep now, my PVC's have gone from 10 a day to 1. At first I did think I was having side effects because my anxiety made me think I was, but I was not. That is the biggest thing about taking anything when you have anxiety...you make yourself think the worst is actually happening to you! But I give Propranolol 5 stars. My doctor told me it is a "starter" beta blocker and I appreciate that because I was nervous.Read More Read Less

My shaking got worse, and more noticable, as a teenager. 25 years ago I started with 60mg of Inderal LA. 10 years later I had to increase to 90mg. 8 years ago I increased in 120mg. It looks like I will need to increase again as the shaking is becoming more obvious (especially in writing and eating with fork or spoon). This drug has been amazing from day 1 and I take every precaution to ensure I always have supply. 5 years ago, my insurance stopped providing it at a reduced cost and I had to go to the slow-release generic brand. It was aweful. I lived with obvious shaking even though I was taking the generic at the same dosage. Despite what my doctor said, it was no where near the same result as the brand name drug. My insurance co.(mail order prescrip) now supplies Inderal LA and despite the increased cost, I buy it as soon as the refill date allows. It's worth it for a better quality of life. I never want to run out as I have read about too many side effects that can hapen. My fear is that the older I get, I will have to continue upping the dosage at closer intervals until it gets to an unmanagable amount so I'm very interested in reading about long term usage in higher dosages. Fortunately I've never had a single side-effect that I know of and being a runner with low blood pressure, I'm grateful for that.Read More Read Less

I have used inderal for over 20 years, it is a god sent. It took about a month to regulate my heart beat. I use the timed release. My heart rate is much slower, I gain a little weight but lost it quickly. When my doctor prescribed it he said it was a miracle drug and I do agree with him.. it is the best thing out there.

I was on Inderal-40 when necessary for anxiety, palpitation and ET and gave good results, recently i was diagnosed with pre-hypertension, and my doctor recommended to use Inderal-40 twice daily which did regulate my BP to 111/70, after using another medicine that dropped my BP too much too fast. Now after 3-weeks I decided to stop taking Inderal, as a loud hissing sound developed in my head;(medically Tinnitus)-that started even awakening me at night, very disturbing and worrying. My doctor had an accident recently, and will see her ina weeks time for guidance.Read More Read Less

Have been using for about 2 weeks, the migraines are noticeably better, going from 3 a week to 2 a month. I have had some problems with insomnia and depression-like symptoms.

I just found out that Inderal causes tingling and numbness in the arms and legs -- my right ankle has felt funny for the last couple of days and now I know why. My memory is junk -- my blood pressure, though is low -- 120/58

I am a 59 yr old healthy female and my doc started me on this med about 3 months ago for migraines that were increasing in frequency to 2-3 times per week despite the use of the wonder drug Maxalt. I have not had one headache since I started the drug. My blood pressure and pulse seem to be unusually low such as 105/60 and 55-70. No weight gain at all. In fact because of the lack of migraines I have become more active and lost about 10 pounds.
