45 year old male...BP and cholesterol issues...My fault, not genetic...6'2" 265 pounds...Drug worked great! high-good cholesterol, low-bad cholesterol-average 130's...Wanna know why I stopped taking statins? No.1 reason-never had inflammation anywhere. Right metatarsal portion of my right foot would ache each morning until it was used for about 15 minutes of movement from no injury what so ever....

I started having pain especially in my legs and feet almost immediately after taking this drug. It was so sever that I couldn't even walk. My Dr.thought I had RA and sent me to a specialist. After x-rays and blood work showed nothing, I figured out for myself that this was just a side effect of the drug. I've stopped taking it and feeling back to my old self!

I have tried Zocor and Prevastatin with similar results, Prevastatin was worse! Bad stomach aches, muscle aches, headaches, definitely not worth pain. Now wants me to take Wechel, 6 a day, $50 for a month for something that may have same results! Odd though is that total cholesterol is 155, hdl is 41, ldl is 95. I'm diabetic but I do have a good diet with lots of fiber, grains and vegetable. This also aggravated my fibromyalgia, a pain disorder, which he acts like doesn't exist. I have specialist. Feel like two different patients, not one. Right now, not taking this!Read More Read Less

I felt great for the first month of taking the drug. After that fatigue and stomach pain/discomfort started. Into my third month and considering quiting. The side effects are now outweighing the benefits.

My cholesterol was 238, but due to family history, dr advised usage. I hate it. I'm exercising more, eating better, not losing weight. The constipation is horrible. Debating whether to quit cold turkey. Seems ridiculous to make yourself feel terrible, yet you may get to live longer. There is a big tradeoff.

Been taking generic for three weeks now. Experienced extreme fatigue, sleep disturbances, muscle pains all over, and now developed a rash. Are the drug companies trying to kill us or what?

After taking this for 4 mos. yesterday I had to go to the er. Severe leg cramps and also severe abdominal pains. The leg pain is so bad I can barely walk today. The er said to stop taking it but I'm scared to try something else.

my husband takes it and complains of fatigue (every day) and back aches and being stiff. Plus, his personality has changed. I would prefer he not take it. He may not live as long, but it would certainly be more pleasant!!

OMG!!!I thought age was coming at me full force. Before starting the medication I was fine. After starting I had no strength at all, pains everywhere. I thought I had the flu. It is just getting worst! Time to stop this medication. I feel like I am being experimented on. This is yet another medication that has bad side affects. Look out for yourself.

This is the second cholesterol med I have been on and both have terrible side effects. I have been taking this for 2 weeks now and I have severe headaches, muscle aches, chest aches, lower back achs just about every inch of my body aches. I quit yesterday and will not subject my body to any more! What good is low cholesterol when I can't walk, dance do anything without being in pain. END OF CHOLESTERO MEDICINES !!!!!!!!

It did the job for chol. and trig. but dizziness appeared (same as 3 years ago when taking Pravachol), headaches, sleep problems, joint aches. I worry that I will pass out when driving. Will stop med. and consult with doctor.

I have been taking this medication for years. At one point due to insurance pressure, my doctor switch me to Lipitor which I took for several years which resulted in severe muscle pain. My cardiologist switched me back to Pravastine and the muscle problem was greatly reduced.

I developed pain in my chest radiating up my jaws much like heart attack symtoms. Ended up in ER then a stress test which proved my heart was excellant. I discontinued with Doctor's approval. No more pain. It's taken over two months for the jaw pain to moderate.

Do not know if it helped cholesterol. In 21 days on med, experience totally disruptive sleep; terrible nightmares; 3 episodes of sleep walk w/no prior history--2 BAD falls; and at end felt joint pain of RA flaring.

Every AM I would get zapped in my ankle & pain would wake me bet. 4-5AM.I couldn't walk or exercise. No more aches just serious pain in my legs, arms, hips & neck.I stopped the pill for 4 days & was feeling better. When I started taking the pill, the pain came back worse than ever. Am stopping again & will have the Dr.change my meds. I am glad I found this website & realised there are other people hurting like me.

ABSOLUTELY CANNOT CONTINUE TAKING DUE TO BODY SORENESS AND PAIN AND INCREASING WEAKNESS. IN MY CASE, I BELIEVE STATINS TO BE LETHAL. I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW HOW LONG THIS DRUG WILL REMAIN IN MY SYSTEM.
