45 year old male...BP and cholesterol issues...My fault, not genetic...6'2" 265 pounds...Drug worked great! high-good cholesterol, low-bad cholesterol-average 130's...Wanna know why I stopped taking statins? No.1 reason-never had inflammation anywhere. Right metatarsal portion of my right foot would ache each morning until it was used for about 15 minutes of movement from no injury what so ever....

I have only been on this medication (20mg) for about 4 weeks and I have not had a blood test to recheck my cholesterol yet. That is not going to happen because I am having some bad side effects. Some muscle but mainly joint stiffness to the extend I have difficulty climbing stairs. I never had headaches before however since using this drug I started getting headaches and the frequency of them is such that I have headaches every day now and some very intense I would say similar to a migraine. I have tried cutting the pill in half and now only have a mild headache but still joint stiffness. This drug may be effective for some but not for me. I will be seeing my doctor tomorrow to get off of it. I am going to have to make diet changes to improve my cholesterol levels.Read More Read Less

I was on Prevastatin 10mg, for several years... My memory began to get really bad... I was confused, and couldn't remember small things, such as where I put something or remembering something a family member would tell me. I at one point thought it was stress, and even blamed my anti-depressants. - One day my daughter had been reviewing the side effects of Pravastatin, and told me about some adverse side effects such as memory difficulties..I was struggling thinking I was getting dementia or worse-Alzheimers!! Well low and behold I stopped taking the drug and I was back to my normal self again!!!! Now my blood work tells me that my cholesterol is high. Not sure what to do????? Read More Read Less

I began having swelling of hands and feet, pain in my joints. I thought I had injured my back and went for x rays. No problems found. I had serious pain in my back, legs, feet. I went for a follow up with my cardiologist. She wanted to give me a water pill for swelling. I told her I was not taking another pill for a problem another pill was causing. So we agreed for me to stop using. 48 hours already have less swelling. My cholesterol is in high normal range my Triglycerides are high 307 but I believe it is because of steroid injection I have been getting.I will not take anymore statins I have tried 4 with poor results or side effects. I wish I had read reviews on statins before I started them. I could have prevented some of the pain I have been in since starting these drugs. I am going to watch the foods I am eating, do a little more exercise and try some flaxseed oil and see how that helps my problems.Read More Read Less

10mg dropped my total cholesterol levels from 260 to 164 in 6 weeks. It's literally a life saver. No side effects whatsoever.

After taking 40 mg dosage daily for several years, my doctor increased it to 80 mg daily. I then became dizzy and had memory problems. I was cut back to 40 mg and the problem persisted. I could barely drive and could not remember things I should know. I stopped taking it and in 10 days I was feeling much better. I still am a bit dizzy but it gets better every day. I will never take it again.

Ease of taking, come on its a pill! Started crampping on left arm generating from elbow hand numbness and tingly, than right knee pain that generated into calf, feet hurt really bad, would have to take naproxen for pain. Then feet numbness, stopped pills left arm back to normal, pain in legs manageable now without naproxen, numbness clearing, feet no longer hurt. This pill is DEFINITLY not for me! My good cholesterol is high off the charts so I'm going with that, since these pills give you no quality to life. Who wants to be in constant pain like over used muscles that doesn't go away,or hard to turn over in bed at nightRead More Read Less

I experienced no side-effects at all, and this medication lowered my LDL cholesterol to within normal levels after taking it for a month.

Started taking this med about 1 yr ago, off and on. Started taking it regularly for about 3 months and started having severe bloating gas, back pain, ankles swelling. Nite sweats severe. Stopped med. No more pain, shortness of breath went away (I could barely walk the driveway, wheezing. Felt like I was having a heart attack one night. Feel like I'm 90 yrs. old! After reading reviews and seeing so many others with similar symptoms...I'm off that medication. Going to a new Dr. in 2 weeks. Statins ( have tried 3) are NOT for me. Better diet, exercise, and plenty of water! Read More Read Less

Have been taking for one month after trying Crestor for three months. Stopped Crestor due too severe muscle pains in my legs. Side effects with pravastatin have been stomach pain and gas belching before/after every meal, fatigue, and joint pains. Seeing doctor again in three weeks and plan to develop new plan.
