After reading many reviews about the terrible burning and cost of this medication I thought I would share some tips. I was lucky to have a very well informed eye doctor and staff. They told me to use the holder in the starter kit-refrigerate the vials so they burn much less-open the vial, use in AM-place opened vial in the holder-which holds it upright-back in the refrigerator to use again in PM. ...

I have severe dry eyes and was prescribed Restasis on two occasions. I found no difference with my dry eye. Did not do anything for me. I too have had racing heart (but I have afib, am on medication for it and assumed it was that causing it). Now I think it was Restasis. Glad I am off of it as I feel better. Using eye drops during the day and night and also Lotemax.

I have tried Restasis three separate times. No ophthalmologist has ever referred me to any other product for dry eyes. I cannot say that it is helped me at all. The astounding thing I noticed in reviewing the reviewers the gentleman that had to go to the emergency room and thought he possibly was having a heart attack related back to the time I decided to stop using Restasis. I had lightheadedness, racing heart and felt like I might pass out. I felt that it had something to do with the Restasis and after having had stinging Burning Sensations using it I just decided to stop using Restasis. Never had those symptoms again. The ophthalmologist indicated that he had never heard of the symptoms that I described. Several years later I decided to try it again but here I am still wondering about the efficacy of using it.I was diagnosed with dry eyes in both eyes but I only have one eye that bothers me not both. The left eye is far-sighted the right eye nearsighted. unfortunately the nearsighted eye gives me the most grief because that is what I use to read with. not really sure where to go with this because I question that my left eye is even dry. The Diagnosis of dry eye was made by two different ophthalmologist not in the same practice... after the amount of money it has cost many people to use this Restasis product I really do hope it does help someone.Read More Read Less

This is the poorest excuse for an eye dropper I have ever used. I squeeze and squeeze and when a drop finally comes out--PLOP--right onto my cheek. I haven't been using the drops long, but my eyes burn all day after using it. I think I'm done with it.

This drug ended with me in the emergency thinking I was having a heart attack. I took Restasis for 6 months with slight improvement for my dry eye problem. Around the beginning of the 6th month I had developed an annoying cough, nothing huge but always there. I felt weird, like I couldn't focus well. Then one night while watching TV I felt like I was slipping away or something and panicked. My heart was racing and my blood pressure was rising. I am normally a very calm person with no heart or bp problems. We raced to emergency and after a thorough check I was told everything was fine and that it was a panic attack. I've never had one in my life so I started to research Restasis and came across other people having similar reactions as me. I stopped taking Restais and within 2 weeks, I was back to my normal healthy self. No more weird feelings or foggy brain. I now use Systane gel drops at night and hydrating drops during the day. I would rather do this many times during the day then feel the way I did on Restasis. Don't forget, Restasis is cumulative so it builds up in the body over time. I hope this can help someone because I went through hell with this drug.Read More Read Less

after using it for a year, I saw no improvement. it burns every time I apply it. they fail to tell you that in the clinical trials it's only effective 15%. They only want your money.

And, in addition, eyelashes are now falling out from this drug; other Restasis patients report the same side effect. Horrible.

Great example of a totally overpriced rip off! Company likes to post a lot of lies about great savings discounts ($5 for 3 bottles) what a joke!! You will never see anything remotely close to that!! Reality is more like $550.00 for 30 days. Millionaires only please should be their slogan!!

the bottle is awful this 30 day bottle does not last 30 days. the product is great but the bottle is not designed for ease in despencing the drop hard to get one drop out of bottle. should be a better way to get the drop in the eye.

I've only been using this for a few days, but I'm usually pretty quick to know if something's working for or against me. The emulsion feels cool and pleasant to me, helps the dryness symptoms immediately, with the possibility of lasting changes a definite bonus. I did experience two quick, sharp stabbin pains at the outer edge of my left eye socket the first day, one little baby repeat of that the second day. No more adverse or even unpleasant effects since. Restasis seems as effective as Prednisolone which I had used very sparingly only for crisis mode for about a year and a half - lots of steroid guilt and it was becoming less effective lately. The prescription for Restasis was cosmically timed - or at least good luck. More good luck, it was covered by my Medicare supplement insurance, co-pay a very manageable $47.Read More Read Less

Yes, when you first put in the drops you do get a slight burning sensation but it quickly goes away and the instructions clearly state that this will happen. I have been on Restasis for about 5 yrs. and my insurance just changed. Now I realize how expensive it is. $606 per month. No longer can afford it and will be using a different product once I find one.

Iâ??ve used Restasis since Januy13. I initially started with Xiidra in November 2017 but insurance decided not to cover it in January so I switched to Restasis. Also around January I developed horrible burning sensation and pain in my throat and esophagus radiating to sinus. I was diagnosed with esophagitis and laryngitis. I was told itâ??s due to GERD but itâ??s all a guess. On the29th Iâ??m having upper GI test. But Iâ??m wondering if my problem is due to Restasis. Iâ??ll stop using it for a while to see if these drops are at faultRead More Read Less

Used restasis for a year. Complained to eye doctor that it caused burning and blurring well after the first 5 minutes. Sensitivity to light was extreme and the burning was horrible. Count me in on a class action lawsuit-this stuff is expensive crap-I have learned that there are thousands of people having the same problems and more.

Was prescribed this drug for an overly watery eye (just one) that my doctor decided was dry eye. I think now he must get kickbacks from Restasis. I tried it for 4 months, in both eyes as instructed. Always burned and caused double vision (had to close one eye to watch tv or drive). Also extreme light sensitivity. Everything cleared up when I stopped taking it and threw away about $70 worth of the tiny droppers (which you CAN use twice). Conclusion: I had a plugged tear duct (which is what I TOLD the 2 ophthalmologists I saw over 2 years). Should never have been dx Restasis in first place. Took 3 visits ($60 copay ea.) to get correct dx and non-drug treatment.Read More Read Less

Used it for 3 years with no problem until new bottle design - now it is too hard to get bottle open- impossible to get liquid out of bottle and cap doesn't stay on so air dries out the $$$$ product- please fix this.

Onset of headaches made me think I needed my glasses changed. I did but also found out about my dry eyes; my tear production was 15% of normal. That explained the headaches. I started Restasis and, after 11 years I still remember my eyeballs burning like I had soap in them. Dishsoap. Dawn. I realized the pain was in direct proportion to the extent of the dryness and I continued the self-inflicted torture. Blurry vision for a couple hours. You already know the end of the story because of the years alluded to above. I've had zero side effects except there's more wrinkles in my face than when I started. It's sad to read so many of you have not had a good experience with this medication and glad you found something else that worked. Not being facetious but if anyone has a need to donate or sell their unused, unwanted, expensive and unreturnable stash, please let me know because so far they have a monopoly on this stuff with no competition. Don't know if it's a patent thing but for a medication that, once started, must be maintained the price is simply sinful and greedy.Read More Read Less

As a frequent flyer, I learned a long time ago that liquids in any bottle other than a screw cap leak all over one’s suitcase in the reduced air pressure of a plane. Flip-tops leak. Pulse tops leak. Squeeze bottles without screw caps leak. If Allergen goes to the new packaging exclusively, I’m done. Its cost/benefit ratio is barely adequate now. A new package that dumps liquid gold all over the interior of my case is useless. Restasis alone had no impact on MGD. Combining with IPL, plugs, Avenova, Lotemax, etc. has resulted in some improvement, but far from back to normal. And of course it is impossible to allocate "credit" to any one treatment. So if the new package is adopted exclusively, I can do without Restasis.” Read More Read Less

I am been using this medication/eye drop on and off for close to 10 years. I STILL have dry irritated eyes. I am not really sure if RESTASIS even works. I am now having puffy eyes and MORE irritation as I have gotten older. I considering to stop using RESTASIS now.
