After reading many reviews about the terrible burning and cost of this medication I thought I would share some tips. I was lucky to have a very well informed eye doctor and staff. They told me to use the holder in the starter kit-refrigerate the vials so they burn much less-open the vial, use in AM-place opened vial in the holder-which holds it upright-back in the refrigerator to use again in PM. ...

I used for 6 months but the burning got worse so I discontinued...I still had to use artificial tears because of the burning...now I am dealing with chronic blepharitis...

I was diagnosed with dry eyes and prescribed Restasis. It gave me tears alright, by burning my eyes horribly, even when chilled. However it didn't help my condition in any significant way. Very disappointing. Warm, wet washcloth rubs help more.

I used this for 4 years, and I just had cataract surgery and could not use it. And I see it is perpetuating. My dry eyes are not as dry now........ not using restasis. I found that interesting.

Love it. After I used it several months twice a day, I now only need to use it once a day (my doctor approved this).

Within 4 days, I had swollen glands and throat, runny nose, sneezing. The next day I had swollen gums so bad I couldn't eat. Stopped using. The following week, it got worse, swollen face, inside of mouth, tongue as well, swelling of face led to strange headaches, or face aches. Called eye doc, they told me to go to my md, couldn't get an appt for 2 weeks, went to urgent care, was told maybe a salivary gland problem. Finally saw md, he dismissed my symptoms and prescribed blood tests, mammogram, colonoscopy, bone density, ekg, and full body skin scan. No one will even talk to me. It's been 6 weeks, I'm beginning to feel normal. I take no other meds at all, this is the only change in my life in years. Will report to Restasis and FDA, they'll probably ignore me, tooRead More Read Less

Had experiencing blurred vision at night especially and, during the day, tears running down my cheeks, especially from my left eye, during the day at very inconvenient times like during business meetings (!). If I were out in windy conditions, it would totally ruin whatever I was trying to do.

I cannot judge the effectiveness yet as treatment just started less than a month ago. However, I struggle with using the eyedropper. It does not respond to repeated attempts to release a drop. I have to hold it in place a long time for a drop in each eye and am tired and frustrated after each application..

My doctor seemed to push me to take this drug and I have had nothing but problems. I have been sick twice in the last two months and never get sick. After taking Restatis I get congested to the point where breathing is difficult. I have Back and neck pain I never had before.

It does not produce tears as it claim. One still has to use other solutions available on the counter like Refresh

I was put in this med by my eye Dr. a little over 2 weeks ago.... I have been sick for a week... with post nasal drip , acid reflux, sick stomach, sleeplessness, coughing, achy arthritis , headache.... I believe that it has robbed my Amy W system... I told my Dr that I was pre diabetic... this is spiked my sugar causing sweats and lethargy... I had to sit down and think about what I was doing that was different from my normal routine as this came on so sudden... I never put 2ans 2 together until I decided to Google Restasis and saw all the complaints... I literally have been incapacitated by this drug... I think I may file a Class Action Law Suit... I literally feel like I am dying... Stopping this Ned NOW!!!! And reporting it to the FDA.... Read More Read Less

I have dry eye syndrome secondary to Sjogren's Syndrome. After a year of being unable to wear contact, multiple expensive meds to decrease inflammation, I started Restasis. Have been on it for a year and I couldn't have been happier. I now back in contacts with no issues. Red and painful eyes are a thing of the past. Unfortunately, I can only take for another two months, as my insurance company has chosen to no longer cover this drug beginning in January. I checked out prices to see about just paying for it out of pocket but it is WAY TOO EXPENSIVE! Hoping that it more insurance companies drop coverage because of the high prices, company will be forced to lower and make it affordable.Read More Read Less

These drops are like magic for me. I've had dry eye for years - only really became a problem in the last couple of months, with eyelids sticking to at night - I was afraid to go to sleep. During the day, reflex tearing kept my eyes moist enough to function. I spent a month and a half trying out different eye drops - most were useless for night-time eyelid sticking: Refresh Tears seemed to make my eyes drier and made a thick blurry tear film. Systane Balance left crusts in my eyelashes. Soothe XP helped a little with the night-time eyelid sticking for about a month, and then suddenly quit working. No problems with Retaine MGD, but it didn't help with the sticking. Refresh PM (ointment) mostly kept my eyeballs from moving at night, so I could get a good night's sleep and then deal with the sticking in the morning, but left me with vaseline in my eyes and lashes all the next day. I saw the ophthalmologist yesterday, and had a Schirmer test of 1mm on the right and 4mm on the left (left eye wasn't completely anesthetized and had some reflex tearing) - so, severe dry eye with next to no basal tear production. I also have Hashimoto's thyroiditis (an auto-immune condition). He prescribed Restasis. I applied it last night. Got too much in the right eye and felt it immediately drain down into my nose. It has a bad taste and smell, and irritated the nasolacrimal duct and throat. No stinging eyes. For the first time in I don't know how long, I felt my eyes tearing even with my eyelids closed, and this persisted for at least an hour. I didn't even apply the Refresh PM when I went to bed, just the Retaine MGD. No waking, and no sticking! I applied it this morning, and no drainage into the nose this time. Lots of tearing and some eye irritation for about 1/2 hour, now it seems to have settled down and my eyes are moist. I may be able to get by with once a day, we'll see. Restasis contains castor oil; I wonder how much of the relief is due to the vehicle. Read More Read Less

I have been using it for a year with no problems. It has worked wonderfully! My eyes aren't as dry and I don't have the pain I had before from the inflammation and crusting. I had tried eyelid soaking and scrubbing with baby shampoo per my ophthalmologist prior, but that alone was not enough. The scrub and Restasis work together to keep eyes healthy and seeing better.

I have been using this drug for 1 month and am no longer using it due to complications with it...blurry vision, pain, headaches, tooth aches, too runny of eyes, sun sensitivity, runny nasal and heavy congestion. All of which got even worst after discontinuing it's use. I would not recommend that anyone use this. I see an eye specialist next week I will let you all know what he says!

I have been using Restasis for 5 years. I use it at night one drop each eye. It seems to have definitely stopped my dry eyes from becoming worse. So, I will keep using it. I do have waking up at night but I doubt Restasis does this. I have developed a pre-cancer below one eye on my face/cheek. Related? I don't know.

Restasis burned my eyes and made my eyes blurry and did not work as well as regular eye drops. It was also very expensive and I've talked with others who have used them and they had the same results. Don't bother with this. The Eye Doctors really should read some reviews before perscribing this drug.

Prescribed after laser, restasis burns going in and doesn't quit burning. Burns eyelids, blurs vision, causes light sensitivity, bad taste in mouth, congestion, sore eyes and more. Bad drug, AVOID.

This has got to be the worst eye drops I have ever used! It was expensive and I put the drops in and it burns immediately. I tried them for a week and I went back to my old drops.
