I am 49 years old and have not had a period for about three years. My doctor did some blood work and said I have started menopause. I was feeling horrible. I had hot flashes, anxiety, heart pounding, couldn't sleep, and was miserable. He put me on prometrium, 200 mg. daily to be taken before bed. This medication has changed my life. I feel normal again.

I started having significant memory loss and bad mood swings. Called Dr. 3 times-no help. Found problem myself.

I am 40 yrs old and I have been taking 200mg at bedtime for about 21 days. The only side effect has been very, very tender breasts. I am having trouble with low libido and fatigue. I had blood work done on my thyroid and hormones. The only problem was that I was low in progesterone so I was put on this medication. I do know that I have been sleeping like a rock since I have started taking it. I go back in 2 wks for a check up. There has been no difference in my symptoms since I started taking this. I really don't feel that it is helping.Read More Read Less

I'm using this to prevent thickening of the uterine lining. Been using 100 mg every night for 4 months. Got my period after 6 weeks. Had spotting a feel bloated for a week now. That's all I get most months if anything at all. Been borderline menopause for 4-5 years now. So, it seemed to work at first and now I'm not so sure.

I just started with this medication, on my 8th day now and is taken at bedtime. Makes me sleepy at times and on the other hand a couple of nights were sleep was seriously delayed. Those late evenings were due to over analyzing of issues on my mind. Experiencing extreme mood swings, emotional and mental, at the drop of a dime. Patients have worn very thin while on this medication could be due to the harmonal inbalance of the medication. I'll keep you posted if it changes in any way but for now my husband gets the worst of it. Not enjoying this nor is he.Read More Read Less

I too was very dizzy & very tired... Due to high risk m/c rate my doc has me taking this for the first 14 weeks of pregnancy to ensure enough hormones are there for the baby to go full term. That is our hope at least! Although, reading the label "do not take if pregnant or trying to become pregnant" make me really nervous, the Dr. assured me it was ok... I sure hope. haha!

I have only taken one dose of this medicine (to end a pro-longed menstrual cycle) so I'm not sure of the overall outcome just yet. But, I did want to warn people about why they say to take it AT BEDTIME. I was in bed when I took it but stayed awake for an hour or so watching TV. I started to feel sleepy so I got up to take out my contacts. Um, this is when the fun began. I was stumbling around the house as if I had downed a fifth of vodka. I had severly slurred speech, was running into walls, it was NOT FUN. I was basically a sleepwalking drunk. My husband had to babysit me until I fell asleep. If he had not been there, who knows what injuries I might have ended up with. Just thought I would share this. The pharmacist should REALLY, REALLY emphasize the dizziness side-effect and the fact that you should not plan on getting back up EVEN FOR A SECOND after you take the pills.Read More Read Less

Using medication to "jump start" my cycle. As my doctor said, after 10 days at 200mg it should start anytime after final dose. It started on day 4. No freaky side effects, but did make me sleepy so I was advised to take before bedtime.

I was prescribed this med to control heavy periods, and irregular, short (every 2 wks)cycles in peri-menopause. Some months it worked, most months it didn't seem to help so I have stopped using it. I had no other side effects. I am taking Provera now for the same reasons and will review it in few months. I am also considering ablation or hysterectomy.

I got a rash after 2 days on the med. did not pay attention to it and kept taking it. The rash went away for 2 days then came back BAD on day 5. I discontinued and did get my period in 2 days time, so other then the rash it worked for me.

I have a thickened uterine lining at age 51 which is not normal. I stopped having periods every month for about a year and now they are back. I need to go back to the doctor and am late in doing so. I don't think I should be bleeding this much. I've lost weight as well. I do not know if this drug is working for me. I need another ultrasound very soon.
