My doc prescribed (10mg) this to me after not having periods off/on for over 2 yrs. It has worked great. 1st month I started 16 days after 10th pill, 2nd month 7 days later 3rd month and following months 6 days later. Not only am I now having normal cycles, I have lost weight, headaches have reduced - I feel almost normal again! The first cycle was very heavy but have gotten lighter each month...

I've been on this medication for 4 days now. My doctor prescribed it to start my periods again since my period has been absent for 4 months. I was prescribed a 10 day dose, today I am expieriencing rib pain, stomach cramps and EXTREME tiredness, also a loss of appetite. Can't wait to end this medication! I'm just hoping it brings my periods back and not too heavy.

I am a 17 year old and I haven't had my period for a 10 months and it was a normal thing that I'm irregular on my periods. But as I got older I was concerned for my health and decided to get it checked. So my doctor gave me this medicine and she said to take it for 10 days and my period should come during or after those 10 days. Luckily day 11th I got it and I guess this medicine worked well for me. I was scared I'd get side effects but nope I was fine. No gain weight, loss weight, depression or anything that claims but it's different for everyone. One concern, I had MAJOR bad cramps on day 1 and day 1- after taking the pills. Just for two days though. But one of the days my stomach was hurting so bad like it was killing me for 10 hours straight and I had no idea why but the next day was when I got my period but I guess it makes sense bc I haven't had my period for almost a year so ofc this will happen. Overall this medicine worked well for me and good luck to you if you're taking it. I hope you the best!Read More Read Less

So I have noticed from other comments that most only take this medication for a few days and then stop when their cycle starts. I was prescribed this to help with the production of progesterone after having a DNC procedure and having abnormal pathology reports. I'm supposed to take this for three months straight without stopping it and then go in for another check up procedure. After reading most of the comments I am very apprehensive because it seems like just about everyone has had a bad experience with the side effects. But I guess if it'll keep me from getting full blown uterin cancer I'll give it a try. Would a histerectomy be a better alternative? I've already accepted the fact that I'll never have children years ago so it really wouldn't be that big of an issue, I guess.....well I'll give it a try and re-review it once I've taken it for a few days. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Read More Read Less

My periods were lasting 2 or more weeks, then I'd be off them for 10 days, then right back on the periods. This last period was so bad, I ended up in the ER. The ER dr prescribed these for me, so it would help slow the bleeding and the clots. It did it's job within 2 days of taking the first pill. The only thing I'm not satisfied with is the side effects. I've had mood swings, been nauseous, dizzy, depressed, irritated at dear husband and dear son for even the littlest things, bloated, having a constant migraine, fatigue, twisting stomach pains and constipation over the last week of taking this pill. To be honest, it works; but I'd've rather dealt with the bleeding and the pain than all the side effects. Good luck to those who are prescribed this. You WILL get moody.Read More Read Less

I have taken 2.5 mg of this medication in tandem with Estradiol for years. I have had no side effects, with the possible exception of an inability to lose weight (trying to lose 20 to 30 lbs for 6 months). A little tiredness, but that may just be due to getting older. I still have an occasional hot flash. Before taking the 2 medications, I had nightly night sweats, was sometimes emotional (crying & anxious) & vaginal dryness. Those menopausal symptoms have been relieved.

I started taking this for missed period (every 6 mths I'd get it). I take 10 mg x 10 days, and by day 3-5 I was so nauseated than days 7-10 I had bad stabbing pains in lower abdomen. When I got my cycle, it was a nightmare! I'd stand up and felt like I peed myself and needed to change my pad. I've taken it 3x & always the same things happening. Not pleasant, but it started my cycle after 6-7 days after stopping. Losing your quality of life demands a change in medication. Off to the doc again to try and find a progestin that isn't so troublesome to my body. I was nauseated, tired and frustrated. I have never experienced cramps, bloating or intense bleeding in my life so none of these side effects are in the norm for me. Read More Read Less

I have endometriosis and pcos and have been on these for over ten years I take 40mg a day and have had no periods in all this time, for me they are pure magic no more heavy bleeding for weeks on end and a lot less pain, I do worry about the long term use of these though and I think I may be going through the menopause but am very reluctant to do anything about it as I don't want them to take me off of them I do not want to experience the pain I used to go through.

I used this drug to stop Uterine bleeding because my period lasted 3 weeks. I then found out my uterine wall was too thick. My doctor put me back on this drug for 13 days, but I had to stop after day 12 due inability to breathe due to increased fluid in lungs, congestion, dizziness, and constipation.

For over a year I was having a week off bleeding, then a week on. After some in depth testing my Dr determined I was making one hormone but not the counterbalancing one. I can't remember what they were. Anyway, I began taking this medicine for the first 14 days of each month and then a week later I would cycle. Worked flawlessly for 7 months. However this month I've been bleeding for over a week during the time I'm taking the med. have an appt scheduled to see if I up the dose or if we need to look at something else. Read More Read Less

I had really heavy periods and found out my cervix lining is thickened. He did a biopsy and scraped my cervix to get all he could without damaging my insides. So I’m taking these meds to shed any excess lining he said after this I should start a normal period. so crossing my fingers this works! I have to take this pill for 10 days . I started taking it everyday at 12 noon and I am on day 6. The first day I took this pill at 12 noon and within 20 minutes I started my period. The next day I stopped bleeding and had discharge. It didn’t burn or itch but freaked me out. So the 3rd day I didn’t bleed but I had a really bad headache that last for hours, I was nauseous, I felt the need to vomit, I was really hot, started to randomly sweating and I was tired. This happen right after I took the pill at noon and this lasted all night. On this day I had swelling in my fingers. I had to take off my ring because it was so tight. Saturday I told my mom I was dizzy & nauseous and she suggested I should just rest. So I slept about 4 to 5 hours and when I woke up I felt refreshed but I did start bleeding again but I was so moody! I was the biggest B to my boyfriend. I was looking for a fight, everything he said irritated me and we argued all day. I was depressed. ( I feel terrible for my boyfriend) Saturday I was bleeding. I was worried because the last time I bled taking this pill was the first day. Since this pill made me feel sick I took it the next day and took a nap right after so I wouldn’t feel sick. Worked! So today which is Monday is my day 6. took my pill an 12 noon and I started bleeding clots smaller that a golf ball which is ok with me because I’m use to bleeding softball clots and I have really bad cramps. I finally used a tampon which I didn’t want to do because I wanted to get everything out. I’m praying this works and I can have babies. My biggest fear is not being able to be a mother. Hopefully this works for me to have normal period and praying for you 2Read More Read Less

I started taking this to start my period. I struggle with infertility and have never had normal periods. My husband and I are trying to get pregnant again so that's why I started this. I took it last month and after 2 days my period started, I had a slight upset stomach from it but wasn't to bad. This month I was taking it for 5 days (of a 10 day prescription) then I got my period. However by day 2 my stomach was very upset, felt like someone was twisting my insides. By days 3,4,5 it was just worse. Finally I got my period so I could stop taking the pills. But on top of getting my period I also got diarrhea on day 2 of my period, I don't know if this is a pill side effect or a period side effect or what's going on but it's not been a fun week. I was having heavy bleeding after being in menopause for 2 years. GYN prescribed in order for her to be able to perform a D&C for biopsy as she could not do due to amount of bleeding. It has slowed bleeding to a minimum but not stopped it. Will see what outcome of D&C states. But it has been helpful. It is better than bleeding like I was.
