I dont fall alseep right away and feel drunk. Last Night I apparently fully groomed my dog, had sex with my husband and made a phone call at 1am and have no memory of these events. Other than that I sleep great! Just be careful and have someone there to make sure you dont drive or leave the house. I hide my keys just in case!

I have been taking Zolpidem for 8 months now. I am completely satisfied with this medication. I take it before bed and get to sleep within 15-20 minutes. I stay asleep for hours. The only problem is I am usually tired off and on the next day and do not always feel refreshed when I wake up. Sometimes I would have hallucinations and would feel like the room was spinning or turning into different shapes. Other than the hallucinations on occasion. Zolpidem has been a good sleep medication for me. I do recommend this medication not to just anyone. But to those who have chronic sleeping problems. Read More Read Less

I've done very well with Ambien and now the generic. I have OCD and often find it difficult to fall asleep as my mind races and worries. With this medication I usually fall asleep within 30 minutes. I take it 1-2 times per week on average. Two things: 1. make sure you have an empty or near empty stomach (If I have a full stomach the medication does nothing). and... 2. make sure you're in bed (if I'm up and still getting ready for bed I've found I can push through it. If I push through the first hour after taking it it's basically not going to work.) Also, I prefer the regular over Ambien CR. With the CR I don't feel it puts me to sleep as well and though it does seem to help me stay asleep, too often it feels that it hangs over into the next day. Read More Read Less

I have always been a stay up all night person (backwards I guess) so I got a thrid shift job and I don't need anything when I work but when I'm off I do have to take something, if I wanna sleep.I got laid off from my job for a couple of months (great more sleppless nights) and after a couple of weeks 10mg does not work at all and I had terrible memory loss which is scary.. my husband said I was standing up kicking him one night and I don't remember it and I have also had bad halucinations. I would rather just get some sleep without all of that. It's scary. So I'm back to over the counter meds for now.Read More Read Less

Watch out with this medication. I have been taking 10 mg of zolpidem for over 4 months now. I sleep like a baby. But... Soon after I take it I eat and don't know I am eating. Last night my daugter told me I was eating with my eyes closed. I see wrappers in the garbage the next day and don't remember eating. It was said I get zombie like at times. I tried to stop but couldn't sleep and when I drifted off I had nightmares. I have gained weight as a result of the eating. Who knows what else goes on. Read More Read Less

As I write this I have taken my dose of Zolpidem over two hours ago and am still awake. This is not an infrequent occurrence. When I do fall asleep I wake up two to three times during the night. The most effective method for me is to skip a night and then take the medication. For me this means no sleep at all and I am so tired that probably a sugar pill would work. I have had hallucinations on this medication and vivid thought patterns while trying to sleep. What a life. How I envy others who can sleep. Read More Read Less

I take Ambien occaisonally when I need to. This med works great but you need to make sure you have an empty stomach before taking it. If you have food in your stomach, it does not work effectively! Have had a few of the normal side-effects but they have subsided after taking this for about 8 years. Mind you I don't take it every night. If you think you are sleep walking or doing any activity while "blacked-out" tell your spouse or a friend to watch you when you take it. If anything else tell your doctor right away. This medication works well but please read the information on it or do a google search on Zolpidem or Ambien and read what it says.Read More Read Less

Hi all, i'm suffering from chronic pain due to a back injury in 06. I take Oxy 40mg/2 a day, lyrica 75mg/ 2 a day, effexor-XR 75mg and zolpidem (AKA Stilnox in Australia). Due to the drugs I take, I require Zolpidem to sleep. This medication is very effective in getting me to sleep, but long term use it becomes less effective as other reviews have also commented. A suggestion would be to use for 14 days, then change to another sleeping tablet such as temazepam or similar for 5 days, then go back to Zolpidem. I find by doing this, it works great. A side effect that I have noticed using long term 2> yrs is that I find during the day at work around 1200-1300 I am very tired. I have also noticed some mild short term memory loss and no recall of events 1-2hrs the night before. All in all, I love this drug. Very effective for short term sleep problems but unfortunately in Australia there has been wide negative media coverage due to idiots abusing drug, and as a result Dr's hesitation in perscribing. I am sure this is the case all over the world due to Heath Ledger etc... Take care all. Sleep tight!!! Read More Read Less

I have ad insomnia for over 15 years and I have gone through a dozen over the counter sleep aids. I finally decided to use this drug and it worked GREAT. I get 8+ hours of sleep a night and I do not wake up once! I used to toss & turn all night long and wake up feeling extremely tired. I have hallucinated a few times, and I tend to be cranky/have memory loss in the mornings though.
