I only take 2.5 mg to help me get to sleep every night. Have been taking Zolpidem for about 4 years on a regular basis and it works well for me with no side effects. I do worry about the long-term use, but I only take 2.5 mg.

I have taken this drug off and on for a couple of years. Lately, have had trouble waking up in morning after 10 - 12 hours. Also my bird is acting funny like I am scaring him. Have gained a lot of weight because I eat without knowing about it and have conversations with my husband and do not remember. If I drink alcohol, it is worse. Need to stop this drug. Also, am tired all of the time and my memory is terrible during the day as well as at night.

Fine going to sleep using the first couple of years. However, began doing things I never knew I did until told. Total memory loss with inability to retrieve after days of trying. In process of stopping use.

I had to take at least 3 days for it to work and they still have not worked so I think it's a manufacturer so I'm going to call the pharmacy and see what they can do

When I first began taking ambien it worked great. But the body builds up a tolerance and until 2012-13 I was able to take what worked for me.Insurance even paid for it.It was also the real thing; not generic. I took 20-22.5 milligrams total at night; 12.5 cr and I would wake up after 4hrs and took the 10 mg. I slept like a baby and felt rested when I woke up. I need 7-8 hrs. of sleep or I just don't function well. I took it when I was in the bed with the bedroom door closed.Didn't do weird things. Then came generics which varied with effectiveness. Also laws that made me appear to be a criminal just because I needed the dose I was used to. Now; had to go with the low dose of 10 mg. My primary care of 25 years died a few months ago so I'm trying to find a new primary. Some docs wont prescribe it at all. They want you on antidepressants and weird drugs with all kinds of side effects. Of course they don't have insomnia.I am weening myself off now very slowly and with the help of trazadone. I hate the hangover effect and the length of time it stays with me. But I am getting off of ambien eventually and forever. I am going to try the amino acid GABA and tryptophan. I do not enjoy feeling like a criminal and going without sleep. It has been a nightmare. I would recommend not starting ambien because of my experiences. Read More Read Less

this is generic Ambien. I how been on the generic a long time. I if the effectiveness of the medication differs greatly from batch to batch. Sometimes they work well, sometimes don't work at all. NEED MORE STRINGENT QUALITY CONTROL.. Generics drugs aren't just cheaper, but also risker.

The medication itself work great. It's the dependency of it that makes a huge difference. I went through serious withdrawals coming off of it. Works great but not for long term.

I sleep for 3 hrs then I'm wide awake!! I take Melatonin with it, then when I wake up taking 2 more Melatonin to go back to sleep. I'm gonna try taking half when I go to sleep then when I wake up take the other half, I read where someone is doing that. I really need 2 Zolpidem a night. But Dr says no.

It only works for about 4 hours, 10mg, so I sometimes break it in half, but I must warn, when I used to hear people did weird things on it, I thought, "no way", but I have been told I once, after I was sleeping had been heard talking loudly on the phone, as if in conversation with someone for about 10 minutes. I do not recall this AT ALL! I also think I once drove somewhere while on it, and I do not remember this either. So while I need it to sleep, if you are even prone to sleepwalking, I would be careful. Hide keys, phone, have people around. This is no joke. I really had it happened, and it scared me to death, but what alt? No sleep? Be just very careful while on it. Read More Read Less

This version is the worst. There are different versions of the generic that work much better. As I write this, it's 4am and I'm still waiting to fall asleep.

I have taken other generic ambien w/o problems. This is the worst I have ever taken. I need twice as much and it takes hours to take effect. Then it only lasts approximately 3 hours tops. A sample should be sent for quality control. I am returning mine to the pharmacist tomorrow. This should be pulled from the market (this batch, not Ambien itself).
