I had a bad case of bronchitis and was on antibiotics and steriod inhalers. I got a bad case of thrush all over my tongue, mouth, throat and it was on my vocal cords...the ENT gave me DIFULUCAN for 5 days and 14 days of the Nistatin. It cleared it up. ALSO a really good tip that my old ENT gave me as I had this once before from a steroid inhaler...HE TOLD me to mix 50/50 of the mouthwash CEPACO...

This medicine made my daughter's stomach hurt really bad and the taste and texture was horrible. She got it from dental work, or birth control pills. Taking other med with it and she had to stop and now it seems it is spreading even more. There has to be some kind of other solution to this horrible smelling, and tasting medicine. It may work for some but not for her! Gross!

After surgery I developed Thrush. Not knowing what it was I let it go till I could hardly swallow. I kept choking. First I was put on Fluconazole. 15 days worth. When I went back to the surgeon he put me on Nystain also. It's been 10 days and I've finished the Fluconazole and I still use the Nystatin. I got the liquid and the taste isn't bad. I notice some problem with my taste buds also. However, the dry mouth, white tongue, and choking were brfore any of these meds so that must be caused by the thrush. Worst infection I ever experienced! Still hoping my taste buds will come back.Read More Read Less

When my grandson, four months old, needed this medicine, he would have crying fits unlike he has had before. Thrush gone quit using the med and the fits stops also. (may have quit to soon) He has to take the med again, the fits are back! My granddaughter one month old, also is taking the med and she too is having painful fits. We have to find something else!

My doctor told me the medication will work much better if you follow a candidia diet which you can find on line. The fungus feeds on sugars. So a low/no sugar or carbohydrate diet and high fiber will help cleanse the fungus from your intenatinal track which starts with your mouth down to your. It grows all through the intestines. So if you don't swallow the medicine it can't get down there. If you have it in your mouth it propably means you have every where. It takes time to kill something that has been growing for years. Just because we can see it doesn't it's not there. It effects your whole digestinal track. Clean up your diet!!Read More Read Less

I've used this for two days and have not noticed an improvement. My doctor prescribed "Magic Mouthwash" for my persistent sore throat. She did not say that I have thrush but I suspect that I might. However, I gag when I try to gargle with it straight so have had to dilute it with water. I don't know if it will help that way.

I use Advair 250/50 and have been using it for four years. Recently, my tongue has been very irritated, and some discoloration has appeared further back on my tongue, while the papillae near the tip have become noticeably enlarged. Everything tastes spicy, and i have to suck on ice cubes to placate the pain. I was prescribed Nystatin oral suspension, and have been using it for about two months. However, as difficult as it has been to stomach, it has had very little effect on my tongue. How long do I have to take this medicine before I can enjoy food again?!Read More Read Less

I developed thrush on my tongue from using Nicorette Gum after I quit smoking. I admit that I probably overdid it with the gum. I didn't know what was going on. Talk about painful! So I wised up and went to my doctor about a week later. I was first presribed Nystatin Oral Rinse which put the trush in check but did not clear up my problem. After another 10 days I went back to my doctor. Now I am continuing to use the Nystatin and taking Fluconazole 150mg. I am to do this for 7 days. I am on day 2 and I have already seen much improvement. So in my case the Nystatin wasn't enough to cure the thrush - it only stopped the spread of this nasty fungus. I ended up having to go to something stronger (Fluconazole) to start knocking it out. The Pharmcist tells me that taking Fluconazole Tablets for 7 days is unusual. Normally they dispense only 1 or 2 tablets. It stays in your system for about 4 days and can be hard on your liver. I am healthy and not too concerned about liver problems. I am just happy to finally be getting rid of this fungus.Read More Read Less

This is for all patients that have had to take this drug for thrush. I have discovered that I have Celic Disease. Gluten sensitive inviduals have damaged small intestine. The disease is also clasified as a disease of themalabsorption because nutrients are not abosrbed. It is a genetice disease, meaning it runs in families. The disease is triggered-or becomes active for the first time-after surgery, pregnancy, childbirth, viral infection, or severe emotional stress!

I started taking this medicine after having a bad taste in my mouth for 4 months or more. I had a tooth removed and I am a diabetic. I hope this medicine works, and I can again taste pure water. This is the second day on the medicine and I am not sure how long to stay on it?

I was on high doses of antibiotics for many weeks due to an abdominal infection and got thrush from all of them. My doctor prescribed this medicine for me and after two doses I was in the hospital because I could not stop vomiting and I had severe diarrhea every few minutes.

I am taking this med for oral thrush (swish and swallow) following a week of antibiotics (Cipro and Flagyl). Only my tongue is affected and I never had pain, just a white tongue. After what I went thru with the antibiotics for an intestional bacterial infection, this med is a breeze. A little nausea and loose stools but I don't find the taste too unpleasant. I've been on it five days and just started noticing a reduction in the white of my tongue. Two days to go. Hey, if it's working and getting me back to normal, I'm thrilled. Read More Read Less
