This is day 9 of being smoke free. This stuff is amazing! I did a lot of research on this drug and was terrified by all the side effects. I take it with food as everyone advised and I am fine. The dreams are ususally really amusing and can be remembered vividly upon waking. One thing I did as I am 125 pounds and can be sensitive to drugs is that I would break the starter pills in half and take par...

This is the first time we know of that aggression/violence has been clearly documented as a side effect in a peer reviewed scientific journal. This raises the question of whether (Chantix) is suitable for use in the military, by police and others who are already in stress situations. One key characteristic of these events is uncontrollable rage. Not a good side effect for people paid to carry guns...

Cravings are easier to control but still there at week 2. 12 years, and never gone this long without a cig. Im actually really proud of me! Tried everything else in the past. gum, patch, herbal treatments, etc. No bad side effects at all for me personally. Wild dreams, Mild insomnia (normal for me anyways) and mild headache when i started, and with each dose increase. but usually lasted only half a day. eating mints, and Walking daily too though to replace the habbit, and hopefully keep my energy levels up. so far so good. Been really happy so far!Read More Read Less

I was able to quit smoking in a week, and had very little cravings. Nausea was an issue but it was resolved by eatting prior to taking the drug.

I've smoked for over 25 years and tried to quit six times prior with no success. Since finding Chantix this has been by far the best treatment for me. The only side affects I've had are some periods of constipation and Wild Dreams, the dreams are like going to the movies every night for me. I'm on my sixth week and have not had any craving's or desire for a smoke. It flat out works..

Chantix was a wonder drug for me. It was a little scary how well it controlled my cravings to smoke. I told my husband it was like brain-washing. The only side effect I had was nausea, which was alleviated if I ate before I took the medication. I would recommend it to anyone.

I was able to quit after smoking for over 35 years. However, I only needed to take the drug for one month and four months after stopping, I still have night terrors. I wake up every 15 to 60 minutes all night long with awful dreams. I have occassional cravings for a cigarette, but have not had one. It does work.

I quit smoking after 40yrs. Although the withdrawal from the Nicotine was and is bad. I'm glad to be away from that dirty drug. But-The chantix. Is a powerful drug. The Headaches I get (I never had them) are the blinding type. They are getting fewer and not as severe. The sleep deprivation and weird dreams when I do sleep is a problem. I will quit after my 12 weeks and I hope that I will feel good and not smoke. I wish I knew of a safer way to go, but the smoking habit is a crime to myself. It took a TIA to get me here.Read More Read Less

while this drug helps you quit smoking, which is so very vital to your health, the withdrawal of the drug feels as though you may die from it. bone aches, swollen joints, so tired that you cannot fuction on a daily basis. it also changes your taste buds. fresh clean water tastes like soured grapefruit juice. coffee taste burnt. both my husband and i had different but just as dramtic side effects which we are still going through. he stopped the drug on july 3 2007 and is still having problems. i stopped less that two weeks ago and have been so ill i cannot funtion. interesting fact....this drug works at it's own pace. with my husband it kicked in within two weeks and with me...2 months. but you have to hang in there. the most success is when you continue the drug for 3 months after you have stopped the smoking...which is what i did. i called the drug company to tell them all the side effects... they tell me this will all pass. well.... i hope so. now......the best and greatest of news.... provided i live through the withdrawal of this drug..........IT WORKS. i smoked 3 packs for 41 one years....NOTHING WORKED FOR ME. this did. After 25 years of smoking, I had no idea I could quit without feeling crabby all of the time. Of course your intent to quit needs to be part of the equation.

Starting with the 3rd day I had a continuous headache bad enough that it interrupted my life. I felt fevered and had trouble concentrating. When I started the second week ( mg twice a day) within 20 min I had the worst headache of my life, I couldn't see and couldn't talk. My pharmacist took me off Chantix. Now I still smoke and am $97 poorer. Very disappointed.

It works if you want to quit smoking. I haven't wanted one at all really. But the medicine makes my mind "foggy", I have trouble concentrating where before chantix I didn't.

I quit smoking after taking Chantix for only 3 days. Although, I have experienced intense cravings for a cigarette during stress, I've managed to not smoke by using deep breathing exercises. Also, I've experienced moments of nausea after taking a dose of chantix, overall I'm satisfied that I no longer desire to smoke after a month of taking it as prescribed. By the way, I had smoked for 20 years, up to a pack a day!
