I used Ortho Evra for years, had to switch because new insurance wouldn't cover it. Until the generic came out. then I switched back. I see bad reviews, but I don't have a bad review for this medication. It can take a body 3 months to adjust to birth control. Generic's inactive ingredients are slightly different than the brand, so that probably accounts for many people's bad side effects. My a...

Like others, Xulane showed up unexpectedly at my front door when my mail order came in one month instead of Ortho Evra. For the first month it appeared to be a decent patch. The second month went okay as well it seemed. Side note: the Xulane patch does not re-stick at all once it peels off even just the tiniest bit. Ortho Evra does stick back on. When I put on my first patch for the start of the t...

So I have been using this for only 4 days, I was on orthoevra for a year before switching to this generic. The reviews scared me tremendously, there was nothing nice said, which was probably because noone with a nice review thinka to post it online. So here is some positive words. So everyone says this patcj doesnt stick at all, I am very active and I swim often. Its all about placement. I wear mine in my pupic hair lone line ( I shave, not wax) so my hair grows under the patch. I have swam every day for extended amounts of time woth the patch on, I have showered, I have had sex, I have worked out.... all without the patch falling off or starting to unstick. All the edges are fine, its not rippling. Next thing, I have had no horrible side effects, my only one this far is some break through spoting on the second and third daywhi h has gone away. Ill write another review at the end of the month. But as for now everything is fine. Read More Read Less

2 weeks of use- This patch comes off too easily and experienced side effects: mainly bloating/ gas, diarrhea, dizziness and swing with blood sugar. None of which I had with ortho evra patch. I cannot tolerate these side effects with my current medical problems and will have to discuss with my dr. Very disappointed!

I've been on Ortho-Evra for 9 years then w/o my knowledge I was switched to Xulane two months ago. Each month I had a patch come off once in the shower the other wouldn't even stick right out of the box. In the 2 months I've gained 6 pounds, have missed 2 cycles and have started experiencing acne.

I have been on every type of birth control and my doctor finally switched me to this patch. I have never been on Ortho evra but the reviews make me want to try and switch. This patch has been nothing but trouble, it does not stick and it's just irrating! I would not suggest this patch at all especially if you have a choice.

As mentioned like the others before me, I had the ortho evra and had no problems with it sticking. This new generic patch does not stick at all times. I wonder how it can be effective if it comes off half way while I'm in the shower, and then I have to stick it back on...my question is has anyone got pregnant in spite of the "non sticky situation"? I'm paranoid and wondering if I should switch to something else. The patch has been the best thing for me and I would hate to change. I wonder if the manufacture is working on the solution, working out the bugs???Read More Read Less

I was switched over from the ortha evra patch to Xulane. I have to say I am not impressed. For the last 3 weeks i have felt abnormally exhausted. I have no desire to eat anything including my favorite foods. I have these god awful mood swings that make me not want to be around anyone. Those were my side effects from switching. The biggest problem was the patch would not adhere correctly to my skin. It was constantly peeling and needing to be reinforced (which youre not suppose to do). The size of the patch was nice but it just does not work well for me. This week i was put back on ortha evra and im hoping the switch helps.Read More Read Less

I have been on original Ortho Evra for years and am very upset that my regular pharmacy is no longer carrying the original form. The new patch does not stick. I do not feel well, out of sorts. I understand generics are supposed to be very very similar and have the same results, but not the case here. This generic is no equal, or even half as effective. If it does not stay on, how can it work? Not the same size nor same percentage of drugs either. I hope that this is reviewed and taken off the market. I will pay ouT of pocket if need be, but will not use this. I plan on contacting my pharmacy headquarters and Ortha Evra directly so that I do not have to take this awful substitute.Besides the spotting, stomach pain and fact the patch will not stay on I am also incredibly irritable. Time on Ortho Vera 8 yrs, 0 problems. Time on Xulane 2 months and to many problems to count.Read More Read Less

If you plan on switching to this generic... RECONSIDER. granted it is free for most plans, but I have been on orthro Vera for almost 3 years- when the pharmacist said they had a new generic I questioned it to make sure the effectiveness would be the same... The first one fell off when I went in our pool... Replaced but still had spotting, had to pay for an extra and that also partially came off while wading in a pool a week later. Please note I sanitize my skin with rubbing alcohol prior to application. Naturally the spotting has been worse now. Please beware of this. My brother is a pharmacist and he recommends avoiding this after the in effectiveness it has caused. Read More Read Less

I think so far, I will be the only one who will say I like it. Ive never been on the ortho patch, so I cant say if the other is better or not. But I have used the implant in my arm, iuds, countless different types of pills and this one is by far my favorite. Ive had it for a little over a month now and I dont have the horrible mood swings like I usually did with my others and I actually have no problems with the adhesive, I work out daily and shower daily and its there.

If you are switching from the Ortho Evra you will notice a major problems with this new product - you'll have your period without end. The chemicals don't absorb as fast because it's a smaller patch and so you're left spotting almost every single day of the month and it's absolutely horrible. Stick with the Ortho Evra , my insurance will only cover the generic now but I'm going to pay more just so I don't have to have my period for a month!

I was forced to switch after new health laws passed which made it possible for me to not have to pay a co pay. However, this medication made me tired, hungry all the time, weight gain, headaches, vaginal dryness.

I HATE IT. I have been on it for 2 months and EVERY time I shower it comes off!! Im scared to take a bath or go swimming. Not to mention I break out, can't wear it where something will touch it or it will roll, it has tacky writing on it and forget bending over because it wrinkles up and sticks to its self like a piece of tape. I've had bandaids that stick better. I didnt have any of these problems with ortho evra. It got two stars because it is smaller.. but I'm not sure its a good thing sinse it has a lower dosage already.. Read More Read Less

Falls off super easily. I tried to give it a chance and in the first week of taking the medication I used all 3 patches. These are not dependable for preventing pregnancy. Especially since they fall off easily, and its slightly difficult to notice when they've partially failed.

I was on ortho evra for almost 3 years and loved it. Last month my pharmacy gave me Xulane. Within the first day the patch fell off, then I started to break out, and I was constantly hungry and moody. Tried to give it a chance to regulate but the patches wouldn't stay on. Now if I want ortho evra, it will cost me over $100 a month, my insurance will no longer cover it because a generic is now available. I hate Xulane!!!!

Love the fact that this generic costs me $10 per month instead of $120 for the ortho evra patch. But I live in Florida and am constantly in the swimming pool. This patch keeps coming off in a salt water pool. I never had any issues with the ortho evra one and I was on that patch for over 10 years.
