When you're in a rush and hungry for a snack, what does your family reach for? Junk food might be quick, but it won't give you much energy for your day or tide you over until dinner. So here's a step-by-step guide to turn your snacking game around.

First, clear the junk from your cupboards and fridge. If it's not there you won't be tempted. Next, do some prep work.

The more you do to get healthy snacks ready ahead of time, the easier it is for your kids and you to choose them. Put them in portion-sized containers, and make them easy for kids to see and reach. Plus it helps you avoid the drive-through too.

If they're still not into healthy stuff, add a little fun to their snack time. Let them play with their food. Kids can make faces on wholegrain waffles or put together mini veggie pizzas. Jazz up those veggie sticks with fun, flavorful dips too.

Remember, it's OK to splurge sometimes, but don't refill your pantry with junk. If you don't want them to eat it don't put it in your cart. With healthy snacks fueling your day, you'll have more energy to make good choices that will keep everyone feeling their best.
