I started taking Theanine daily (100mg a day) after 2 weeks of daily panic attacks. Right away I noticed a difference. I could feel the anxiety build and then die down. Before taking the supplement I would spend 15 minutes in a full blown attack. I took it daily for 60 days. Now, I take it on days when I feel anxious or under a lot of stress. I tell everyone with anxiety to try it. There ar...

Theanine is effective for anxiety. It has taken the edge off my anxiety yet allows me to think clearly and effectively. I stopped using it once and felt the stunning difference. I am a believer.

I started taking theanine serine for tremors because the health food store was out of gaba plus. I've had familial tremors for 15 years & now I don't have to take the drugs.

I happened to come across this supplement about a month ago, was intrigued, and ordered. Been taking for about 3 weeks now and seems to be working as I feel somewhat calmer. I take one 200mg supplement that also contains 100mg Holy Basil, and 100mg GABA, daily. The bottle states taking two per day (I don't feel it's necessary, plus, I always feel it's better to start on the lower end, first). One thing, however, and I didn't realize and I thought I did my "homework on this supplement as I usually do with most things, is this supplement can interact with blood pressure medications. I take blood pressure medication; it can make your pressure lower. So far, I don't feel badly or feel lightheaded, etc. I will definitely mention this supplement to my physician at my next well care visit which is soon. Granted, they are not God, and I am a believer that sometimes you have to do what is best for your body. However, for the most part, I do trust their knowledge and advice and they have my medical history and we go from there. I feel we should do this when taking any supplement as it MAY contain SOME of the very same substances in SOME of the medications we use. This is why we must use caution when taking supplements no matter how "natural" they may appear. Overall, This supplement seems to work for me (as it has for many). I haven't been on it for very long. I also read (in different areas that one shouldn't be on this supplement for too long a period of time). Again - another caution. Again - a question we should take to out physician and one we should ask ourselves. If it seems to be helping us and our overall health is good, blood work, pressure, mental health, etc, etc., then why not take it....in moderation of course. Read More Read Less

I'm a male 48 yo who has been a diagnosed with depression for years. I've been prescribed, bupropion, cymbalta, lithium, duloxetine and nothing has had the effect of clarity and calm I experience when I take L-Theanine.

This supplement almost killed me. Caused bradycardia , a very low heart rate. I was hospitalized on heart monitors, once almost had to be resuscitated , until stabilized a week later. Never take this.

Needed help to "shut off" my thoughts and alleviate the fitful sleep pattern I was in. It seems to be helping - am now sleeping 6-7 hrs uninterrupted.

I have tried every single supplement to help me with my insomnia. Theanine has been fantastic, with no side effects. I'm 64, in great health but could not stay asleep. I still wake up often but go right back to sleep

I have been using this to stop anxiety attacks once they have started. 200mg (2 100mg chewable) is effective for my high level attacks, it kicks in within 30 minutes and lasts for a few hours after wards. It leaves an intense feeling of calm, a lot like Valium minus the drowsiness and motor skill impairment. I would not recommend it as a daily preventative, if you know you are going into a situation that causes anxiety (like the dr.s office, flying, etc) take it before hand and it will work just fine. This is a fast/short acting medicinal product, alot like "rescue" inhalers for asthma. it is not really meant to be taken every day; only when you have a problem but it is safe to take it everyday if it is needed. If you suffer from the occasional anxiety or panic attack or situational anxiety/specific phobia this medication may help. So far the only side effect i have found is that it makes me sleepy if i am sleep deprived when i take the L Theanine. * Very relaxing * non sedating * use as needed * fast acting (kicks in 20-30 minutes) * make make you sleepy if sleep deprived * may lower blood pressure * counteracts caffeine jitters but increases caffeine's ability to make you alert. I was having extreme menopausal anxiety, anger, etc. Really bad mood swings. Wanted to do the natural route...I was told about theanine by the nurse at my doctors office. As soon as I started taking I started feeling better. For the past 3 months or so while taking have had very few relapses...have felt I am finally getting my life back after almost 3 years of these issues!
