It's so sad MDs don't know a thing about this product. Reliance on antibiotics is all that's prescribed. Cranberry juice is too acidic and counter productive, even in concentrate form without sugar. This product, with just 2 doses x's 2 days showed its effectiveness in the void (clearer urine). A third day at 2 x's a day, for a total of 3 days, 2 x's a day should suffice to go onto preventive main...

Everyone should be aware that D-mannose is a sugar. Every bacteria in your gut will want to get its hands on it and chow down, potentially causing overgrowth and massive gas production. Even though it can be effective for eliminating E. Coli, also be aware that other bacteria can give UTIs that this will have no effect on. Antibiotics can sometimes be necessary. A kidney infection can kill you...

I have had recurring UTI issues for a number of years and annoying issues with dribbling. I was told it was just a part of aging, nothing to be done, etc.- but usually was cured by cranberry capsules. Eventually I found I was taking cranberry everyday. About two-three weeks ago, I had a UTI that had gotten very bad. I went through two rounds of antibiotics and it didn't help, maybe made it worse. I was at the point where I was in pain, couldn't go out, had to stay near a bathroom at all times, and primarily was just laying on a couch moaning. I researched the internet and came up with Uva-Ursi leaf as a possible remedy and went off to Whole Foods to find it. A clerk helped me find it. They had it in capsule form with echinacea and other ingredients [by Gaia], and she also pointed out the D-Mannose [by Solaray with CranActin (cranberry extract)]; she didn't know how it worked but had heard good things. I was in pain, could hardly think straight, and desperate, so I bought them both. I took the first dose in the car. In 2 hours I was out of pain; in 4 hours I was feeling like I could go out -- but I didn't. By the next day I felt such relief, I realized I had been suffering more than I knew for a long time. I am now on the 4th day -- no pain, no peeing, no dribbling, even. I've been taking both items 4x a day. I think I am ready to cut down on the dosage. I don't know which worked, if it was one or the other or both. But it worked. The Uva-Ursi is only to be used for a max of 2 weeks, so is not a maintenance product. The D-Mannose indicates it is to be taken once daily. I have had no side effects or any negative issues. I am very happy to have found this and hope everyone who suffers gets the relief that I did.Read More Read Less

Former 'herbal skeptic' now an advocate. I've suffered from post-intercourse UTIs for 30 years, tho I've managed to keep them down to about two or three a year by peeing promptly after sex. (No romantic cuddling for me!) I recently experienced my first antibiotic-resistant UTI (7 days of Bactrim plus 5 more days of Cipro). Infection returned with avengence a week later. Tried D-mannose and I'm now over-the-moon happy. Relief from symptoms (burning, strong urge to bear down, frequent urination) came within a couple of hours, but the cure took longer than some reviewers and articles have indicated (little more than a week). Here's the dosage I followed: Days 1-4, half teaspoon of powder dissolved in water every two hours (including two doses during the night!). Day 4-6, reduced d-mannose to every 4 hrs and skipped the 'night feedings'. Day 7-9, took d-mannose twice a day. Also drank lots of water and continued taking a daily cranberry tablet throughout. Although it hadn't prevented the UTI in the first place, I figured it couldn't hurt. By golly, the d-mannose certainly did work! I feel liberated. I can take d-mannose anywhere I go and I'm no longer dependent on doctors for getting a "fix" of antibiotics after I get intimate with my husband. However, you need to be certain it's a UTI and it's caused by E-coli. Otherwise, seek medical attention. You don't want this moving to your kidneys! Read More Read Less

I've suffered with so many UTI's this past year you mine as well say I've have a consistent UTI since July, 2010. Some would either go away and come right back or never fully go away. I started using D-mannose on Monday and it is now Thursday and I do not have any pain or burning sensations. From reading A LOT about this product and reviews, I found that taking Tums helps make the urine alkaline (which is what you want) and it eases an upset stomach if you are sensitive. I noticed a lot of bloating and a little constipation, but those are known side effects. I also read that you should take the D-mannose with a small (4-8oz) amount of water and then about an hr later drink abunch of water to flush out the bactera. Be careful what you are putting into your body. Staying with alkaline foods will help you a lot. Try to avoid coffee, alcohol, and sugar as these irritate a uti even more. Hope this helps. Good luck!Read More Read Less

I experienced 6 UTIs in one year (I am over 60 never had a urinary tract infection before). My chiropractor suggested D-Mannose and I have not had one since. What else is there to say.

I get UTIs. A lot. I also get them chronically. I could be good for a year and then BLAMMO, I'll get 13 in a row. My doctor always seems stumped and/or unwilling to recognize that it is impossible to function as an actual person when you feel like you are going to pee your pants every second of every day INFINITY. This most recent disturbance in the force began, and I called immediately knowing exactly what it was. My doctor was on vacation and couldn't see me until the following day (Tuedsay). I thought, "That's ok, I can handle this situation until then." So I loaded up on cranberry and vitamin C and got some AZO. I felt ok, and was doing fine in the kind of way that requires you to ignore the fact that it looks like you murdered a carrot every time you pee. So I finally see the doc. and my dip isn't really showing anything (which it never does) so off it was sent to culture. Long story short, culture would take 72 hours to come back which just happened to abut the weekend, which meant basically I was doomed to suffer until Monday. As a result I went to the health food store hellbent on taking control of my bladder. I had gone intending to buy garlic tablets, which in addition to the AZO carrot murder situation promised to make me stink. The lady there suggested D Mannose instead. I opted for the powder (ClearTract 100% D Mannose), and drank one scoop in water about 4 times a day for 4 days. Well, it is Monday and frankly I could care less when my cultures come back. I am better! I actually started to feel better right away and by the third day felt complete relief. D Mannose is a miracle, and I am kind of irritated that no one, in ALL THE YEARS I have suffered with UTIs has ever told me about it. Read More Read Less

Used this treatment a total of 5 times over the past 6 years. One time during a pregnancy, antibiotics failed to clear up a UTI totally, but this did it. When caught early, I've had one go away in *under* 2 hours when I took 3,000mg. I knew I had heard "within 24hrs", but I was shocked when I felt better so soon. Amazing. Have used pure powder and the kind with Cranberry added and can't tell a difference. I've read that it gets in your bloodstream quicker than Glucose. I've used NOW brand pure powder and Solaray capsules with CranActin. Does it really matter? This stuff WORKS! Read More Read Less

Excellent. Pain from severe bladder infection gone in two hours. Very allergic to antibiotics and cranberry tablets or juice caused severe yeast in gut. Highly recommend to everyone. I can take 4000mg a day without any problems. It has to be pure thought, not with added cranberries which disturbs the gut flora. Hope they never take it off the shelf.

After more than 25 years of 2-3 UTIs each year and trying every possible treatment and preventative measure, this is the only thing besides antibiotics that works. I have now used it to cure 2 infections without any antibiotics. The only time it didn't work was when I took only the minimum recommended dosage. The dosage recommendations on some products are not very clear or precise (for example, one serving is described as 1/2 to 1 teaspoon). For me, taking the maximum dosage has done the trick. I do not take it every day as a prophylactic. A Croatian doctor recommended it, but none of the other doctors in 25 years in the USA ever mentioned this stuff!Read More Read Less

I felt a UTI coming on. I knew the prescription and cost of the doctor visit (not a big doctor person). I visited my local health shop and was educted on D Mannose. I bought D Manniose, Cranberry capsules, and a bottle of Colodial Silver. I paid less than $80.00 for all three. My UTI was gone in less than a week (the same amount of time it would have taken for the Dr. drug to work). I still take the D Mannose (one a day) for good measure. Very satisfied customer here in Oregon.

Three days ago, I woke up with my first UTI ever. I knew exactly what it was, and I knew I didn't want to take antibiotics. After researching UTI natural remedies, I found D-Mannose, and I was encouraged to see such terrific reviews. I bought it after work, and started taking it immediately. After the second dose, I went to bed. I woke up with no abdominal pressure and only a trace of cloudy urine. I took another dose. By the time I got to work and used the restroom, my urine was totally normal, and I had zero pain during urination. For real.Read More Read Less

I used Waterfall D-Mannose (not sure if it's the same as ordinary dmannose) for my bladder and prostate infections. After 2 years of trying various antibiotics with little effect (they kept coming back), the WDM got rid of both infections. They told me great advice - to take it 6 times a day for the first 2 - 3 days and ejaculate an hour after taking the WDM once or twice a day to get rid of the prostate infection. God - what a relief to be pain free at last!...

I've had recurrent UTIs since I was a kid. When I feel a UTI coming on, I drink about 6 glasses of water and it generally goes away. Not this time. By the third day, I was still very uncomfortable. By chance, a friend recommended D-mannose. I used 1 tsp (200 mg/dose) every couple of hours along with irregular probiotics, goldenseal, vitamin D and tumeric - to decrease the inflammation and increase the good bugs. After 24 hours, the symptoms had decreased by about 70%. After 48 hours, by about 85%, and by the end of the third day, by about 90%+. I'm on the fourth day now. My symptoms are about 95% decreased, really just a slight discomfort. I have had some constipation and gas since starting D-mannose, but it might be caused by diet, I can't be sure - I do think it's the d-mannose though. Despite the constipation, there is no question I'd use d-mannose again. Antibiotics have really messed me up in the past so I avoid them unless it's the last resort. There's virtually no chance doctors will know about d-mannose to help with decision making since it can't be patented since no sales reps will come to their offices to push the product - it's really a shame. It's been a very effective product for me. I'm confident it's only a matter of a few more days before I regain my full balance.Read More Read Less

Side effects.....upset stomach and constipation. This stuff works, but take with lots of water and with food. You don't have to eat a lot, just eat something small. And yes, lots of water!!

On 9-20-10, at noon, my urine was blood-colored. I was in considerable pain due to burning from my bladder through the exit of the urethra and "going" every 5 minutes. I will not take antibiotics for a number of reasons, and I do not have medical health insurance anymore due to exhorbitantly high costs. So when I found out about D-Mannose, it seemed to be an answer to my prayers for alternative treatment fast. I bought a 120 cap bottle at 2:30 that day and took the first dose of 3 pills. I took the next dose 4 hours later and the third dose 4 hours after that just to make sure I had the maximum benefit possible as quickly as possible. By the time I took the second dose, my urine had changed from blood red back to its normal light yellow. By bedtime, the burning pain had lessened to a dull roar and by 24 hours later, it is almost completely gone. The frequency and urgency of urination has loosened from every 5 minutes to every 4 hours. I found this treatment recommendation on a website hosted by the University of Minnesota that said that D-Mannose is "ten to fifteen times more effective" than the traditional antibiotic treatment most women choose, and I believe it. Such a rapid response in only 4 hours made a believer of me. I will now continue to take D-Mannose every night on a maintenance basis of 1 cap before bedtime. I suffer of UTI for 20 years and taken tons of antibiotics. I heard from my Chiropractor about D-Mannose and it worked with the second pill. I have many questions as to how long should I take it and if the double dose is safe. But I will listen to my body and I'll do anything so I can avoid antibiotics which are affecting my nerves and muscles.
