Caution: Side effect may be severe muscle problems. This may be a dangerous drug for you. If you have muscle problems stop taking it and use CoQ10 every day, 600mg. for at least six weeks. Then 300mg per day might be enough. Stop Policosanol FOR EVER. Report it to your doctor.

So why is WebMD still claiming there is no evidence proving the effectiveness of Policosanol? I am sure that this is just an oversight on their part.

The information presented on this site is not current regarding policosanol's testing background there have been American tests that prove it's efficacy with LDL et al. Research and Read and the reviewers who left negative commentaries need to be on a natural product for at least 3 months prior to having the ability to make any educated commentary.

I started taking policosanol to reduce my cholesterol. It did help a bit with this, but the most remarkable thing I have found is that it helps keep my BP low. I take 7.5mgs of ramipril for high BP daily, yet often my BP can still be 139/90 with ramipril. The days I take ramipril with policosanol, my BP is 117/72. I know people don't associate policosanol with lower BP, but I have proved it again and again. Days I don't take it, my BP is up. Days I do take it BP os down... as simple as that !!

My bad cholesterol was about 240. Policosinol + CQ10 lowered my bad cholesterol to 143 That's almost a hundred point drop in 3 months. It raised my good cholesterol by about 15 points.

After accidentally buying multiple vitamins with 10 mg policosanol in daily tablet and taking it about a month I noticed incredible improvement in my circulation, blood pressure,no more swelling of my fingers on my right hand when I take 2 hours fitness walks, no pains in my legs ,just huge unexplainable change! The only difference I can confess is adding 10 mg of policosanol. I'm 62 and suffer with arrhythmia from birth. Hearth disease runs in my family. .SB

My LDL Cholesterol was getting higher than my doctor was comfortable with and he was starting to suggest I go on a statin drug to lower it..I was looking for a alternative therapy.....I took 2 X 10 mg Policosanol (by Biovea) a day and it had lowered my LDL by 10% when my blood was retested after 6 months.. No side effects.

My total cholesterol was about 250 while taking Simvastatin 20mg. I made a switch. I started taking Slo-Niacin 500mg. and two (2)Red Yeast Rice 600mg capsule with Policosanol 10 mg (Puritan Pride)at night. After 2 months, my total cholesterol was 148. I don't have the LDL info handy. BUT, my doctor said Slo-Niacin may be bad for my liver.

I have hereditary hypercholesteraemia with very high cholesterol levels. I starting taking Policosanol 20mg each evening and in 3 months my cholesterol levels came down significantly - have been taking ever since. No side effects. I would certainly recommend Policosanol - much better than taking Statins with unpleasant side effects.

Health Concerns brand of Polilipids reduced my cholesterol 21 points in two months. From 249 to 228. Statins caused me to have terrible joint pain. I am experimenting with alternatives.

My Dr said if I didn't change my diet and exercise to lower my cholesterol he was putting me on meds. I started taking policosanol from Swanson and within 6 months showed a 30% reduction and more after a year. Continued taking for two years with good results then stopped about a year and a half ago. My cholesterol has remained at the same reduced levels.

I am somewhat active for my age (67) cycling, golf, and walking - but had a heart attack 15 years ago. I'm nervous about long time use of Simvistatin, and am trying Policosanal.
