my blood sugar has been over 300 and sometimes up in the 500 hundreds. I read about nopal cactus on dr oz's website and started taking the 1000mg tablets a couple weeks ago. Since day 1 every morning my blood sugar has been under 200 and this morning it was 118! It hasn't been that low since 2005! I read that it doesn't start working for a couple months so if it get's any better than this maybe I can lower my meds! The bottle of tables I bought have 60 tabs and cost under 9 dollars. I'm very very happy!Read More Read Less

I HAVE MS, SEVERE PLAQUE PSORIASIS, HBP, AND ARTHRITIS. AFTER NUMEROUS PRESCRIPTIONS WITH HORRIBLE SIDE-EFFECTS I DID SOME RESEARCH ON NOPAL. ALL MY AILMENTS WERE NOTED AS BEING RELIEVED FOR THOSE USING IT.(EXCEPT THE MS) THE JOINT STIFFNESS, SPASTIC EPISODES (AND THEREFORE THE PAIN) WERE LESS INTENSE AFTER THE FIRST 2 WKS USING 2000 MG PER DAY. AFTER 4 WEEKS THE PLAQUE SKIN PATCHES BEGAN TO DISAPPEAR! I DOUBLED MY DOSE TO TWICE DAILY, I HAVE REDUCED CLONAZEPAM FROM 50 MG DAILY TO 20 MG. REDUCED LYRICA FROM 300 MG DAILY TO 100 MG PRN, WHICH IS SOME TIMESS EVERY 2-3 DAYS (AND HAS REDUCED FLUID RETENTION). I NO LONGER REQUIRE BP MEDS. THE NEUROPATHY IN LEGS AND FEET HAS IMPROVED IMMENSELY. I PAY $10 FOR 120 TABLETS. MY PHARMACY BILL HAS DROPPED FROM $400 PER MONTH TO $45! THIS "SUPPLEMENT" NEEDS TO BE RESEARCHED CLOSER HERE IN THE STATES. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT.Read More Read Less

you can eat the old paddles. In Mexico, we peal the outer skin off and eat the inside of the paddles.

I have an inherited virus Familial Mediterranean Fever. This under the name Nopal Cactus has helped more than anything I have had to control the inflammatory outbursts causing the body cavity to inflame and fever I suffer and stopped the kidney stone manufacturing. What a life saver since the only medication that was recommended for this disorder went from .22 a pill to $5 and must be taken twice a day.

I have inflamation in my feet. The pain was unbearable. My friend sent me a bottled of Nopalea (commercial Juice) It seemed to help, but was expensive and a MML propuct. I researched how to make my own juice and do so. It saves $ and I know exactly what I am ingesting. I have no side effects and after one month my pain from inflamation is decreased. I am diabetic and notice no drop in my blood sugar levels to date.

I have never written a review before this. This prickly pear stuff works miracles for many of my ailments. I started taking this as a stab in the dark. I was so bloated after eating, it was painful. I tried many things but surprisingly this prickly pear took the bloat out. Not only that but I've had back pain usually at night from a car accident and also that is gone. Foggihead, gone. Honestly so many other benefits, like I am moving faster and easier. I was also a bit on the sad-weepy side lately, just miserable. Nothing was getting out of this funk. I couldn't concentrate on anything, couldn't stay on task. My spirits are now lifted and I feel like dancing again for no apparent reason. I am getting things done. I don't know if all this is a coincidence since I've been taking this but it seems like a miracle to me. It really truly shocked me. I would totally do a commercial for this stuff. It's rare that i go online to post reviews and things like this but i felt the need to share my story because i feel this fruit is definitely something that can help people. I have been suffering from an inflammatory eye condition called episcleritis--a condition with normally unknown causes which makes your eye all red and sore. It's not the most serious condition but it is recurring and very annoying/uncomfortable--and people always think you have pink eye (or worse). The only available treatments are NSAIDS like ibuprofen or steroid eye drops, neither of which are good for you in the long run, not to mention they don't always work well. Being Mexican I'm familiar with prickly pears (we call them tunas) but only ate them once in a long while. Recently I was looking up anti-inflammatory foods online, trying to find some kind of food or supplement to take besides ibuprofen.I came across some websites that mentioned prickly pears' anti-inflammatory properties and since I'm familiar with the fruit I decided to eat some when my eye started flaring up. Lo and behold the inflammation subsided and I was back to normal within a day or two. I thought maybe it was a coincidence but the next two times my eye started flaring up I ate three or four of the fruits per day and again, the same positive result. It doesn't completely stop me from getting it but it has turned something that would irritate me and make me look like Darth Maul for a week or more to something that is manageable and I can nip it in the bud within a couple of days. So if any other people out there have this condition I suggest you give prickly pears a try. Best to buy them at Mexican markets because I hear some health food stores charge outrageous prices for them. I get them for 99 cents for 2 lbs.Read More Read Less

I had a severe gastrointestinal problem. Was unable to eat a full meal in 10 months. after eating the actual leaf itself, I ate my first meal just 2 days later. I purchased the leaves from a Farmer's Market.

I have both RA & Osteoarthritis. I noticed less stiffness and more energy after only 2 weeks. I am hoping it will lower my cholesterol. I drink 4-5 ounces of pure prickly pear juice (nopal 100) mixed with my morning juice. I am so happy with it!!!!

It was recommended to me to stabilize my blood sugar. It didn't seem to be affective for that. It did lower my cholesterol dramatically. Enough so, my doctor stopped nagging me about it.

You do have to be carefully because it can stop the absorption of your another medications. You have to wait two hours after you have taken the prickly pear before you can take your other medications or wait two hours after you take your other medications. The name brand that I take is Solaray, it cost around $11.00 for 100 Capsules. I'm still take my medications for the fibromyalgia, reheumatoid arthritis, and herniated disc in my lower back. I just use the Prickly Pear as a supplement. The Prickly Pear is suppose to reduce the inflammation in your body. I hope this helps somebody.Read More Read Less
