An alcohol use disorder is a treatable disease, but how do you know if you might have one? Talk to your doctor if you have any of these symptoms-- you have more drinks than you planned on;
you've felt a strong craving for alcohol; your drinking
or hangovers interfere with your work or personal life;
you've gotten into risky situations while drinking, such as driving or having unprotected sex;
it takes more alcohol than it used to for you to feel the effects that you like;
you've tried to cut back or stop drinking more than once, but couldn't; when you did try
to stop, you felt nauseated, shaking, restless, anxious, or depressed.
These aren't the only symptoms of an alcohol use disorder. See your doctor to get diagnosed if your drinking habits concern you or your loved ones.
