Sylvia Davis

Sylvia Davis

Sylvia Davis has more than 20 years of experience as a health editor, writer, and content strategist. She joined WebMD in 2000 and discovered a career that combined three of her major obsessions: health care, technology, and journalism.

Davis was previously an editor at several daily newspapers, including the Philadelphia Inquirer and Charlotte Observer, working on everything from prep sports to presidential elections.

Davis's interest in health care was born out of years of dinner-table conversation with her mother, who worked for more than 4 decades at Atlanta’s Grady Memorial Hospital. Her curiosity about digital journalism was sparked during a mid-career Knight Foundation fellowship at the University of North Carolina.

A longtime resident of intown Atlanta, Davis holds a journalism degree from the University of Georgia. She and her husband have two grown sons, three cats, a dog, a turtle, and a 1968 Dodge pickup truck.
