But it doesn't have to be that way. Making some simple changes can make a big difference in your child's life and yours. You're not perfect, so don't try to be. Accepting your ADHD challenges instead of judging or blaming yourself is the first step in your journey to happy parenting. Plan your meals. Prep and time management can be difficult with ADHD. So plan your dinner menus and grab your groceries on the weekend. That way, during the week when the kids ask, what's for dinner, you will be ready. Control the clutter. Clutter can make life feel out of control. Cut back on the number of toys the kids are allowed to have in the house. Get the whole family in the habit of picking up. Get some sleep. You need energy to keep up with kids, so sneak in a nap when they nap or try to go to bed within a few hours of them to get on the same sleep schedule. Keep a routine. Kids thrive best on a routine, and so do people with ADHD. Set a schedule and stick to it. Even the best parents could use a little help. Personal ADHD coaching can be effective in managing your symptoms. And remember, you're not alone. Be open about your ADHD issues and work together as a family to solve them.
