  • Precaution: LIMITED DATA SUGGEST NO ADVERSE EFFECTS ON INFANT

    • If you are an adult over 60

  • management or monitoring precaution: General-Elderly may be more sensitive to l-thyroxine. Start at lower dose. Cardiovascular-Use caution and start at lower doses in those patients with cardiac disease, particularly atrial fibrillation.

    • Pediatric use

  • Severe Precaution: Closely monitor infant during the first 2 weeks of therapy for cardiac overload and development of arrhythmia.
  • Severe Precaution: Monitor closely to avoid adverse effects on intellectual development, brain maturation, and linear growth due to overtreatment or undertreatment. Rare reports of pseudotumor cerebri and slipped capital femoral epiphysis.
