WINIFRED: Age is just a number.
CHRIS: Everybody ages
differently.
FRED: I'm not over the hill.
I'm on top of a hill.
ELSIE: Well, I'd rather
be over the hill
than under the hill.
CHARLIE (OFFSCREEN):
I would say that you're really
only as old as you feel.
To lead a healthy lifestyle,
you have to be physically
active.
WINIFRED: Get a reasonably good
amount of sleep.
CHARLIE: And eat properly.
CHRIS: Moderation is extremely
important to a good long life.
CHARLIE: I do have
a simple little wine at night,
cocktail on occasion.
If I wanted a hamburger,
I'd have a hamburger.
CHARLIE: I like ice cream,
but I don't go crazy.
CHRIS: And most of all,
I didn't have anybody telling me
what to eat.
ELSIE: I think the secret
to living a long life
is keeping yourself
interested in things
and always doing something.
WINIFRED: You can't just stay
put.
LOU: I go out every day.
I drive every day.
WINIFRED: And you have to have
a positive attitude
and being able to roll
with the punch.
CHRIS: One problem we have
at being 90, your friends move
on to the higher place.
You have to make new friends.
If you don't make new friends,
you'll run out of friends.
CHARLIE: Try to make the most
of what you have,
which is, this is the only body
we have.
This is the only brain,
the only-- take care of them.
CHRIS: Good health is most
important to aging gracefully.
And laughter is going to keep
you going better
than any medication.
CHARLIE: You got to have a sense
of humor now and then.
ELSIE: I don't like negativity.
I like to be happy.
And that's why I think a lot
and balance and everything,
because I want to be happy.
WINIFRED: Retirement does not
mean that you sit quietly,
that your toes go up.
CHARLIE: Life is living.
And as long as everything is
working, I'm very happy.
FRED: A birthday
is a celebration.
It doesn't necessarily mean
that you're that age, unless you
feel that you're that age.
So long as the birthdays keep
coming, you're OK.
CHARLIE: I've had
a healthy life.
I think I've had
an interesting life.
I'm looking forward to a lot
more life.
ELSIE: Nobody is going to come
and take me.
[LAUGHS] Until I say so.
