What should I know regarding pregnancy, nursing and administering Bufferin Extra Strength to children or the elderly?

If you are:

Pregnant:

Not Recommended: NOT RECOMMENDED ESPECIALLY IN 3RD TRIMESTER OR NEAR TERM

FDB Only When Necessary: EFFECTS UNKNOWN IF AMOUNT EXCEEDS RDA 350 MG/DAY

Nursing:

No Known Risk: POOR GI ABSORPTION

Absolute Contraindication: ONE REPORT OF METABOLIC ACIDOSIS; RISK OF REYE'S SYND IN VIRAL ILLNESS

An adult over 60:

Precaution: (SOM)(BEERS) INCREASED RISK FOR GI BLEED/ULCER; USE LOWER DOSES.

Giving Bufferin Extra Strength to a child under 12:

Relative Contraindication: REYE SYNDROME RISK WITH VIRAL ILLNESS, FEVER, FLU SYMPTOMS.

Warning: NOT RECOMMENDED AS AN ANTACID AGE < 2 YEARS.
