How the interaction occurs:
Valproate may speed up how quickly your body processes rufinamide.
What might happen:
The amount of rufinamide in your blood may increase and cause more side effects than expected. Larger increases are seen in patients who weigh less than 30 kg.
What you should do about this interaction:
Let your healthcare professionals (e.g. doctor or pharmacist) know that you are taking these medicines together if you weigh less than 30 kg or are experiencing headaches, dizziness, fatigue, nausea/vomiting, or difficult walking. Your doctor may want to change the amount of your medicine.Your healthcare professionals may already be aware of this interaction and may be monitoring you for it. Do not start, stop, or change the dosage of any medicine before checking with them first.
