What you may think are allergies or a cold, could be the sign of nasal polyps.

Nasal polyps are non-cancerous growths that line the nasal passages and sinuses. They are soft, painless, and hang down like teardrops.

Small nasal polyps may not cause any problems.

Larger polyps can lead to breathing problems, a loss of taste or smell, and infections.

Symptoms include a post-nasal drip, stuffiness, sinus pressure, facial pain, and frequent nosebleeds.

It sounds like it could still be just a cold, but if these symptoms last more than 10 days, see a doctor.

Nasal polyps are linked to chronic inflammation from asthma, allergies, or infections.

Medications can shrink nasal polyps.

Surgery is often needed to remove them, but they can grow back unless the underlying cause is addressed.
